It's not a bad one, Kev! Yes, Latrobe Uni did win - but gee they did their best to throw it away in the second quarter with some awful kicking for goal. See my website (I just updated it) for the details!

You wanna see bad kicking for goal, check out OUR scores!

I just calculated that if the Reds had scored the goals instead of points (swap the two) in Rouns 1 and 3, we'd be on top

But we still had a good win.

St Marys reserves won by two points on Saturday so we're now 3-0 - but the VAFA website has managed to give Mt Lilydale ten extra behinds (they kicked nine, but the results say nineteen!!)

So until they fix the site (or sack however gave them the results) we've been shafted.

Yeah well the score from Latrobe Uni and Oakleigh was also wrong! Only by a point - but I think Uni are going to get fined! And I know why! The timekeepers agreed on 14.15 (which is what the paper said this morning) but the goal umpires - official umps BTW, from the RDFL - agreed on 14.14!! And that's what the paperwork will say! I know that because I sent in only the one card and kept the other three as I always do unless there is a dispute between the goalies! (That's to save me writing down the QxQ scores as a reference for my website report)

Don't you hate incorrect scores! There were a couple of beauties a couple of weeks ago! Terang/Mortlake 1.8 when in fact it was 21.8!! And the Sporting Pulse upload made the same freaking mistake!!

****es me off when they record us as losing when we actually won, and then use the wrong numbers to calculate the ladder!!

SACK AAP!!!

I'll take over that job - and make sure the printout is RIGHT!! At least I know what I'm doing, unlike those brainless twits.

:D

(I'm going to have another go at them shortly if they keep up this AUBURNvale BS - Albanvale you dolts! I made them do Kolora right a few years back - they used to consistently spell it KILLora!!!)

Surprisingly enough, though the VAFA website has the wrong score (and says we lost by eight points) the Herald Scum actually got it right.....

Correction, Richo. AAP got it right. The Herald Sun (AND the Age) don't print that stuff themselves. They only do the full details ones (VAFA A & B and the suburban footy on Monday). It's a convenient out for them!

Herlad Sun (and Age) do the full details ones, do they? I thought that might all have come from AAP, but fair enough.

So I wonder how VAFA got it wrong ... I mean where do AAP get their scores from ... VAFA would get there's rung through by the clubs ...

Yeah so my question is, where does AAP go to get its scores, because if it went to the leagues, then surely they'd also show the St Marys score in error!

Just to clear this one up, this is how it works.

The leagues ring the scores - or fax them to AAP on Saturday night. The VAFA send the A and B Grade details direct to the papers.

On Sunday night, the Southern FL provide a service by which they get the metro leagues (except for the VAFA) to send them the details, and then they send them in one lot direct to the papers. The country leagues ring or fax AAP again.

So what did happen? Your guess is as good as mine, Kev! I might check it out if I get the chance.

Grabbed a copy of this week's Inside Football and it seems there are some interesting teams in promotion and relegation spots:

A Grade Relegation: Old Ivanhoe and University Blues
B Grade Promotion: Whitefriars and North Old Boys...Old Essendon 3rd, Old Brighton 4th, Hampton Rovers 5th and Old Paradians 6th
B Grade Relegation: MHSOB and Mazenod...St. Bedes 10th, De La Salle 9th
C Grade Promotion: Old Camberwell and Beaumaris
C Grade Relegation: Mentone Vultures and Ormond
D1 Grade Promotion: Old Mentonians and Ajax..Yarra Valley Old Boys 3rd
D1 Grade Relegation: Ivanhoe Assumption and Aquinas..Salesian 10th
D2 Grade Promotion: Peninsula and Fitzroy Reds
D2 Grade Relegation: Oakleigh and Hawthorn Amateurs
D3 Grade Promotion: Swinburne and Werribee Amateurs...South Melbourne Districts, Syndal Tally-ho, Monash Gryphons
D3 Grade Relegation: Power House and Elsternwick
D4 Grade Promotion: University High, Mt. Lilydale, Albert Park and North Brunswick

There aren't four going up from D4 this year are there?

D3 - It would be a great effort for Werribee Ammos to go up 2 grades in 2 years - they're a good team, they could probably do it. Rupertswood should play very well after coming up from D4 as well.

I can see Powerhouse coming down - if it wasn't for Parkside leaving last year they'd already be in D4.

The Gryphs are interesting - they lost to St Marys in a praccy match.... not that that neccessarily means anything.

D4 - Mt Lilydale and Albert Park are both very strong, haven't seen UHS-VU yet but they've had some very impressive wins.

:( :( :o

C'mon 'monds we've gotta lift. We have our best chance of winning on sat. We are playing St.Leo's Emmaus who've come up from D1. But they've started the year ok with a 2-1 record.

Tell you this much RichoAgain, if Werribee Ammos do go up, the media out this way are going to love it! Remember this was the club that won the FDFL Division 3 flag in 1997, then had the flag taken off them after they played a suspended player in the grand final, after being mistaken by the tribunal at the time. Had a pretty fair run since heading into Amateur Footy...their Under 19's has been good since they joined basically.

pazza what name was the club under when they were in the Footscray DFL? I presume it wasn't Werribee 'Amateurs' ... I guess that title was added when they joined the amateur league.

Did they end up getting the the flag, or, if not, who did it go to? Who was the grand final opponent? Was Division 3 the lowest division of the FDFL at the time?

(hope you don't mind my drilling you for info) :)

it happens on a regular basis in locl grand finals in either football or cricket, clubs playing ineligible players and having won the game then only to find out they have lost it becuase they did not follow the rules.

What were the circumstances in this case?? Would like to know

They were still known as Werribee Amateurs back then Mobbenfuhrer. (Similar to the way Geelong Amateurs who were in the VAFA, are now in the Bellarine Football League).

I'd have to go back into the history of the WRFL to look as I think the club involved is still in that competition.

Can remember the furore in the Werribee Banner in particular around the time though. Werribee Amateurs are the club linked to what is known as Werribee Juniors in the WRFL junior competition.

All I can say is that Werribee Amateurs were fairly hard done by and were quickly accepted into the VAFA as a result.

No Pazza, wrong. Werribee Juniors in the WRFL are associated with the Werribee Tigers in the VFL - not Werribee Amos. I umpired a season with the WRFL, and that included Werribee a few times on Sunday.

But according to my records, Werribee lost the 1997 Division 3 GF anyway! Braybrook 18.18.126 to Werribee 10.16.76. Admittedly I was living in Canberra at the time so I don't know if that score was in the Melbourne dailies like that or it was missing and I picked it up later - likely from the Western Times in Footscray, probably even my good mate Stephen Milne who was working for that paper at the time (he's at Fairfax now).
