Doesn't surprise me, Pazza. When I headed up to Canberra in after the 1996 season (I left Melbourne in November) I still got an invite to the 1997 season!!! Same thing happened after 1999!

For those who are interested I'll be reporting the goings on of the most significant suburban competition in Victoria, the Victorian Amateur Football Association.

Will Old Xaverians return to glory after a staggering run of premierships to 2001 in A grade?

Well, they've got a fair website, in any case at www.oldxavs.com

We are talking premierships at Ormond now, we finally won a game!
Nah seriously, it was good to get the monkey off our back and a well deserved victory over Glen Eira by 15 points. Interestingly it was our 1st win since round 11 last year.

Lets hope that Ormond does stay in C Grade and claim thier place in A Grade,at least my uncle, David Dressing (he was heavily involved with the club years ago, when they were one of the powers in the ammos), will be pleased.

Yeah i've heard of him. It might be a few years off the way we're going at the moment, but I think we will stay in C grade, things are starting to look a bit better

And the Redders made Old carey look like a bit of a rabble on the weekend, pumping them in both seniors and reserves. Old Carey had delivered 30 goal thumpings unto Oakleigh, Hawthorn and Bentleigh the last few weeks, but no such freedom this time.

A fantastic atmosphere with the players pausing to face brunswick street and sing the theme song towards a group of tourists who were passing by there, before returning to the front of the old stand and singing the song again.

I heard on the grapevine that the umpies and even an Old Carey official (both groups copped a good amount of ribbing and stirring) were impressed with the atmosphere and thought of it as a bit of an event very worth being a part of!

Reds are now 4 and 2, in 3rd place ahead of Willy by %. Reds play 2nd-placed West Brunny this coming weekend, which will be a test run of the world-famous MCG match due later this year.

I'm happy to hear that, Kev. One of the ump's observers was at Brunswick Street (Bob Taylor) before he came over for the third quarter at Brens Oval (where I was on Saturday), and he looked pretty contented. Now I think I know why!

I'm a big uni blacks fan.

uni blues suck and I hope they get relegated. They've been hanging on in A for about the last 3 years - time to see them go down.

Do I sense a little jealousy here, Jeff? I mean, how long has it been since Blacks were in A Grade hmmmmm?

Yeah OK that was a little cheap and I'll back off a bit! :) Is that what you meant by jousting, Kev?
