Well what do you all think, after such a pathetic effort should we be baying for blood, or not over react. The week ahead should be interesting, let hope at the very least Pfieffer is in for Burton next week. Birdman doesnt look right at all and needs a week off.... Hes not alone either

Plenty of guys are injured, but there's no-one to replace them with.

Birdman has to go, has been shocking for weeks now.

Yeah you can tell theres guys out there who arent even 90% fit but we have to play them. Burton has to go, for a guy whos supposed to be a leader of the club and show some heart and determination, he has been weak as p!ss

Correct weight.

Since Round 16 2006 when we were two games clear on top, were flogged at Subiaco the following week and the injury plague struck we're 6-8.

To be a middle of the road side when we're scraping the bottom of the barrel personnel-wise is OK.

Could be a lot worse, could be Melbourne.

Should we throw a couple of kids in, Tippett, Pfieffer etc to see how they go, could hardly go any worse. Suppose the key is to not over react and do a Richmond

It would be nice if we had a young tall in the closet that we could throw into the mix. I'm so over the Welsh, Bock, Perrie forward line.

This is the problem though, essentially you're now after a third choice forward line structure - remembering that we're without Ricciuto, Hentschel, McGregor and Biglands.

As a second choice Welsh/Bock/Perrie is probably the best in the competition.

Unfortunately when they run into an above average defence - Prestigiacomo/Clement/Maxwell - they're going to struggle, where ordinarily they'd be left minded by a far lesser player while Roo, Trentschel, KMac and/or Biggles go through the prime defenders like a dose of salts.

Essentially we're extracting blood from a stone at this point.

I know the Eagles lost today but how did KMac go ?? Is he a big chance to come in next week, especially given the useless nature of our forwardline of late.

Burton could hardly walk yet alone jog. Edwards is also struggling with injury. Welsh is also struggling and Hudson doesnt appear fully fit at this moment.
I think I actually agree with McDermott  for a change. Take a young team to the Gabba next week and give some of our boys a break. It is a strong possiblity that we are going to lose anyway so it wont hurt.
I hate, hate, hate putting up the injury exuse but lets face it we are in big trouble trying to get a team on the field.

Your last comment is correct. We are trying as hard as we can but we dont have the resources at the moment.

What I would like to ask however is why we did not try and curb some of the infleunce of their half back line, which killed us all night. Lets put Shirley on Rhys Shaw for example.

Lets get some pace and crumbing ability in the forward line and lets get some more people who can run out the game. Should Michelle and the Walls have played tonight?????

Get Nathan Bock back to CHB, at least until K-Mac returns.

SOMEBODY get Mattner up on to the wing PLEASE. Ring up 5AA do something.

They did well to keep the game competitive but their execution was off and they've been getting belted in clearances by inferior midfields which is a worry.

The positives: Knights, Douglas, Vince, Griffin, Hinge all did good things. I was impressed with Hinge tonight, he seemed comfortable with the pace of the game which is promising. The problem is, he's now injured too.

I've come to the conclusion that crumbing isn't the problem. We got a good three or four goals from crumbs tonight; it's simply the total lack of pressure applied when the opposition looks to clear the ball from our 50. Time and time again it happened tonight, when a Collingwood player got possession of the ball in our 50, it was cleared in a flash. This needs to be addressed, and while Bodey will help fix this, we need to start embedding the pressure game into our younger players too.

Too many idiots on the radio knocking our recruiting tonight, talking about our lack of big strong forwards. We recruited Sellar and Tippett in the last draft, both having big wraps on them. It's just a matter of time and development.

And thats really the crux of it!!!

We have done a great job considering the hurdles but there comes a point where you just simply can't replace anymore players and if we are not at that point, we are bloody close to it.

And isn't it pathetic that people are once again to bag Burton. Yes he is struggling but FFS he is playing with seriously sore knees. He has a medial strain in one of his knees and the other one he had operated on during the PS. Its OK to say yeah let him rest up but who the hell do you bring in to replace him. Half fit Brett Burton is still a handy X factor to have in the forward line.

Before people start bagging a player, how about acknowliging the effort of him crossing the white line and taking one for the team because we are low on numbers. A shorter injury list would mean, Burton get to rehab his knee prorperly. With our injury list the bloke puts up his hand to give it a shot and player and despite his dodgy knees he still makes a real effort in trying to play through it.

That deserves some acknowledgment, not bagging

The wash up? The wash up is: this season will have a completely different complexion to the last two, where we jumped out of the blocks early and faded away. I'm not overly conerned at the moment. Obvioudly our injuries and forward line are talking points, but slot Reilly, Johncock, McGregor, Ricciuto, Bode and Porplyzia back into the line up and I'm very confident we can get into form before the finals.

If we can be 6-6 at the break, have our best 22 on the park by Round 17, we will make a charge for the finals, rather than fizzle.

We really missed Radar tonight, has been a key cog in our season. No surprise that when he hasn't played a part, we've lost both games.

Agreed. We know how good the Birdman can be, even when not 100% he'll give you a spark at times, and at this stage we don't have a replacement for him.

Opposition supporters can knock us for making excuses but the fact is we have been RAVAGED, DECIMATED, EATEN ALIVE by injuries. And we're still competitive.

Nope sorry I can’t agree with this. The guy is playing injured no doubt, so why then is he even in the team? You’ll reply that there’s no one else that can be picked, but there is, he goes by the name of Darren Pfeiffer. Sure he’s not going to win games off his boot like Burton can when he’s fit, but the trouble is he isn’t fit, not even close, so there's no point him even playing. He’s had 19 possessions over the past two weeks combined and had absolutely no impact on either game. Time for him to have a rest before he sustains further injury to his knee.

So why bag Burton. He is inured. He is getting injections into his knees every game day. He is busting his boiler out there for no results. So what do people do, lets all bag Burton. How about directing the frustration at the selection committee and not towards a bloke who IS taking one for the team and putting himself through duress because he is asked to.

I am sorry but my hat goes off to Burton for caring enough about this team to put himself through all that but I do question those that pick the team.

Oh and seriously dude, drop the Pfeiffer **** sucking because if anyone replaces Burton in the side it WILL be Jericho because they are sort of "like for like".

I just think it’s unfair for Burton to escape criticism. It might hurt you to read some of the comments but they’re all reasonable. Goodwin has played all season under duress and there are a handful of other players who aren’t close to being fully fit, and yet they manage to offer something out there. Bar one game Burton has been terrible this season, especially his last two outings. These are the facts whether you like them or not.

If Jericho is the one to replace Burton then why was Pfeiffer dropped out of Norwood’s team and why was he the one on standby?

If Porplyzia doesn't come up this week Pfeiffer will almost certainly get a guernsey.

EDIT: Actually, McGregor probably will. We need his physical presence in that forward line, and it gives us great flexibility in defense with Bock able to switch around the place with him.

You are comparing a natural footballer (Goodwin) to the one thats not (Burton)! Thats why he is putting in below par performances that he is and again I stress its the match committee's fault not Burton's because as injured as he is, he is still giving it everything he has. When he comes off for a rest he can hardly stand. His workrate and effort cannot be questioned. NEVER!

And I think you will find that Pfeiffer was pulled out of the Norwood side because Edwards was in doubt. He was extensively worked on by the trainers EVERY time he came to the bench and especially after half time.

Fair enough Stiffy. Just really frustrates me seeing players out there who clearly aren’t 100% fit when there is at least one perfectly adequate replacement waiting in the wings. ;) :p
