... is the name of the new Megadeth album, which I picked up this morning.

12 tracks, clocks in at around 58 minutes and is decent value.

Strongest tracks : Disconnect, 1000 Times Goodbye, Dread and the Fugitive Mind (very reminiscent of "Sweating Bullets", off 1992's Countdown...), Return To Hangar (Continuation of "Hangar 18" off 1990's RIP).

Overall the sound is probably closest to the Countdown to Extinction album, nothing really spectacular but consistently good all the way through.
"Return to Hangar" retains the theme and some of the lyrics of its predecessor, but will never live up to the original Hangar 18, because it doesn't have the totally mad guitar solos at the end.

The best track, if I had to pick one, is "1000 Times Goodbye".

Overall rating = 7/10, but that might improve after a few listens.

Lateralus...

...is the name of Tool's new album.

13 tracks and at around 79 minutes is seriously great value.

Favourite tracks so far The Grudge, Schism, Parabola, Ticks & Leeches and Triad.

Hypnotic and flowing, with moments of perfectly built up rage. Long and self-indulgent, which in a world of N'Sync and Creed formulaeic bands, is a delight to hear. Lyrically outstanding. And easily the best drumming I have heard for years!!! Danny Carey is the true "King Carey"!

The best track, if I had to pick one, is The Grudge.

Overall rating = 8/10, but that might improve after a few more listens.

Figgy, I bought Lateralus too, just haven't had a chance to listen to it yet, due to the constant repeat of the new 'Deth disc. Not sick of that one just yet.

Had a listen to Lateralus... not impressed. Thought it was a bit drab. Disappointing, after all Aenima was a sensational album and would always have been hard to follow up. Ah well, guess a few more listens can't hurt, to help make the mind up.

With my newly installed cable modem I've just discovered the joys of cyber radio. So I've found a few c*ck rock stations (well they call it pre-1993 rock) and am absolutely rapt with it. I'm reminiscing back to age 16 where I was scamming my way past security to get into the Cathouse. Remember Firehouse? Ratt? Danger Danger? How bloody funny were they?

Does anybody recommend any other outlets to net radio stations? I'm using this URL http://windowsmedia.com/radiotuner/default.asp but its fairly untidy.
