How old are you Mantis BTW?

Why? I only watched the bits with Reegan in it, because I was told by a family member of mine that he was on the show & well I was interested to see how long he stayed in. Soon as he went out, haven't watched any since as it is garbage.

I get annoyed when users on BF look down on people here who watch a certain show, or think in such a way. BIG DEAL!! If you hate it so much, don't watch or even talk about it, LOL.

Hmm Luke, I wouldn't agree too happily with your top 10. I didn't watch all of the acts, but I know Random can do better. Brothership should not have left. Janie is crap and boring. Kaya are ********. Roslynn and Vince are quite good IMO.

After watching tonight I've come to realise that the x-factor has better finalists then Australia Idol!

Russell and Roslynn are great!

Russell, is better than Shannon Noll, IMO.

I know I might be ridiculed for watching and/or posting about this show, but I really don't care, as I in know way support the pop industry by buying their material, however, after last nights show I think the competition exponentially increased its credibility. I would rank the performances like this;

1. Random

daylight

2. Roslynn
3. Vince (althought the guitar/guitar playing was pathetic)
4. Russell
5. Kaya
6. Gemma (although if she gets her act together could challenge Random)
7. Jacob (really s**thouse effort)
8. Jaynie (she sucks, bad, back up track sounded better than she did)

Would have to agree that several of the contestants took some major leaps forward last night, which is great for the show. It's obvious the talent is better than Popstars Live, and there's a few acts who would challenge some Aus Idol finalists also!

Mikes4, your list is pretty right. Random were great, I haven't really been a huge fan of theirs but I really enjoyed their performance!

Here's my best to worst:

1. Random - easily the best performance - they have a future!
2. Vince - the guitar bit was beyond comprehension, but he got it together and sounded the best has has since the start of the competition. He actually has a good voice!
3. Roslynn - great effort, toss up between her and Vince for #2.
4. Rusell - has to really let loose so we know what he's capable of. Feel as though he is holding back still.
5. Gemma - she has to stop choosing art-house songs and sing a bit of mainstream stuff if she wants to win.
6. Kaya - growing tired of them, quickly. I liked last weeks a bit better.
7. Jacob - wasn't terrible, but wasn't great.
8. Janie - it's the end of the line for Janie, I'm afraid - isn't it amazing that she just can't sing up-tempo songs?

Janie has to go tonight, without doubt.

Random have been going to win this competition since Day 1, I don't think there's even a question about it, and last night's great performance just cemented that.

I've come to the definite belief though that this show is horrible, the format sucks, watching the judges preen over their artists and making it all about themselves is nauseating. And on the most part the talent isn't that likeable. I watched last night because I was at my family's place and they watched it, but I'll be avoiding (except for glimpses) from now on.

You could be more right about the judges. An outsider watching the show would think that the actual contest is between the judges, not the 8 or 9 "contestants".

Two more things:

1) The "judges" no not need to be on stage with their "babies" after each performance - absolutely no need, and it takes the shine away from the actual contestants.

2) There should be an independent group of judges (outside of Kate, John and Mark), who have nothing to do with being afiliated with each of the groups - who should make comments about each performance.

Exactly, so true about the judges, I 100% agree.

It's such favouritism, what is the point of them being a judge when they will strictly stick with their team contestant, maybe that is the producers' aim?

Anyway, who went tonight?

Thanks choc_a_holic.. :)

Tonight, the final 2 were Roslynn and Janie. A bit of a surprise that Roslynn was bottom 2 - it should have been either Jacob or Kaya I would've thought.

Anyway there was a bit of controversey as Janie chose not to sing in the "showdown" towards the end of the show. They started her music ("Say a little prayer") and everything but she didn't come out! So Dan McPherson had to come back on stage and ask John Reid what was going on - and JR didn't even know, he just said he just assumes she was too "ill" to sing tonight (even though she was on stage with the other 7 acts just a few minutes before her scheduled time to sing)...

It seems as if Janie wasn't happy with Kate's comments last night about making the wrong decision last week in choosing to send the "Brothership" home, instead of Janie. So she chose not to come back out.

Janie did not re-appear at all, either.

Roslynn sang, and sang well - she survived of course.

For a second I thought Mark was going to vote Roslynn to go home - after all, the judges are only concerned about "their" acts winning - so why would he choose the worse performer to go home if there are none of his acts in the bottom 2? You'd think choosing the worst performer to stay would help his/their groups cause and chance of winning?

The whole elimination process of the show is weird. Do you think the votes will get to choose a winner or will that too be left to the judges?

Anyway, it was left to JR to make the final call (as they were both his acts in the bottom 2) and he chose Roslynn to stay on. The only call he could make in the circumstances.

Hmm that sounds very interesting. I think it was time for Janie to go, a LONG time ago :)

Yeah, I wonder how the winner will be chosen, it's just so biased.

Anyway, it is obvious Roslynn is a better performer then Janie. Boy, when I saw Janie sing "say a little prayer for you".... was that bad or what? She obviously tried to slow it down a bit, which wasn't a particularly good idea..I know she has a soft voice ,but, you can't/could'nt hear her say the last word in the sentence of a song, she just trails off.
Not that Iknow anything about singing, but, to me, it doesn't sound that great for that song.

:)

Final three contestants - one from each group..

Mark: Random
Kate: Vincent
J.R: Russell...but not 100%, Roslynn is quite good.
That seems almost spot on to me, too.

Regarding last night's elimination (I now only watch the last 5 minutes of the elmination show, the rest is bollocks) - it was, sadly, the right decision. Gemma's voice really got pretty bad towards the end of her performance and as a result she was rightfully eliminated - which would have been a turn-up three weeks ago. She hasn't shown any versatility in her three performances - and doesn't look comfortable in moving out of her comfort zone at all.

All I can say is, Jacob is a very lucky boy to still be in the competition (in other words, it's lucky Kate loves Jacob so much).

Great that Roslynn got through comfortably - as I felt her performance Sunday - Circle of Life - was her best so far - I loved it. Her voice has not shown any weakness at all yet throughout the competition.

Russell's performance on Sunday was hillarious, not in a bad way either, it was just very unusual - but I liked it a lot. Major kudos to him for that performance - much improved on "Love is all around" last week.

Couldn't split the rest of them. Kaya and Jacob were half-decent but nothing special. Kaya deserve to go, pretty soon, in my opinion.

Vince was cringe-worthy - didn't like it at all even though he's one of my favourites. Random, also, were pretty painful - well below their usual high standard. I've talked about Gemma - she was unfortunately nothing special on Sunday which ultimately cost her.

I'll most likely post something tomorrow after tonight's elimination, but I thought last night's show was perhaps just a bit above average overall.

Once again, Roslynn and Random dominated. Random needed to be good after last week which was pretty ordinary, whilst Roslynn truly is fantastic - and I'm surprised more has not been made of her performances over the past few weeks - just extraordinary. :)

Vince was also better than last week, but is not near Roslynn when it comes to vocal ability.

Russell took a step down last night, sadly. Jacob was way too busy, almost falling over at one point, which summed up his performance really.

And I'm still not into Kaya. One of my work colleagues actually is a big fan of them but I wouldn't give them the time of day at this stage. I haven't been moved by any of their performances, yet.

That's my 2 cents.

Why do they wear the same clothes the next day?
Seems bloody stupid to me!

I know..pathetic!

Very disappointing to see Roslynn go..but it was obvious when you saw that it was only her against Russell, he's one of the favourites.

Kaya..will go next week - it's a groups turn to leave.

Vince is great, but, I can't help feel that he's always trying to sound like the actual artist whose song he has chosen. But, I'm sure if he wrote his own song he'd show exactly how original he is. Like Mark says, he's 'imitating'.

Well I'm in a bit of a sticky situation you see, I really hate Vince and from the beginning I've wanted him to lose and I really love Kate and from the beginning I've wanted her to win! Win/Lose situation ahead...

I've only seen the "Vote Now" ads. Russell is bloody awful!! I woud'nt watch the show if they paid me.

Does your nickname relate to Jericho the footballer, or Jericho the WWE wrestler? :)

Sounds like you're really into the show, good to hear. I was really into it at first (check out the first few pages of this thread), but strangely - I've lost interest as the show has progressed. The massive emphasis that has been placed on the judges throughout the show has really put me off. There is no obvious chemistry at all between the judges. Their constant bickering and "mentoring" has taken all the focus off the actual contestants - and they wonder why no-one cares for the show? It's because a random observer to the show would think the competition is between the three judges, with the contestants just being "bit-players" in the grand scheme of things.

That's where this show went wrong. That's why "Mythbusters" (on SBS) has outrated X-Factor the last two Monday nights convincingly. Don't get me started on "The X-tra Factor" - what a joke.

The concept of this show was promising. The way Channel Ten has executed it has been an absolute disgrace.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Just wondering guys, does anyone know who the final 2 contestants are?

I've got a bet with a mate that Random and Vince will be the final 2, but he thinks it will be Random and Russell, I REALLY hope I'm right.
