That one was meant to be funny

For me these 6 episodes had more good than bad and on the whole I liked them
Well I must confess that I liked them too. But it had the feeling of send up , even Scully and Mulder were sort of sending it all up , especially when Einstein appeared first, and Scully says , "gee she even calls him Miller" !! I thought that they'd just flung 6 shows together , to get a feel, well my feel is that Scully and Mulder or NOBODY. We've had agent Dockett, and his treacherous sidekick, but only Mulder and Scully cut it.

Now we all ask why? And we ask in a very very angry way. Because ep 6 of X Files was one absolute piece of garbage, only for Scully and Mulder and the smoking man was it worth it, and I mean just those characters, what the hell is Einstein and Miller doing in this show, a definite set up for taking the mickey out of the fans of this show.
X Files is not X Files without Duchovny and Anderson , its that simple, it seems maybe to me that the creators are thinking of bringing it back with new lead characters, and bringing it back without any new ideas or imagination, and using Einstein and Miller as the new Scully and Mulder . Well, NO NO NO NO NO!

Not a chance for me , I feel rather like a fool and that the producers have duped me .

If neither of these two actors wanted to recreate this series in a manner of entering the deal fully committed , then why bother.
Money I guess, both these people have found other avenues of acting and probably didn't want to commit to anything , so up comes a smart short little six- piece, to make some big money.
I would like both of them to commit to never appearing in a series again and the producers forget doing any more, and maybe just once more, in one movie all of them answer the poor bloody fans main question.

One last thing from me on this, when are the people in the industry going to grow some brains and find new things in stories etc, because I am fed up with CSI shows and with vampire shows, with politician shows Madam Secratary+, and of course the crap reality shows.
Relax - I think it's all over.

Finally got around to watching the finale last night, it felt like they crammed an entire season into 1 episode. Deus ex machina to the extreme. Just terrible.

Outside of Duchovny and Anderson doing a good job reprising their roles I didn't find many positives out of this series.

Einstein and Miller felt like the piss take duo that gets one comedy ep per season rather than becoming recurring characters.

Yeah I was surprised that Einstein and Miller lasted more than one ep. I thought they were there for one-off comedic purposes similar to a MoTW ep.

Other various beefs... Scully has had so much plastic surgery I almost struggle to reconcile her with her original character now. And would it be normal for the smoking man to speak in exactly the same voice now he has a hole in his throat? That was bugging me a bit.

The entire last ep felt really rushed to me. From zero to apocalypse in 10 minutes. Loved the wereman ep with the Kiwi dude from FOTC though. Loved Mulder's shroom trip too - reminded me of that awesome pseudo computer game scene out of The Beach when DiCaprio hits the mushrooms.

here's my synopsis analysis of five episodes

episode 1 - a strong precursor and opening to the season. critics raved and ranted about it, but for mine i finished the episode with a beaming smile. duchovny seamlessly moved from Californications Hank to Mulder.

episode 2 - strong evolution themes, notable most in the hospital st marys where planet of the apes was being shown. slicing of crazed doctors wifes belly was confronting, and the hand reaching out of the open cut equally thought provoking. perhaps a metaphor for mother earth yearning for help?

quote of the ep: Obamacare

episode 3 - really shone a light on society. at times i felt there an implication that all men are animals, but soon realised it wasnt the case, merely holding up a mirror to society. you could tell this episode wanted to create fear in the viewer, but as it went on, it became a comedy. notably it featured the kiwi guy who seems to play the same character in everything he’s in. a quirky, odd, eccentric lad. like a meerkat at times with his sudden movements.

it became apparent that the theme carter wanted to flesh out was not that there’s an animal inside us all, but that we are all animals masquerading as humans.

scully undressing. WOW!

episode 4 - ones man trash is another mans treasure. people who on the surface have the homeless at heart were all about themselves. likeness to candyman and also Banksy.

“Downtown” will have the same effect as Homes Wonderful. strikingly, it is eerie that Downtown is also the basis of Macklemores song also called Downtown, which references quite strongly thrift spending, salvos and wait wait wait…..helping the homeless. bloody creepy.

scullys mother, william, willy jnr…..wtf? m sure the writers felt it relevant, but i didnt see it. maybe there’s an arc im missing.

episode 5 - allah is great. an all american guy, peanut butter and jelly. but to everyone out there he’s a muzzie. or a brownie. nothing like local hospitality!

lol special agent miller and einstein. lolol. uncanny resemblance to mulder and scully - two rangas. and both doctors. hahaha this is funny. hahaha ok so x files swinger action here.

Pretty good episode reviews, although I think you were on a better mushy trip than Mulder towards the end there. 9/10

I watched this recently.

I really don't like that they retconned the main alien storyline.

I get why they did it (because they've run out of room and time to continue it), but I don't believe it.

The Were-Monster episode was pretty funny, though. I really liked that.

I bought this 6 months ago (and downloaded) but still haven't got around to watching it.

I hate how they did that. It also doesn't make sense, with all the stuff that happened in seasons 1 - 9

There's something else that bugged me, firstly with the film that came out in 2008 and now with season 10.

At the end of the original series, Mulder is wanted by the FBI for murder, and by the alien Super Soldiers for... something to do with Cigarette Smoking Man.

When the movie comes around, Mulder is welcomed back straight away simply because there's a weird case that the FBI want him to work on.

This basically happens again at the beginning of the new series, too.

So, what, the FBI just dropped its manhunt of him like that? And CSM, the Super Soldiers and The Syndicate just stopped pursuing him because... well, I'm not sure why.

It just doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

Nah, X-Files was before a time we expected shows to have a thought out story line set up in advance and not made up as they go along. As we saw with LOST if writers make up stuff simply to keep things interesting it becomes such a mess you no longer buy into the show at all. Making up a prequel now would be doing the same. Simply think it is past it's time. Too much has already been messed up to fix up now. I never even watched the last few seasons of X-Files but seen some of the movies over time. I am content as someone that did enjoy it when it first started out to let sleeping dogs lie now. They made a few good episodes in the re-boot but the end was so bad just give it up now. Just shows writers ran out of ideas after a few episodes.

I think the last X Files series was actually a bit of a send up. This series in the beginning used be creepy and well done, now its sort of a laugh, but remember the horrid creature that used to come out of the toilet basin, creepy. Its lost that nervy feel now. Done and dusted.

Expecting it to be shit. Season 1-5 was great, although 20 odd episodes a season was way too many.

Seasons 6-8 was really a drop off and apart from the Rhys Darby episode the reboot was terrible too.

Reboot just had terrible end considering it looked to be building to something more worthwhile to expect. I did not mind a lot of the newer episodes. Just a pity they screwed end so very bad to make it all feel not worth doing.
