I was thinking about this when reading the other body size thread on this board and wondering how we felt about it. As a backlash to "traditional" beauty standards there is a growing trend in the media to promote "women of all sizes". However the majority of the time these women of all sizes happen to be on the larger side because being thin isn't what real women do. According to posts prevalent on social media "real women have curves" or "real men go for curves only dogs go for bones" and other such nonsense.
It goes beyond this. I see many larger women trying to force food onto my very slim wife because "you can afford to eat it". Yes maybe she can gain a kilo or two without it being a big deal. However this does not mean that she has to be a disgusting glutton.
Self help and positive image websites will constantly tell us all that big is beautiful but do you know what isn't beautiful? Obesity. I'm sick of seeing people who are genuinely obese championed as standing up for real women whilst naturally thin women are demonised. This is thin shaming it is in my opinion worse than fat shaming because thin people are far more likely to be healthy than those being fat shamed.
