Done my back again
4th time in as many years
Fell down like a pack of spuds by the pool but luckily a pool lounger to break my fall.

Managed to get up. Walk two sets of stairs inside to my bedroom
Taken a Valium and some panadol

So I bought a nice box of shortbread as a spare Christmas gift if needed. It wasn’t so I decided we’d open it to eat ourselves. TG we didn’t give it to anyone! Every single biscuit was broken, each one in 4-6 bits 😟.

Still taste ok though 😉

Shortbread break easy. I've noticed that too with almost every box.

Politics

Never gave a shit about them. Never will.
You probably will later in life. It’s soul-destroying but it’s useful to keep tabs on what’s going on and who’s who. You don’t have to like them 🙂

Almost every year I end up having a conversation with higher ups about my role getting changed whether its being merged with another area or being deleted and so forth. While some variations have indeed occurred, ultimately I end up doing the same things as before.

I figured it was happening again soon (expected around Feb.... but the secondish week of 2026 was a surprise). This time given documentation on old vs new system, expected outcomes.

I'm like that's all well and good, but what's expected of me ? What will I be doing ??
And they don't have a specific answer, just keep doing what I'm doing. That kinda has me thinking that I could be let go when the changes kick in (again being vague, but expected to occur before April).

The uncertainty it creates isn't a great feeling and has repercussions - in instances like this where I already can't get back to sleep so let's worry about this as well.

What app or website is that?

As per Apple's weather app, it's currently 39c & 12% humidity here
I have a half decent weather station and that is the app it works with , it’s gone up another degree since posting. I’ve had to put the misting system on for the chickens as they were struggling it’s so hot

Far out that humidity
So glad i no longer live on the dry southern parts of this land
Plus it’s windy already been one fire in the state today but it’s under control now. Thursday/ Friday is going to be bad for Victoria

You shouldn't have waited so long if nothing was getting changed. Or do you like your job a lot? Maybe a change won't be the worst thing. You may not even be let go. If you do will you be getting a pay out?

I fly by the seat of my pants
They do a lot of restructuring because of staff turn over, in part because "change is necessary" even when whatever they fix gets fixed.... but creates a snowball effect of new and annoying problems.

For all of the issues I've had from a toxic environment...... (not caused by me :p), workplace bullying (again not by me... but I was a target of said bully lol). The pay is great for the workload (can show up and do the job blindfolded) despite some occasional stress triggers.

I've basically been doing the same role for 7ish years, it just gets recatagorised, extra tasks added (workload of multiple people when its just myself). I'm open to change for sure.

As for a pay out I have almost 6 months of AL/LSL + if the role gets chopped and they don't find another role for me.... technically should get a redundancy payout that (from memory) is about 4 months worth. That's fine and dandy until a lot of it gets taxed.

This is the weather in Geelong the next few days, following the 40/41c today - the no real rain for the next week is the worse part to follow up these couple of seriously hot days

Especially when you factor in this for Friday with a top of 39c - thunderstorms, severe winds and no rain isn't a great mix with hot temps

43 in my part of Adelaide at the moment, and 9% humidity as per the BOM.
It’s 46.3 degrees now here in Mannum. I read an article the other day that with the drought and the rainfall sa has had the ground has lost 3 years worth of rainfall due to evaporation . The short term forecast is for an El Niño system which is not good for our farmers.

Release the beavers

So glad I’m off travelling tomorrow - Sydney for a night, then Norfolk Island for a week, then back to Sydney for two nights before heading back home. A good way to get out of this oppressive heat for a while.

Currently 42. I am gonna go on a 45 minute walk later. It is weigh in day tomorrow
