It is so ****ing cynical and pessimistic, it's ridiculous.

It's not everyone clearly, but there's enough of you to cause nearly every thread to be choc-full of whinging.

I realise the hypocritical nature of this thread given that I too am having a whinge - but at least it's not the same repetitive shit about how our club is doomed for perennial failure. Either due to Schwab, or Rosich, our culture, our captain - whatever.

Yes, some of our performances have been pathetic, but it doesn't excuse the doomsday attitude of some posters on here. I know it's always trotted out but we do have injuries and they do have a big effect. The fact is we had the same people in charge of this club last year, with the same coach and same captain, and for the first half of the year we looked like genuine premiership contenders. We won at the SCG, at the GABBA, at Etihad.

If you take players of the calibre and structural importance of:

Mundy/Barlow
Ballantyne
Sandi
SNOS
Morabito
Hayden
Suban/Ibbotson
Mzungu
(and throw in Keps and Grover for Sunday's game)

along with some depth players, out of the side for most of the year, any team would struggle.

The mob up the road were awful last year. But with a couple of fresh faces and some important players injury free, they're pushing for a top four berth!

Complaining about a lack of effort during the last quarters of our last two away games, the Saints game, the Richmond game etc is acceptable as it was piss poor. But please stop acting like our club is going nowhere, we have a list with a good blend of established stars and young talent that should see us as a near cert for a top four possie in 2012 if we are free of this years bad luck.

Excellent post:thumbsu:

Nuff said really

Agree mainly but Melb were missing a ton of players as well and why were we so good the week before for 3 quarters. If we lost by a 5 or so goal margin, then yeah fair enough we were just beaten on the day and don't really have that confidence just yet away but 90 points is pretty shocking. I can understand peoples reaction to a degree, although a lot of people are going a bit over the top.

I think its just a knee jerk reaction to the game and people will get over it when we get a few wins and people coming back.

I guess it's just tiring watching us get absolutely smashed by some fairly average teams. Also considering that we've all seen how good we played, its a tough transition going from an excellent year last year to the not-so-good year this season. Injuries are the root of our problem which we obviously can't help but it's moreso the lack of effort and the tendency to just throw in the towel that we've seen way too often.

"cynical and pessimistic " you are right
After a bad loss the pessimists come to the fore and after a good win the optimists do. This week the negativity has been overdone just as last week the board was full of backslapping and high-fives.I guess this simply reflects the inconsistency of the team at the moment.

Yeah totally agree. We have dished up a few pathetic performances this year without a shadow of doubt, and it pisses me off to no end.

It's more the fact that some of the people on this board can't stop using the line: 'we're a club destined to fail, we have always been soft, it goes right to the core etc etc' or something along those lines.

It hasn't been a great year and it may end up finishing pretty unsatisfactory too but i think the club is doing a lot of positive things still and there is reason to be optimistic. We are still in the eight with the worst injury list in the league. Our list had some really good additions this year too: Griffin, Mzungu and Lower have all been good, with Tarrant the only significant loss - but he missed a lot of last year through injury anyway.

I still think with a bit of luck we can be genuine contenders in 2012 so i don't see why there's so much pessimism about the state of our club.

Interesting take on things, and you're probably right. I certainly thought the optimisim last week heading into the Melbourne game was over par, and of course the results in Melb bore that out.

On the weekend, we had more players with 50 games of experience or less than the Gold Coast Suns.

Add to that Grover and Crowleys injuries and then it makes our average games of experience worse.

I think whenever your playing with more than half a WAFL team, you will struggle. Thats not to say thats the reason we lost on the weekend, but people need to be realistic about what the current group of players are capable of.

Completely agree with the OP.

It's bloody obvious we are a very under-strength side at the moment. Along with that comes deflating performances.

Well said OP. I can handle a bit of an emotional outpouring after the loss but it is getting ridiculous. And there are bunch of people on here like Clay Davis and Gordon Gecko that are allowed to continue to run down our club, and this is not limited to after a loss. I come on here to communicate with other people that have a shared passion and not listen to Chicken Littles constantly burn the FFC.

I'm getting pretty sick of this too. The dudes most prone to histrionics are also the most verbose. None of us have to be here, of course, but we want to be able to feel like part of community without having to put up with crap.

agree with everyone agreeing with the OP. :thumbsu:

Not to mention that theirs were all top 20 picks whereas ours were low picks and rookies.

Good balancing thread :)

Bloody well said.I have tried to make same points on another thread. This has been a tough year but I actually think the players and coaching staff have done a great job to keep us in the 8.With more luck next year we will give top four a real shake in part due to the depth we are developing this year due to injuries

So, if I'm not mistaken you come to this place to have a say?

Looks like you're getting it.
If this place is not the way you want it, there's one very obvious mechanism to change it.
Contribute...contribute, and contribute again.
But personally, I'll be buggered if I'm going to delete or edit posts just because some people don't like the content. Clay and Gordon can contribute how they like. Others are free to do so too.
Trolls get booted as the mod team see fit.
There's 4 of us. We've been here a long time, and know the lay of the land.

While I hate this sort of comment, if you really want a board where it's all sunshine and light, you all know where that place is.
There's nothing stopping you going there...but a great proportion of you came here from there why??? Because it's a place of mates, in jokes and circle jerks where the "moderators" delete posts and edit them whenever they "don't like it".

/Rant.

PS Post more you slack wallies :)

I am not suggesting that this board be ruled with a iron fist but there is a point when you read every thread and it is same people saying the same negative sh#t. There is middle ground between a dictatorship and a free for all. If people want to say they are unhappy with the club then that is fine and part of what this board is about but they don't repeat themselves over and over again.

Use that ignore function for the losers who spend every day and night typing their angst and overblown opinions into bigfooty.

All you needed to do was preface the OP with "Dear Clay..."

I didn't know other players being injured made players squib contests and made them tackle with one arm.

At least we have learnt one thing this year - we have genuine duds on our list who might have gotten an extra year simply because we didn't know how good they were.

Before we thought guys like Critchon and jvb were spuds. Now we know they are spuds.

There is no doubt this board is the worst it has been in the last 5 years or so. You just ignore the crap and don't visit as often.
