Conceding a 6 goal quarter against one of the worst sides going round. Only melbourne

We haven't improved at all. We are just lucky the Lions have no talls, and that GC had injuries, and that Essendon have the drug scandal. Or today's clash would more than likely be a match to see who wins the spoon. Roos has to say we have improved to cover his arse for the $$$ he is on. We are still lazy. We are still heartless. We are still slow. Our skills are still the worst in the comp. We have an out dated game plan. If we aren't the worst professional club in Australia on a regular basis, then god help the club who is.

As much as Roos is questionable sometimes this is on the players, we are so lazy.
We've had ~5 coaches and 100 odd players in the last decade. At some point you have to stop blaming the individual coaches and the playing group and have a look at the structure of the club.

Essendon beat us

I'm terrified.

How can we expect to retain their decent players when they've been drafted by a completely incompetent club.

Frawley will have waited 8 years for his first final when he fronts up for the Hawks this year. I can't see players like Brayshaw and Hogan sticking around that long for nothing.

We beat Collingwood for the first time in nearly 10 years, Won in SA for the first time in 15 years last year, Won at the cattery for the first time in a Decade
Beat carlton for the first time in a decade last year....

Dont let the emotions of today blind you from the fact that 2 years ago we could only beat the expansion sides

Why exactly was DB sacked? Not saying we replicate the manoeuvre but, seriously...
The same reason every coach is sacked. Media/ Supporter pressure.

His record considering we were tanking is excellent.

We are better tanking. Proven stat. Hopefully the boys aim to lose in the second half. I won't know or care because I'm busy googling zen stuff and drinking with abandon.

This is what will inevitably hurt the club. Any potential A graders would look at the last two weeks and say no thank you. And our future stars in Hogan and Brayshaw will look at other sides who play finals every year, and say I'll have a piece of that for $300,000 less a year thanks. This club is completely broken. We have paid Roos nearly twice as any other coach to come in and fix it. But we see the same sh*t we see every other year. Saints, GWS and Dogs(who arguably were a year ahead of us) have flown past us. GC will fly past us again once they get all their injured players back. That leaves us with Carlton and Lions and the Blues are proving they are more than capable of handing us our arses. Roos won't lose his job as he is untouchable, but some serious heat deserves to come on him tbh. He doesn't give two sh*ts because he knows he won't be coaching by the end of next year.

Hogan's got every right to get the hell out of here, who could possibly question him?

I nearly want him to, as I'd love to see this kids full potential. He is wasted at this broken football club. Having said that, If he walks, I walk. He is the ONLY reason I am still tuning in to watch this dribble.

6 wins for the season, and almost 80%, and 14th position on the ladder.

Taking a step back for the moment, I think at the start of the season that was about a pass mark for the team.

Doesn't make it easy to take losses like this, however that is what happens when Dees fans get cocky, expecting an automatic win with nonsense like "Hogan is going to kick 10 goals for the first time".

Season 2015 - definitely something to build on. More wins, less blowout losses. Going to be a few shockers, but this is a low-skill side...players don't just get skill over an off-season or a new coach. Add Petracca, another preseason for the young blokes, shave off a few more duds...slowly step up.

I didn't know there was a direct correlation between a poster asking Jesse Hogan to kick 10 goals and our team being a complete and utter shit basket.

I can't wait for 2022 when we should be primed for a tilt at winning 8 games for the year. I'm so excited I don't know what I'll do with myself. Oh god my head's getting dizzy just thinking about it, I need to sit down, this is too much to take in.

It's efforts like this that make the wins against decent teams look like flukes. Being able to put away the "bottom" clubs should be step one.
We have beaten some of the better teams, and them completely been smashed by the poorer teams.

WTF is that about?

Yeah, I told them we'd be lucky if he kicked 3 or 4 today. But how could anyone be cocky after our performance last week. You don't turn around an 100 point drubbing and expect to win easily the week after. It doesn't matter who you play. There are still so many problems at this football club. We still need to cut around half our list as they are not up to this level. People defending Garland and Howe need to realise these two guys are not up to this level. Not in this team anyway. Maybe in A Hawthorn they could get away with their level, but not at MFC. Look at Lumumba! The guy is an All Australian Premiership defender. But he had good players around him at Collingwood. He has been found out to be a fraud at the MFC, because he is surrounded by a bunch of players who have simply no idea.

Every player we recruit from here on, must be a better than average kick of the football. We simply need players who can hit targets. We have maybe 4-5 players who are better than average. And these guys kick footballs for a living!!! That is simply unacceptable that we have so few players who can actually kick the ball well. It is the fundamental part of our game, and we only have a handful of players who do it well. Finals next year is a pipedream. Still years away..

I always try to look for the positives, but that first half was certainly disappointing.

Mostly because we are starting to mount more disappointing patches than I would have expected this year, unfortunately.

Are you suggesting that two extra wins and a bit of an extra percentage each season is a pass mark?? At that rate, 2025 is looking good.

The Bulldogs say hello.

Hi all, long time Melbourne supporter/lurker here...

I'm still laughing my ass off that incompetents' the likes of Jeremy Howe think they can command 600k a year, well good luck, bud...

Our players don't even care. They're lucky to be employed.
