Forget the rest dudes....I know who Dimma is referring to.
He has read TW's notes and is waiting to pounce on JON. The whole FTF and the updgrade to the faclilities have been targetted to "lure" JON back, so he doesnt have to go around and look at other facilities, like Judd did...;)

better off spending 500 thousand a season on two realy good players, as opposed to one million a season on one great player. carlton wont win a premiership with judd, bookmark it.

what do u reckon our odds are of us picking him up at years end?

slim to none.

If we look honestly at what we have to offer for these type of players that have been mentioned what do people REALISTICALLY think we would have to give up? Also, what the players club would REALISTICALLY want in return?

Scully?
Trengove?
Dangerfield?
Clarke?
McIntosh?

(Just a few names that have been mentioned)

Now look at what we have to give up?

1st round pick (about 16-20)
2nd round pick (about 35-40)
3rd round pick (about 50-55)
Players such as (Nahas, Connors, Edwards, Tuck, McGuane, Thursfield etc)
Compo pick which could be about pick 20 next year in a strong draft.

Now looking at that what could we offer to one of those teams to get those players? Its going to be a struggle to get them without giving up something we don't want to lose.

EDIT: I think we could get Trengove and McIntosh. The rest would be too costly in what we would have to give up even if they nominated Richmond. Good chance most of those clubs finish below us and then the PSD is not a threat.

LMAO..i know we all have a distict hatred for the tankers, but speaking with both eyes open, all i can suggest is that Judd wasnt the player he was when he arrived at Carlton, but won another brownlow and is staring at another one. So me thinks this dude dont **** around and whatever anyone says and adding to the fact that they will most likely make top 4, the Judds of this planet can drag that team over the line in big ones..so be afraid be very afraid.

If you want more pain, i can guarantee ya that if Judd were a tiger right now, we would be top 4, that is the extent of his influence on games, even without a ruckman. ;)

You can't possibly believe that?!?!
If this was the case, explain how Carlton has not finished Top 4 once since Judd joined their team?

Hang on, so because Carlton may be Top 4 THIS YEAR for the first time in 4 years at Carlton you think Judd in our side would automatically make Richmond Top 4 this year also?
That makes no sense at all, there are 22 players in a side, not 4-5.

nope i ment missing link a player that will help us achieve our goal of a flag like judd is doing for carlton.

Cause no doubt Murphy is learning from Judd and carlton is reaping the benefits

Thought i might bring this up again... seeing Judds stats so far and seriously if he was still at WCE carlton wouldn't be were there at atm

Newman has another year or two in him?

cotch is i believe not ready after watching the West coast game

Bring in some experience to develop our younger players especially cotch into a winning side

Cotch dosent really know how to bring a team across the line but with guidence from a Judd "like"

We should be targetting guys like Rockliff (21), Redden (20), Fyfe (19), Shiels (20), Suckling (23) and Robinson (22) rather than a 26-27 year old judd like player. This is not an exhaustive list, but you will notice most of these guys were lowish draft picks, may have caught their teams by surprise in terms of salary cap planning and are all guns already with the potential to get even better. None will go cheap, but we could potentially get two of them for less than 1 judd/ablett.

Does anyone think that the part below of the new system will have more of an impact?? Does this mean teams can pick up delisted players WITHOUT using draft picks? So I would imagine there will be a massive rise in the 2nd and 3rd tier players moving between clubs, filling gaps/needs for teams, and moving interstate (back home) by players. Of course, a position on the list still gets taken up, but players and clubs won't have to stuff around waiting for draft day. (Although it couild be argued, 'only deadwood is ever delisted' , so may only help a few 'late developers'??)

2. A player has served seven seasons or less of AFL football at one club, and has been delisted by his club.

The player is a Free Agent and is eligible to field offers from all rival AFL clubs.

The player must decide on the best offer of his choice from one rival club.

The player can move AUTOMATICALLY to the new club of his choice.

His original club, which chose to delist him, does not receive any compensation pick for the loss of the player.

The only player in the league I would ever consider spending close to that money on right now is Nic Nat. Would be worth every cent, is definitely the type of player you can build an entire footy team around. I can't see him ever leaving West Coast though.

Once free agency comes around expect a lot more of these big dollar contracts to start happening, its only a matter of time before someone offers $10 million for a player.

are we alowed to offer them a signing fee?

Say if we wanted a great player like Dangerfield could we give him like 250 grand just to sign with us ? gives him more reason to sign and it dosent effect the salary cap

Like what they do in NBA

In a way I would hate that. Imagine the amount Collingwood and Essendon could offer for signing fees. Clubs like Port Adelaide and North Melbourne couldn't compete
