Every now and then you see something happen in a Crows game that you know Rucci would just loooove to ridicule in one of his articles.

Todays Rucci moment goes to Brett Burton who poleaxed his teammate in Ken McGregor leaving Riewoldt acres of land to run into before passing it to Gehrig who took yet another contested mark and goaled.

On a side note, when Mark Aiston said, 'bad news for Crows fans, looks like Bassett is injured', did anyone else think, 'WOOHOO!!!' ... not that Smart did any better when he went on Gehrig.

And Scott Stevens, whenever he gets the ball, one of two things happens:
- he kicks a behind
- he kicks it to the opposition
Ironically one of his passes to his St Kilda teammate (oops you mean he wasn't playing for them?) failed because the St Kilda guy dropped the mark and McLeod goaled as a result.

If you read my pre-season training reports, you would have noticed that I said that this bloke sprays them so much, you wouldn't want him to be kicking for goal to save your life - you'd be a dead man for sure!!

If he can't kick 'em at training he ain't going to kick them when it counts.

Did anyone listen Ayres's press conference on 5AA??????

I know I bag Rucci at every chance I get but you've got to love his humour at the PC.

Rucci: "Gary if I put 5 grand on the table would you make a comment about umpiring tonight?"

Ayres: "Whats the color of your money?"

Rucci: "I'll write you a check"

Morale of the story is that even Rucci saw how ****house the umpiring was tonight. Before half time 2 clear infringments went unpunished and Saints went on to kick 2 goals from those 2 blunders.

Umpire Vozzo is a w@nker. I think AFC need to do a Hirdy.:o

I did chuckle at that one Stiffy - a very funny moment.

I think Ayres demeanour at the Press Conference deserves mention. Although oblivious to little details like structure and gameplan, he did present himself as cool, calm and collected, and both determined and confident to turn the club around.

He gave credit to St Kilda for a deserved win, but didn't knock his own players.

I thought that he did redeem some brownie points in that press conference.

He did handle himself very well and answered some tough questions very well. He did admit that our list is a bit think and is nott helped by having a big chunk of KPP on injury list.

Rutten, Bock and Watts getting thru yesterday is a big help.

Getting Hart and Krueger off the injury list would also be a bonus.

Are we having a Rucci award as an ongoing thing? If so, dont call it a Rucci moment. He'll like seeing his name on the site every week.

Thus I propose that we name the award the FERRETT HEAD moment of the week.

And did you think Sydney were going to trade a "champion" for a 3rd round draft pick?.
Still he was recruited for a role,he is young, and his skills will improve. He is still an improvement on Schell, lets remember.

Objectively, umpiring didn't effect the game outcome at all ( as it very very rarely does)
More issues within the AFC, that affected the result, than umpiring.

His presentation at the Fremantle Press conference, was also highly commendable.
Couldnt knock his players on last nights performance, simply their personnel in key positions were better than ours.

I could think of a few more descriptive names such as the D##k Head award but i'll settle for Ferret Head. :)

In the long run it probably didn't affect the outcome of the game BUT at the time those blunders by umpire Vozzo occured was extremely crutial. Those 2 decisions cost us 2 goals just before half time.

Extremely poor umpiring last night but taking nothing away from the Saints they were fantastic.

I wouldn't be so fast to claim that. Schell played some alright games and kicked 4 goals against the best side in the competition.

He took some nice pack marks, moreso than bloody Stevens anyway.

In all honesty guys and gals I reckon Ayres handles himself all the time and BTW take a look at the free kick count:p

It's not how many are given, it's where they're given. St. Kilda got a few dodgy ones where it counted.

Dyertribe take a look at the replay mate objectively and you will find that all of the free kicks paid to BOTh sides were spot on

There the type of memories that he can pass on to his children. But doing it once didn't make for a long AFL career.
Excluding PS, Stevens has played 3 games, lets judge him a little further down the track.
M.Stevens was called a work-horse and an average footballer by Reid, in his early years with the crows. It wasn't until he moved from CHB to CHF that all of us and club mangement suddenly realised he was more than just an average footballer.

Stevens has played well more than 3 games mate...he's had a lot more chances than Schell...
