I'm sick of writing on a Thursday night that I think the Eagles can win on the weekend. Since they've made it clear that they couldn't beat the Doubleview Primary School Girl's Team, this week I'm just going to tell you who's in and who's out for Sunday's match with Melbourne.
Ashley McIntosh will be a welcome return to the backline. Too often this year the Eagles have lacked a reliable rock to hold the defence together, and McIntosh's presence will help take some of the pressure off players such as Trent Carroll and David Wirrpunda.

We lose Peter Matera and Michael Braun to injury from last week, which robs the team of valuable experience, and Captain Dean Kemp has almost certainly played his last game after suffering yet another concussion. Young ruckman Dean Cox is also out after hurting his shoulder.

Kemp has yet to make a decision on his future, as tributes to his courage and contribution to the team poured in from around the country this week.

Veteran Ryan Turnbull has been named for his second senior game of the the year, as have Travis Gaspar and David Haynes. Kane Munro, Chad Fletcher and Mark Merenda have also been recalled, with three players still to be cut before Sunday.

The Record: West Coast have played Melbourne 26 times. The Eagles have won 16 times to the Demons 10. Last time they played Melbourne were 70 point winners, in Round 22 2000.

The team doesn't look particularly strong. We only lost 4 players, none of which really have had any impact this season(maybe roo in patches), yet the team looks really weak.

I hope a few players have a day out, otherwise we will be just another percentage boost for the dees.

CARN THE EAGLES!!!

Well I've had a look at the team and I really hope that Carroll and Jakovich swap around before or during the game. A better line up for me would be:

FB: Collica McIntosh Glass
HB: Wirrpunda Carroll Wooden
C: Morrison Cousins Chambers
HF: Embley Jakovich Jones
FF: Matera Cummings Williams
R: Gardiner Taylor Kerr
Int: Gaspar Haynes Turnball Munro
Em: Haynes Humm Fletcher

That would be a better side I feel though Im never really sure of where to put Jones.

I dont like Carroll at CHF, after his rocky start he seems to have found his feet a little better in defence and Jako also seems to be enjoying his time at CHF. So i agree with Vis, swap them. Run Jones on the ball tagging either Yze or Woewodin. Team looks weak as hell though.

I'm back from the wonders od Melbourne, Sydney and Newcastle  and have to say that the side announced doesn't seem as bad as people are saying. I think Jako has to play on Schwartz, who else is physically strong enough? At last we have a good marking defence available in Milli, Glass, Jako, Collica and Carrol. The wakness may be who to put on Farmer. He will lose Wirra amd Wooden is not a back pocket player.
In midfield Cousins, Taylor, Morrisson, Kerr, Humm and perhaps Fletcher look good with maybe Jones Tagging Woewodin, Chamber on a wing would be good as it is where he is best.
Up forward Scotty and Joey are good and I'd like to see Munro in a Brett Heady role. Haynes needs a go at CHF but we need Turnbull as an option to Ruck with Gardy at CHF.
The loss of perennially injured and aging Kempy and Roo is more than countered by the return of Milli and Glass getting match fit.
Don't forget we beat the pies in the first quarter before the bench got decimated and we can build on that.
I'm off to the TAB again and expect to win.

I love your optimism but lets be honest we will probably lose :D

I must admit to losing $5 on Freo today too, but at $11 and Essendons reputation for honesty there was a chance that Sheeds would have a few dollars on Freo too ;)

Still $3.00 on an Eagles win is good odds

And it also makes me happier to dream of a win.

Scotty kicking six, Joey four with Chambers and Munro two each and looking like stars. Wooden bog playing on the ball in place of kemp with 45 possessions and 17 tackles. Wirra taking the ball from the back pocket all the way and goaling.

Anyhow, back to reality. Himm and Turnbull played for Royals today so they are out of eagles team. Antonowitz and Buszan played blinders

David Haynes has been listed as an emergency, but I really hopes he gets an AFL game today. It would be bad for him to miss out on playing WAFL if he won't even get an AFL game.

A win and $60 to collect from the TAB too :D
Yessssssssssssss.........................

And did you see the 30,000 al there at the end cheering and singing? What a moment for the young players. Wooden,Fletcher, Gaspar, Chambers, Munro, Kerr, Carrol, Embley, Williams, Jones. They will remember this win.

Judgey says 95% chance Morrisson will need recon :(
Is it the Subi surface or just bad luck?

Can't be subi, Sierakowski did his knee at shell stadium and Read did his at football park.

On the other hand, Prior, Banfield(??) and now Morrison did their knees at subi, thats a lot of knees.

Maybe the hard surface is contributing to all those injuries the eagles are suffering. But then, why hasn't it effected freo?

Oh and i was wrong about switching Jako and Carroll. Jako did a great job on Schartz. But i was right on the money with Jones, he only had like 2 touches all day but he kept Yze right out of the contest, great job by jones.
