I don't plan to do this every round but I have a number of observations I would like to share for the round so I thought I'd just make one thread discussing everything.
AFL:
Brent Macaffer the forward. Has found his goal kicking boots again and has confidence in his goal kicking abilities which is great to see. Might just have found himself a permanent position there if he can maintain his form. Add Medhurst and with Dick pressing for selection that is great depth! But really liking this move up forward, this is his natural position and it looks like his natural position too.
Goldsack - The full back torpedo. Excellent set play and without a doubt a highlight. Nice tap on from Jolly.
The way the side is playing I can tell that Mick really values marks taken in space right in front of goal. Has been great all season and that focus was continued today. We have really progressed a long way with our marks taken inside 30 and that improvement is to be commended.
Really looking like a team now. Players consistently doing the team things and even with the greater talent this side has, we are looking like just as great a team as we did in 2002. Which says we again have the opportunity to be there on grand final day and possibly have a crack at a premiership. We don't have a weak link which is fantastic!
The Alan Didak shimmy. Liked it.
Leigh Brown another 2 good years left in the tank. Has clearly had a big offseason and the work he has put in is clearly paying dividends.
VFL:
Paul Medhurst - For probably the past month and a half has been looking strong in the VFL and his player is just so good that we can't keep him out of the side any longer. His creativeness and dangerousness in front of goal could add allot. All that needs to be said is Paul Medhurst is back! He would come in for Tarkyn Lockyer who has been in fantastic form and those who are saying Rounds should be picked ahead of Lockyer are in my view wrong, but Medhurst is simply playing such good football that he cannot be denied of a place in our best 22. I'd pick him as being in our best 18. It would more so come down to which of Lockyer/ Macaffer he replaces, but with Macaffer back to his goal kicking ways I like Macaffer more because he is more versatile and can do more things along with provide allot more pressure inside 50.
Nathan Brown - Looking excellent and is again pushing for selection. Still would prefer him at CHB over Reid, but I'd still persist with keeping Reid in the side (in the scenario that Brown is bought in) and play him in a more sweeping role accross half back where he can best use his rebounding skills. Would for now at minimum be listing Brown amongst the emergencies and very seriously consider him over the comming weeks if his great form continues. Probably not against Carlton because they don't have the tall targets up forward but possibly for Geelong or there after Brown needs to be in selection discussions.
John McCarthy - Has had a solid month. Not saying he is close to being in our best 22 but is playing some good footy and being amongst our better players in the 2s. Pretty happy with the way he is going for now and glad to see him playing some good footy.
Josh Thomas - Not going to say he is going to debut this season. That would be a near unrealistic ask of the kid in his first year when we have such a loaded midfield. But he is comming along just as I'd hoped. Really having a great impact at VFL level and over the past month has been consistantly amongst the best. Making great progress and likely will debut in 2011.
Luke Rounds - Has had a strong 2 months of footy. Many are saying he should replace Tarkyn Lockyer. I'm still not buying that, Lockyer is still a solid player who consistantly contributes and Rounds hasn't dominated in the 2s to the extent that he is a better selection choice because at this stage I don't believe him to be at this stage. I have Medhurst, Davis, Macaffer, Dick and Lockyer all ahead of Rounds. He is putting together some nice footy and is progressing well, but these more experienced players that are still playing better footy and in a year we are right up there we need to play our best 22 ever week which Rounds like Josh Thomas isn't quite in this year, but you can bet next season he will be there abouts if his progress continues!
Right now my best 22 stands at: (But again this feels like a week to week thing so it will change and so it should depending on form, yet it is still settled enough for any combination of these players to be able to enter the team at any point and contribute to the game plan which is ideal)

[FONT="]Really any combination of this 25 right now could play because they are all playing at AFL form. But this is my current interpretation. I rate the form of all these players very highly at this point in the season.
