We did a similar job on the Demons, they were smoking when we ran into them. I think it is something common with young sides when they are on the up, very vulnerable to being picked apart. We were going okay until we ran into Geelong, they made us look fairly ordinary.

Big reality check, it was going to come around sooner rather than later.
FWIW Freo barely beating Melbourne in Subi confirms my thoughts about them being out of form. Sydney raping Carlton...just made me happy:):thumbsu:

damn I had a whole Atlantic Salmon booked for NEXT weekend to get slapped in the face with.

I thought we were Nths bogey team but I guess the tables have turned.

and my tipping is in tatters this weekend as well.

Im just glad Ive been too busy to get to the TAB...

Like Cousins said, baby steps. 'Thump' is exactly the noise you usually hear a lot when babies first learn to walk. And there will be quite a few 'thumps' in the next 12 to 20 games. But then it will be "clobbering time".

Our 22 is comming along nicely. Still a few changes though and a few people that should step up like Griffiths, Taylor and Morton. We have a lot of potential all around the ground but not all of them will make it. Hopefully we get a few more guns in this years draft.

norths bigger bodies in those conditions were a key factor. i'm rapt in the way the club is going.

this i think sums up the loss more than anything.
to me structurally we have a long way to go size wise even farther.

two things for that game and most games. we went in very short cousins, edwards, webberley, king, nahas, tambling, farmer, and white, in that sort of weather i suppose it was worth a risk. the reality was only cuz gave us any real output.

small and light in any conditions is not going to work especially when what talls you have are on the light side.

those on the undersized side of the coin edwards, webberley, king, collins, mcguane, moore, nahas, riewoldt, astbury thursfield vickery. so in effect short and undersized.
to top it all off imo one or two too many poor kicks as well.

how do we fix this. well in the short term there is few solutions. obviously jackson whose size we missed, morton who has a bit of size, browne who is possibly the biggest player we have. gourdis who really should have been given a game by now. post is another so is polak and rance.

the trick is getting enough big bodies into the team so we can be competetive without playing to many poor kicks.

to me we now have a chance to give some other players a go.

set up down back with
b/ connors - gourdis - newman
hb/ deledio - thursfield - moore.
c/ edwards - martin - collins
hf/ nason - post - morton
f/ cotchin - riewoldt - astbury.
r/ graham - tuck - cousins.
int/ browne - webberley - farmer - polo

of all those not named only jackson and foley would be walk up starts.

look how easy it is to keep good structure. play heaps of talls put a prority on bigger taller players while not losing to much pace and manage to keep the poor kicks to a manageable level.
its also flexable with the talls post and astbury could go back if need be. its a shame kids like dea and taylor are injured especially dea who has the size to cope with another block of games.
with jackson rubbed out it would have been good to see what thomson has to offer if anything but hes injured.would also like to see what polo can do in a tight tagging role.

anyway just my thoughts
