I have a lot of people going to this game (including a cousin who is coming over from Scotland) who want to see the game.

Just wondering, i was thinking of getting tickets up in the top tier of the west or east stand, how much are they? Can anyone tell me //?

I've never been out to Homebush for the AFL before, was hoping to get to the Weagles grudge match though. Any thoughts on how Homebush compares to the SCG?

Sheesh, talk it up why don't you!? I've been to a few rugby games out there - seems to always be so far from the action regardless of where i sat - didn't think AFL would be that suitable for a spectacle.

I don't like it there. The seats are definately too far away and the atmosphere is basically non existant. Oh well, what can you do about it?

I don't think it'd be enough to make me want to miss seeing the swannies tear the weagles a new one in retribution...

Telstra sh1ts on the SCG, but avoid the top tiers at all cost. They never get full, and the walk up the spirals of death to get there will sap you of all your energy reserves.
Anywhere in the lower bowl is good. Ticketek are selling 3 jomebush game tickets for $60 (all 3) including the WC game. Outstanding value.

Would you recomend the top tier, for someone who hasn't been to an AFL game and wouldn't know all the rules to get a good over view of the whole ground etc? I don't want to get tickets for the game behind the goals (where i've sat a few times) for my cousin coming from Scotland not to be able to get a good grasp of the game where it isn't the best of views when the ball is up the other side of the field.

Agree that an elevation and a centre-line position probably make it easier for a newbie to get an impression of the game. You'd be better off trying to get Level 4 tickets if possible - still a good elevation - but they can be quite hard to get sometimes, are more likely to be towards a pocket, and cost a bit more than most.

If you can get seats in the first couple of rows of Level 6, the height isn't too bad. And if you can get them close to around Aisle 610, they'll be close to the centre line. But you still have to negotiate the "spiral of death" that Dr Jolly mentioned!

I'm probably looking at Level 6, it's easier on the pocket since i'm shouting a few people to the game! Thanks for the advice!

I need to buy one of those member guest passes. I've never done it before though so i don't know what happens. Usually i sit in 101-1 but will my guest pass be for there aswell? Or will we have to go sit somewhere else? It's too confusing.

Just to let everyone know who is planning on getting tickets, i'd get in quick! I got mine today and i'd say the top tiers on the wings are almost sold out!

I had the same problem Ed. I wanted to get 3 superpasses but there were hardly any seats left where they were selling the $35 tickets that had been advertised in the telegraph and on TV. the attendant at my local ticketek sensed my frustration and could do nothing about it.
I even went online to ticketek.com just to be sure and it was going to cost me $300+ just to get a superpass for 3 people.

in fact the only superpasses left in the $35 areas are "single" tickets and I honestly don't think any lone swans fans would go alone to 3 games. I had to settle for the 3 single cheapies tix on the second level (towards the roof).

I don't get it last year tickets to the finals game against fremantle must have had a different seating arrangement or something. because I managed to get 2 seats on the second level behind goal for the price I paid to get 2 seats at the WCE game. Nevertheless I'll be out there in full force in my candy cane colours
on a final note just a word of advice to those planning to go to the game buy your tickets ASAP it looking to be almost a sellout

A sellout! Ahh... I'm so excited!!! The tension is killing me.

Decided to go to Round One. Sitting in 113 Non-Alcohol Bay. Under 18 :thumbsd:

I like sitting in the pockets in the ground rows. Just a personal preference for some reason. Got my tickets to the game and looking forward to seeing another Swans vs Eagles home game. Last one I went to was around 2000 at the SCG.

As for venue, The stadium is alright.... but doesn't compare to SCG at night in my eyes. However, night Telstra games seem a tad better than SCG day games. But if youline them up equally, the SCG will always come out on top.

And the mad scramble for trains is a pain in the ass for Homebush.

I was considering 2 three game passes for 60-65 bucks, but the only ones it was throwing up were in the top tiers which I am not a huge fan of. Each to their own, of course!

Any particular reason why?

I wish I could really pinpoint a reason. You do get a lot more a-holes closer to the field and generally end up with some random throwing a cup of beer everywhere, but I like being that much closer to the players and relatively at eye level. I start to appreciate their skills a lot more that way.

Although, when I go see two teams I don't support, it's nice to sit higher up and get a nice view of all the action.

Closer to ground makes for better photos as well. Haha. Well, with my cheap camera.

Ah, i only got them up in the tiers cause of the cousin and a mate coming over from Scotland really. It will give them a better view of all the action like you say cause they probably don't understand all the rules, rather than struggling to figure out whats going on over the other side of the field if you were sitting behind the goals.

Should be a good crowd but I really hope I don't bump into those who are lost when it comes to the great game of rules footy (you'll soon see what I mean).
like last year when I went to purchase some swans gear at my local rebel sport before I went to a match the casher asked me "so what time is Kick off?" "its first bounce" I corrected her

or when I went to the freo v Swans final and was seated near a group of people also engrossed in the NRL game between broncos and bulldogs. they had a radio and turned it up full blast

or at the same game that group behind me when there was a decision that went the Dockers way, yelled "you stupid REFEREE" and I said "its UMPIRE!!!"

nothing wrong with the casual fans of course but if you see them do try and correct them, try and get them to love and know the rules of this brilliant aussie game
