And yet others in this thread are claiming he failed to act

By the way, if you think the "Chairman of the Match Committee" even goes glose to ober-riding the coaching staff you have rocks in your head

He just about single-handedly ousted Ken Judge. He had a lot of pulling power.

From what I've heard, he was the man who reported on players and coaches back to the board. He "dobbed" on anyone who stuffed up.

That was his problem.

He never did. Lost Ben, Nearly Chad, allowed Chris to Stray and played apart in the loss of Judd.

See also Aaron Edwards.

Good riddance.

As chairman of the match commitee was a key reason why the club suspended Cousins in the preseason of 2007. Given that no positive drug test existed, that effectively outed an integral player and opened a pandoras box. The fallout from that piece of genius effectively shut a premiership window and orchestrated 2008, the worst season in our history.

Yeah, we should have just left everything the way it was - rotten.

What happens on the field isn't the only measure of a footy club. Hopefully, the fabric of the club has been cleansed over the last 12 months and that will have an impact for years to come.

Before anyone else sees fit to get on here and bag Geppy, just remember he has been a long serving and loyal servant of the club and only last year was given life membership, only one of about 30-35 people to have been afforded this privilege. :thumbsu:

Like many others here, I have no idea as to what Tim Gepp's role has actually been, but if what you say is correct re life membership etc (and I don't doubt it) , it'd be a shame if he was somehow scapegoated for the last few years' screw-ups.

He just about single-handedly ousted Ken Judge. He had a lot of pulling power.

Was on the match commitee in our early(re: premiership)years.

Was brought back to sack Judge as noone else had the clout to do so, and was the chairman of the match commitee in 2006.

But shit, he had some part in sacking Cousins, so let's all be happy to be rid of him...

The reason Tim Gepp lasted so long is that he had one powerful friend on the board but I know the current coaching team were keen for him to move on, which has finally happened.
Gepp and Ken Judge used to be good friends. They both started their coaching careers down at West Coast amateurs, where Gepp coached the first year and Judge played occasionally and Judge coached the second year and Gepp played occasionally.
When Gepp was called on to review Judge's coaching at the Eagles everyone thought it was a bit of a joke because they knew each other so well.
Ultimately, Gepp's report ended Judge's reign and also their friendship.
I think it was time for him to move on. As for his work with the club, unless you are an insider, you don't really know - besides the report mentioned - what exactly he did.

More a case of assuming it was all him is idiotic. He was a part time employee with limited influence, particularly over recent years.

I am sure you will find that he was a full time employee with a lot of clout thanks to his close association with Nisbett and a certain Board member.

I actually know him pretty well and he is a nice bloke.

But.......I don't think he did to much for the footy club and don't think he will be a great lose.

Do we need any further proof this club is going around in circles? The fact he was brought back at all is extremely embarrassing for the board - but then to promote him to the coaches box - their sanity is brought into question.

It is becoming more and more obvious that the top end needs cleaning out at our club.

I wonder what Simpson makes of his re-hiring, I am sure he has heard the Judge stories?

I don't think anyone involved in the Cousins Era debarcle should be let anywhere near the club, it's like we have suddenly gone backwards three steps.

Everyone needs to go. Starting with nisbett then we need to work down from there

How can Woosh fall on his sword for not being able to do anymore for the club and not take anyone else with him.

I am starting to think that there should be more pressure on the higher ups of the club (Cransberg aside)

Ahh yep.

This is his 16th season as CEO, which is massive rein in this competition, not to mention he was Football Manager for a long time before that.

We are something like the second biggest sporting club in Australia, and we have only made the finals twice in the last seven seasons.

It's time for him to move aside, his reputation is becoming toxic.

I am all for loyalty through service, but this is getting ridiculous...

Fresh ides, fresh faces, fresh thinking

and we have only made the finals twice in the last seven seasons.

This alone should make the board stand up and take notice

Again listening to Ken Judge on Saturday, he said that there are member representatives on the Freo Board. Why do we not have this?

As members, why do we not get a say on the running of the club. We have as much invested in the organisation, than the people running it. It is time that there were some changes

It's really concerning how we can have a CEO in power for 16 years. Seems very far from what you'd expect at such a high level.

Up to the end of 2007 we only ever missed finals four times (1987, 1989, 2000 and 2001) in 21 completed seasons. Since then we've missed finals 5 times including his season with only 2011 and 2012 bringing a finals showing. We also won our first ever spoon in 2010

There's no signs that we are about to embark on a serious tilt at a flag with our current list. Something needs to change because what we've been doing isn't working
