It's a bit early but let's put our bits on the line with some predictions for Collingwood and the AFL in 2011.

Can they make finals in 2011? If so can they be REAL contenders to the flag?

Adelaide: Yes
Brisbane: No
Carlton: Yes
Collingwood: Contenders
Essendon: No
Fremantle: Contenders
Geelong: Contenders
Gold Coast: No
Hawthorn: Contenders
Melbourne: No
North Melbourne: Yes
Port Adelaide: No
Richmond: No
St Kilda: Contenders
Sydney: Yes
West Coast: No
Western Bulldogs: Yes

I am saying there are 7 teams that absolutely will not make the finals: Brisbane, Essendon, Gold Coast, Melbourne, Port Adelaide, Richmond, West Coast.

How many games for Krakeour?
I'm bullish on him. 17. He'll play midfield.

How does Tarrant fit in, if he does?
I'm thinking he will be first 22, keeping Presti out if indeed he stays on. I think he'll release Reid to be a loose man and Taz can even play on smaller players. He could play forward as well, putting pressure on Leigh Brown and Dawes.

2011 pie debutants?
J.Thomas, Sinclair and McNamara.
Krakouer as well of course.

All Australians

Pies chances: As well as the 2010 AAs, Jolly, Thomas, Wellingham and Reid. Maybe Steele as a hff.

Other smokies: Nathan Bock back to near best, Lachie Hanson.

Will Mick stay on as coaching director
Yes

Who needs to fight to retain their spot on the list?

Davis, Presti, McCarthy, Buckley, Wood.

Add more questions if you wish and be bold in your predictions!

J.Thomas, Sinclai,Rounds,Keefe,Young and McNamara.
Krakouer as well of course.

All Australians

Pies chances: Pendles,Didak,Jolly,Reid,Sidebottom and Thomas. Dawes as an Outside Chance

Hawthorn: Yes

North Melbourne: No
Port Adelaide: No

St Kilda: Contenders
Sydney: Yes
West Coast: No
Western Bulldogs: Yes

Melbourne have the easiest draw of anyone, and could sneak into 7th or 8th. North will struggle to win 12 games IMO, while sides like Port, WCE, Richmond, Brisbane and the Gold Coast are making up the numbers.
I don't consider Hawthorn a premiership threat, no backline, still.

How many games for Krakeour?
23 games (will miss 1-2 through injury/suspension). Will be this year's Michael Barlow, minus the broken leg.

How does Tarrant fit in, if he does?
SUPER SUB. Especially if JA or Presti leave this week, Taz will have a spot in the 22 most weeks, if fit.

2011 pie debutants?
J.Thomas, Young, Rounds, Keefe, Krakouer.

All Australians

Pies; Reid, Thomas, Pendles, Swan, Didak, Shaw, Toovey.

Will Mick stay on as coaching director
Yes, for at least the first year.

Who needs to fight to retain their spot on the list?

Presti, Davis, Wood, McCarthy, Reed (rookie), Buckley, Johnson (age)

NEW QUESTIONS;

Who wins the 2011 Copeland Trophy?

Scott Pendlebury

How many games will the pies win? (home and away)

18 wins, 4 losses this year for the Pies.

2011 pie debutants?
Don't see enough of the young guys to comment.

All Australians
Hopefully plenty

Will Mick stay on as coaching director
yes

Who needs to fight to retain their spot on the list?
McCarthy, Buckley

I am saying there are 4 teams that absolutely will not make the finals:
Port Adelaide, Essendon, Gold Coast, Richmond

How many games for Krakeour?
21. Played as a rotation midfielder who also spends some time as a high half forward flanker. More inside than the 2009 Leon.

How does Tarrant fit in, if he does?
I think he will be best 22, has all the motivation in the world and is going to fight his way into the side. I expect him to play the Jimmy Clement role where he takes the most dangerous forward type role. Feel he will mostly play medium/3rd tall and some KPP also. So I think he will be able to fit into the side with Reid + Presti/N.Brown.

2011 pie debutants?
Krakouer, J.Thomas, S.Buckley

All Australians

Pies chances: Swan, Pendlebury, D.Thomas, Harry O, A.Didak, D.Jolly, S.Wellingham, B.Reid, H.Shaw, T.Cloke.

Will Mick stay on as coaching director
Yes

Who needs to fight to retain their spot on the list?

Davis, Buckley, S.McNamara, Dick, Rounds, B.Johnson, McCarthy, Wood, Presti, J.Anthony.

Can they make finals in 2011? If so can they be REAL contenders to the flag?

Adelaide: Unlikely - Lost too much experience
Brisbane: Unlikely - Fev & Brown could cause problems
Carlton: Unlikely - lack depth and consistency
Collingwood: Yes
Essendon: No
Fremantle: Unlikely - Too much reliance on key players
Geelong: Yes, but need things to go their way including injuries
Gold Coast: No
Hawthorn: Maybe - lacking depth but have game winning players
Melbourne: Maybe - would need all their kids to step up again
North Melbourne: Maybe - capable playing list
Port Adelaide: No
Richmond: No
St Kilda: Yes
Sydney: Maybe - new coach, capable players
West Coast: No
Western Bulldogs: Maybe - Bazza another year older, too many soft players

How many games for Krakeour?
Who knows, it depends on a lot of things but hopefully 20 if he debuts round 1 and plays good team football.

How does Tarrant fit in, if he does?
Depends a bit on Presti and also if Brown/Reid play well. Injuries and age could be a problem but 15+ playing down back.

2011 pie debutants?
I don't know, whoever is ready to step up. I haven't watched enough VFL games to be a good judge.

All Australians
All the Pies players who have won a spot in the last 2 years are a genuine chance. Thomas, Reid, dare I say Tarrant and Krakouer? Jolly.

Will Mick stay on as coaching director
I think he will, at least for a year.

Who needs to fight to retain their spot on the list?

Anthony (if he plays for us), Buckley, Davis, McCarthy, Wood

Finals - Yes, no, or flag contenders?

Adelaide: No
Brisbane: No
Carlton: Yes
Collingwood: Contenders
Essendon: No
Fremantle: Contenders
Geelong: Contenders
Gold Coast: No
Hawthorn: Yes
Melbourne: Yes
North Melbourne: Yes
Port Adelaide: No
Richmond: No
St Kilda: Contenders
Sydney: Yes
West Coast: No
Western Bulldogs: Contenders

Melbourne are monties to get in, very easy draw. I think WB will stay around the mark, might improve a little, Freo to be the main enemy and Hawthorn to yet again fall in a heap.

How many games for Krakeour?

15. Midfield.

How does Tarrant fit in, if he does?

Will be our main utility, possibly the be the designated sub but who knows, Reid, Brown, etc. may fall out of form.

2011 pie debutants?

Krakeour, S. Buckley, J. Thomas.
We only had the one debutant this year IIRC (Blair), so don't get your hopes up. Buckley will be the big improver.

All Australians

Swan, Pendles, Thomas, Shaw, Didak.

Other team smokies: Rodan, Mundy.

Will Mick stay on as coaching director

Yes.

Who needs to fight to retain their spot on the list?

Wood, McCarthy, Davis.

22 barring injury.

How does Tarrant fit in, if he does?
I have a feeling he'll also play almost every game barring injury. I have a feeling it will be between him and Goldsack for a spot (maybe sub).

Sinclair, Keeffe, Tom Young.

All Australians

On top of 2010 AAs: Jolly, Cloke, Maxwell & Thomas

Melbourne to be the real surprise packet. Up with a bullet.

How many games for Krakouer?
10- if that. I see him being a bit part player. Our team to be too strong for him to become a fixture. But he will light it up often in the vfl.

How does Tarrant fit in, if he does?
Supersub. Will prove more handy off half forward flank than in defence. Look for him to take Brown or Fev and Franklin.

2011 pie debutants?
Not many: Krak, Rounds & Buckley

All Australians

On top of 2010 AAs: Jolly, Reid, Maxwell & Thomas

Other teams smoky: Grimes

Will Mick stay on as coaching director
Yes of course.

Wood, Davis, Keefe, Johnson, Presti

Copeland Trophy
Norm Embelerry. He is the only player we have who could ever win a Brownlow

Most Goals for Pies
Travis Cloke should but Chris Dawes will

North Melbourne: Yes
Port Adelaide: No

Expect the Bulldogs to do a bit better than this year. Maybe not win anything, but at least look threatening by finals time.

How many games for Krakouer?
12-17. Think he will start round 1, but be on the fringes and miss a few games through poor form and maybe injury. I think he will be extremely inconsistent at the start of the season and hopefully fix it up by finals time.

How does Tarrant fit in, if he does?
Think he will start the season off as the understudy to Nathan Brown until an injury, poor form, or a horses for courses (Brown + Fevola) requires him in, and then expect him a run of games. Also could be trialled up forward.

2011 pie debutants?
Josh Thomas, Luke Rounds, Andrew Krakouer, and depending on how the season is going (if we have a few games up our sleeves) Tom Young.

All Australians

Daisy, Pendlebury, Swan and Didak. Heath Shaw might come close.

Other teams smoky: Swallow, Brad Green, Mundy, Mumford.

Will Mick stay on as coaching director
No

Who needs to fight to retain their spot on the list?

Davis, Anthony, Sinclair, Buckley, Wood.

Copeland Trophy
Dane Swan. Wow people have some short memories, or only seem to remember the last match played.

Most Goals for Pies
Dids again. Believe he will be played more as a flanker than a proper midfielder. Think him and Krakouer, Sidey and Beams will just rotate flank - midfield all year.

Biggest crowd for the year
Round 3 not including finals.

Can they make finals in 2011? If so can they be REAL contenders to the flag?

Adelaide: No
Brisbane: Yes
Carlton: No
Collingwood: Contenders
Essendon: Yes
Fremantle: Yes
Geelong: Yes
Gold Coast: No
Hawthorn: Contenders
Melbourne: Yes
North Melbourne: Yes
Port Adelaide: No
Richmond: Yes
St Kilda: Contenders
Sydney: Yes
West Coast: No
Western Bulldogs: Contenders

Anytime, with the right luck and injury-free is capable of making the bottom parts of the top 8 but I'm going against popular calls that Adelaide will make the finals, I don't think they will again with its current list with Craig as coach. Carlton will really falter and miss out. I think 11 teams will challenge for the 8 and Melbourne and Richmond are included in it. I can see one of, if not both, these sides really getting some big fishies in 2011. I see 4 contenders (you have to have a min of 4 considering making a Prelim is a big thing) and thats the Doggies, Pies, Saints and Hawks. Cats might make finals, but will not contend for the flag in 2011.

How many games for Krakeour?
Will be a midfielder who rests up forward, will play 20, if not 24 based on injuries.

How does Tarrant fit in, if he does?
20+

2011 pie debutants?
Young.....possibly Thomas.

All Australians

Dane Swan, Alan Didak, Chris Tarrant, Scott Pendlebury, Dale Thomas, Darren Jolly, Sharrod Wellingham, Heath Shaw, Travis Cloke, Brad Dick (if firing fit). These are all potentials, not certainties.

Other smokies: Dayne Beams, Steele Sidebottom.

Will Mick stay on as coaching director
Yes

Who needs to fight to retain their spot on the list?

I really wouldn't have a clue.

Who will win the Copeland/lead the goal scoring?

Alan Didak/Travis Cloke (Brad Dick, if he plays over 20 games)

Can they make finals in 2011? If so can they be REAL contenders to the flag?

Adelaide: Yes
Brisbane: No
Carlton: Yes
Collingwood: Contenders
Essendon: No
Fremantle: Contenders
Geelong: Yes
Gold Coast: No
Hawthorn: Contenders
Melbourne: Yes
North Melbourne: Yes
Port Adelaide: No
Richmond: No
St Kilda: Contenders
Sydney: Yes
West Coast: No
Western Bulldogs: Yes

I think 2011 will see a real changing of the guard, regards power teams. Geelong, Bulldogs and Saints will slip and I expect teams like Adelaide, Fremantle, North and Melbourne to step up.

How many games for Krakouer?
15-20. Is it me, or do players take a bit of time to find their feet with the way we play the game. Both Ball and Jolly needed a good half-dozen games before they became key players for us. Reckon Kraks will take the first half of the season to really come to grips with our structures - rounds 1-11 will be in and out of the side, second half of the season will start to get regular slots in our midfield.

How does Tarrant fit in, if he does?
He'll play the high half forward, hopefully allowing Dawes and Cloke to spend more time closer to goal, where they are much more dangerous.

2011 pie debutants?
Dark horse for me is Lachlan Keefe. He's played as a defender in the VFL really well, but people forget he's a 200cm ruckman originally and with the new sub-system coming in, a flexible big man like him might displace the likes of Leroy Brown.

All Australians
The usual suspects, plus Ben Reid.

Other teams smoky: Ryan Griffen, Shane Mumford, Keiran Jack.

Will Mick stay on as coaching director
Yes

Who needs to fight to retain their spot on the list?
Davis, Wood.

Copeland Trophy
Dale Thomas

Most Goals for Pies
Chris Dawes. Good kick and with Tarrant alleviating his need to venture up the ground so much, he'll have as many shots as Travis Cloke and convert at a better rate.

Biggest crowd for the year
Last round against Geelong[/QUOTE]

Will the VFL side make the top 4?
No.

Game we drop when we shouldn't (I call this the loss we need to have)
Round 4 v Richmond
