Time to have a massive clean out at the seasons end.
I went yesterday and had to turn to drink as i watched most of our team play with no spirit or passion...
Sando its time to play our list cloggers and figure out whos any good at the level and whos not.
It pains me to say it but gotta trade danger... Sloanes our next skip so lets get a good player and a top pick for him cos i fear when he hits F.A he ll go anyway.
We need to bottom out to move forward. Trigg has to go... Chapman has to go... Smart has go... All new assistants and make an offer to blight he cant refuse to come in and take over from bails.
Tough times ahead... The boys club is finished...

I agree we might need to bottom at for 1 year to get an early first and early second round pick, but to trade Danger is nonsense. No team in the afl would do that.

Our list isn't that bad if we could add a couple of good young players through draft and a good FA. We need to stick up on 1 or 2 areas ie outside run and skill as well as another young KPF coming through who could preferably ruck too.

The core of our list is ok it's more the way we're playing. Port were a joke but the same list turned it around.

Its quite simply at the end of the year all these players must go
delist
Janesch
martin
porplyzia
petrenko
mckernan
L.thompson
Graham

Rutten and S.thompson retire
mackay free agency/delist

We must target players from Gc and Gws like O'Rourke who are top draft picks but are not playing afl.
Getting gibbs would be nice but we would need to win 9 to 13 gmaes with young players showing improvement to have any chance if he decides to leave the blues.

He's been nearly our best player so far.

Yeah im kinda in two minds. We are not near a premiership window, we are bottom 8 material at the moment. We do have some young talent in Crouch 1 and 2, CEY, Grigg, Lyons, Kerridge, Charlie, Smith, Laird, Brown etc, but they are all inside mids or small defenders. We need some serious forwards, another ruck and some pacey rebounders and outside run. It just so happens these are the three hardest positions to find talent in. I would be offering big money to GC and GWS talents. Tell Goringe to get over his Church he goes to Ablett with and come home. But basically we need to bottom out and get some draft picks.

Charlie is a small forward not a small defender or inside mid

Jaensch aside and it is only a 3 game spurt so far, it's hard to argue against any if those names. Couple haven't been given extended runs, but have been around long enough. Doubt we will turn over that many though.

Agree with all of this except Jaensch. Playing admirably so far, lets give him a chance. Will be a huge bonus if he becomes our Douglas of 2014.

In response to the OP, absolutely. Cameron, CEY, Knight, Lyons, Johnston, Spina should all play a lot of games. They'll be inconsistent but we'll be better for it next year.

And a top 5 pick would help out a lot. Keep Danger though. He'll stay if he can see us making a serious effort to improve our list

I agree, but we cannot trade Danger. We need to do everything in our power to keep him. Even if we trade and get say Pick #5, there's no guarantee that he will be half as good as Danger. Angwin says hi.

Bottoming out this year seems a good idea - we're already there. Picks #1, #19 and #36 would be very handy indeed. Plus some astute trading and a decent Free Agent, we shouldn't need to bottom out for too long.

Where is he at do you reckon? I've never seen him play. Whats his strength? Where does he play best?
Don't know a huge amount but I remember liking what I did hear..
Midfield or small/mid defender, apparently a hungry competitive beast type, doesn't mind smashing in and a tackle or two..
I'm sure it was him that the coaches said they had to pull him back a bit at training because he went so hard at it he was going to hurt someone..
His nickname is "The Bull"

Just about nailed it. Although, I think LJ could be a good AFL player, if not just for depth. Shaun McKernan should be given an extended run this year before determining his future - unlucky to sustain an injury last week.
Pods still has next year on his contract, so I cannot see the club getting rid of him already.
Brent Reilly still has next year left too, so ditto to pods.
Pets, Martin, Luke Thompson and Graham will all be on the chopping block.

I said this towards the end of Craig's reign and I'll say it again here; individual players look worse in poor performing teams. When teams are going badly faults get magnified, conversely when teams are flying average players are made to look better than they are because less pressure gets placed on them during games. Look at Petrenko in 2012, it didn't matter that as a forward he wasn't kicking goals, but now that we need him to he looks a lot worse.

We don't need a complete overhaul of our list, although a little extra talent on the list couldn't hurt (thanks Trigg), what we need most is better coaching, or simply better coaches.

Yes - he is the red hot tip to take over from Eddie.
In that case, it's time to start fiercely developing Jake Kelly. Get his old man in love with the club. Give him what ever admin position he wants; they're all for sale.
