With Gartlett having a shocker i think it is realy is time to put in yarran. Dont care how he plays in the vfl tomorrow. I thought he should of definetly gone in to the team this week. Yarran is all class, something we needed tonight.

What do u guys think?

Yep, late in the game Gartlett could've gone hard back with the flight into Dempsey(lighty built) but he didn't he squibbed out. Sorry I just pointed him out though.

I was excited as anyone when Jeff kicked that goal but thought his performance was below average, a smothered kick, a turnover. Bad outweighs the good right at this moment.

Yarran needs to come in, time for all those doubters to be put in their place.

Edited for accuracy

Lets see how Yarran goes tomorrow for the Ants before we get carried away. I know Garlett had a stinker but so did most of our players tonight.

Garlett should be dropped because he looked well out of his depth tonight.

I wouldn't be bringing Yarran in against Sydney. Bring in an extra midfielder instead.
If tonight was any indication - I'd be bringing in Setanta to help cover Darren Jolly who kicked goals for the Swans tonight.

I agree... problem for Yarran not being in at present is some other issues off-field... Hopefully they will give him a shot this week, but don't be surprised if he still isn't playing the reason is not his on-field performances

if Yarran gets anything over 15+ touches and or 2+ goals. there is no doubt he will be in next week, straight swap Yarran In Garlett Out. Plain and simple Garlett needs to go and eat a good 50 big macs, when he gets some size about him, i dont see why he couldnt be in our best 22. But yes it is yarran's time to shine and show us what he's really got. Show us a little bit of this x factor we hear about and bring home the W against Sydney.

I think that Gartlett was brought into the team pre-maturely. I think that one or two games in the Bullants after playing in the Blues will get his confidence up because he knows that he can play at AFL level and should dominate.

For next weekend, I think we should drop Gartlett for the week and bring in Dennis Armfield, pending his performance tomorrow. The run will be needed against Sydney who are known for playing tight defence.

I don't think it was premature at all.

Players were given a chance in the regular season based on their form.

Garlett was excellent for us in the preseason and was rewarded with a round 1 debut. Nothing wrong with that.

He didn't light up the game in round 1 but was not poor by any stretch of the imagination and did not deserve to be dropped for round 2 and was kept in the side. Nothing wrong with that.

Round 2 he wasn't great but survived the chop for round 3 because the coaches had a look and thought that 3 changes to a winning side would be over the top. Making too many changes to a winning side can seriously mess with the team balance and he wasn't poor enough in round 2 to be a definite exclusion so stayed in the side. Nothing wrong with that.

Round 3 he was poor and should go back to the Bullants to build on that form he showed early in the season. And I've got little doubt that that is exactly what will happen.

Excellent.

Now, if only people could believe this for Jordan Russell... -Dreams-

Jordan Russel was in our best 10 tonight i no everyone thinks he got mopped up by lovett but i beg to differ look at lovett's recent stats against us. He's a very quite achiever when he does well and when he does ANYTHING wrong the blues supporters are on it like white on rice. He's impressed me this season last week was a stand out for me holding Travis Johnstone to 16 touches was very impressive.

i'm going to pretend I just didn't read the last comment on Russell ... Lovett tore us a new one tonight and enough has been said on the Carlton board tonight on JR

as for Yarran ... I've been following him since he became a contender for the navy blues late last year

the problem here is he doesn't have the fitness base and work ethic just at the moment to present a 2nd and 3rd effort ... in the NAB cup and challenge games he ran within himself quite a bit ... initially i thought it was because of laziness ... but then I realised its because he is trying to conserve energy because of his lack of fitness

dont forget ... at swan districts, as a small forward, he provided an effort to win the ball or push forwards when we had the ball ... in that comp forwards aren't expected to put the huge efforts defending ... in the AFL, forwards are expected to maintain pressure on the defensive end and I think this extra running is catching him out ... he can't just sit back and hurt the opposition going forwards, he needs to tackle and chase the other way

he has all the tools ... I haven't seen a junior highlight package like his playing seniors for swan districts ... he just needs to get his running and pressure up to an AFL standard ... hence why Garlett got the nod

i'd love him in early ... but let's not be reactionary to one narrow loss against the enemy ... it was a derby game and we were never going to get it our own way ... let's think long term ... only give Yarran a game when he clearly deserves it by showing he has the work ethic and ready to play at AFL standard ... bringing him in early might spoil him and teach him bad habits

remember ... we put ourselves on the map this year ... then we start to have a serious tilt at the flag the following years ... long term people

Definitelly need to bring him in for Garlett. Too many times tonight Garletts tackles were broken because he's too small.

Russell never seems to do anything wrong, even when he gets cleaned up and even when it's obvious to the world that he makes basic skill errors. Yarran has to come in, hopefully he has another good game in the reserves.

You must be joking. :o

Find me another Carlton supporter that thinks he had the better of Lovett last night.

But it's funny how we seem to have a few of them. Who can't seem to hit a target 20 meters away by foot either.
