last year suntan Terry asked Craig Mottram to join the Tiges for their time trial.

He gave them all a 2 min start, ran past the leader ( Foley I think ) like he was standing still, and won by a fair margin.

Not bad in a trial lasting approx 13 mins.

that shows how fit richmond are,
lmao

It shows how far all AFL footballers have to go in really pushing their bodies past what they think are their limits.

That was the whole reason he was invited

Also need to take into account Mottram has a runners body while footballers are required to bulk up to take the hits. I'm sure there are a few footballers who would make excellent long distance runners if they did the right training.

Motram does the tan in just over 10mins, any footballer who does it in under 14 is doing very well, so getting reeled in isn't anything to be ashamed about.

Exactly, even Mottram's second lap of the tan, is faster than the first lap of anyone in the AFL.

I'm sure Mottram would cry like a female refugee if slammed into the ground in a Waite tackle though, too, so it's horses for course.

As all-round athletes who have to be quick sprinters, have endurance to run for 2 hours and take/dish out physical punishment while kicking, jumping and changing direction constantly, AFL players are pretty damn fit.

Interesting to see the difference that focussed training makes though, isn't it?

Setanata and Aisake finnished side by side last year, midfield IIRC.

Waite did quite well also.

Ackland was a dud in the time trial ( came near last in 06 )......shyte I hate him.

Betts struggles

Watching Setanta this year I had question marks over his endurance, to play CHB he's going to need to be very good in this area.

There are few visions that bring me more joy than Waite coming charing in, diving at an opposition player, wrapping them up and then BODY SLAM!!! :D
