I find it hard to take Vader's posts seriously. Whenever I read one I always imagine this music backing it

Tippet is definitely more important, at least for the sake of structure and having a big target up forward. If he can get his kicking right, he'll have a monstrous year in 2011.

Not sure I agree with the "Talented but lazy" thing with Walker. Sure, he might look like he's moving slow, and at times during games he might appear lazy, but the kid is only 20, and had pretty good season in almost every respect in 2010, considering the difficulty of his position, and that he's so young.

van Berlo he ain't, but I would think that Lazy is a bit harsh.

I agree with the majority of the posts that Tippett in structurally more important due to his height and competitive nature. However due to his kicking, I believe Walker has the potential to be a more consistent match winner. IMHO posters are correct when they say he is lazy. This is why NC has dropped him repeatedly the the SANFL to improve his effort over 100% over game time, much to the outcry of many on this BF board.

If Tex can improve his consistency he will become so much better than Tippett and very quickly. Unfortunatelt Big Kurt has a major problem with his kicking. If he can improve this he will be much better than Walker. Both have big flaws ATM. I sincerely hope both work hard on these issues, stay at the AFC and win us many premierships. Fingers crossed.

As far as I can see Walker can't mark to save himself. He can't kick from straight in front either. I know Tippet is as guilty as anyone for doing that but atleast he can grab the thing. The only way Walker will do well is if they shove him in the pocket and just handball it to him and he snaps for goal. USELESS!!!!!!!!

Both of these guys have the talent and potential to be anything. They 'could' be superstars.

That's a huge 'could'. Neither will be anything more than awesome talents who "could have been" unless they fix major flaws. So you are on the money Tobster. The thing is with the board, is that they can see the talent.

But that talent will never realise its potential unless handled the right way. Did Chris Ladhams or Lawrence Angwin have talent? Absolutely.

If both these guys reach their potential we are an AFL powerhouse. I think we all are wishing for that to happen.

4.7 marks per game isn't terrible... Yes, we know they're usually on the lead, rather than contested like Tippett, but then Tippett is a freak in this department.

I find your comments to be ridiculous.

Far from useless as has been stated has the "potential" to be a star of the game and is only just starting his career in AFL. How someone can state a guy playing AFL and playing well is useless is beyond me, perhaps you're one of those fans who make me cringe at games who constantly bag our own players?!

Walker has displayed his potential and as a young player tends to do, has fluctuated between fantastic and poor but as his five goals against Hawthorn in 2009 showed he has the talent to be a stand out of the game!

ha ha ha awesome. Now run back to bay 13 and log in as a different alias.

I think it is the ease that Walker shows when he marks that excites us. It looks so simple. Some great players also made it look easy. Eg the last interstate game for Malcolm Blight. Lead - Mark - Goal. As simple as that. I forget how many goals he got that day.
If Walker had better delivery from our other players he would have had many more marks.

not sure about that.
The majority of contracts are sorted in the year of expiration, usually ranging from late pre-season to before trade week. With exeptions like Tippett coming due to circumstances. Some clubs will also look to extend their real stars, late the season before.

If you can point out where the majority have been extended over a year in advance I'll happily retract my comment.

*Probably was a bit 'much' to say 'very' rare. More rare, especially at Adelaide.

They are a team, think of Lynch and JBrown. With Tip the goal square tyro playing the long marking option and Walker being the roaming CHF. When both in the forward 50 they will split the defence and counter the Troy Chaplins of the world who guard space for a lving. That is the way it will play out in the next few years IMO.

Sounds good.

You'd think their contrasting styles would complement each other well.

If our midfielders were able to lift their eyes occassionally and look for a lead this will only help Tippett generate more one-on-one contests close to goal. We were a bit one dimensional with our attacks last season.

Walker really changed the way he got his goals last year. In 09 he tended to get his goals from getting into the right spots and taking uncontested marks. You can tell he really put in a big pre season after that and bulked up for 2010 when he started to take some really strong contested grabs. Plus he always has that x factor that means any time he gets the ball inside 50 a goal could come from it.

Saying that though I reckon Kurt is the best contested mark we have ever had at the Crows.

Is Kurt one of the best contested marks in the AFL? I reckon he might be.

I hope he has been working on his kicking in the off season.

Carl- This season we had no quality in our midfield. Thommo, Vince, VB, Porps, Knights etc were in poor form or not there. Dougie being our best mid/player is the reason forward delivery was poor. DOugie is good but most of those guys are classier. Those guys back to 2009 form will make a difference.

In terms of averages for 2010 he is fifth behind

1. J. Riewoldt
2. Cloke
3. N. Riewoldt
4. Jpod

so he's in pretty good company. The difference between them all isn't huge. Jack averaged 2 per game, Kurt 1.7.

This is one of my biggest bugbears. So often in our quest to move the ball quickly (a goal I fully agree with) we simply place it on Tippett's head and as the ball flies through the air we see Walker with a metre on his opponent stop his lead midway and watch the ball sail over his head. One thing I hope we're working on in training is making the right option when going forward. Walker could have kicked 50 goals this year if we would honour his leads.

Imagine playing "Marks up" when this family get together. tough.

Agreed Thommo was only ordinary in the EARLY part of the season when carrying a "niggle" but after that he was right back to his best, IMO he was absolutely outstanding in the latter part of the season.

And how did we finish the season............. He had a lot to do with that.

Now get Vince, Porps, Knights and even VB back to 2009 form and we will be crusing. Especially with our draw this year.

Tip to kick 80 is not far fetched. He could have easily kicked 60 with better kicking this year.
