I seem to recall that a newly drafted player can't be traded after just 1 year? Is this correct? IIRC Mitchel was only drafted last year.

Freddy, i think that you have been drinking too much of that stuff in your glass in your avatar.

I cannot see where a Grundy (27yo next season) fits in to our 22 unless long term injury.
Rutten & Talia are our 2 KPD and the 3rd tall comfortably filled by Otten/Shaw/Thompson.
Similarly, in our forwards, Walker plus Smack/Jenkins/Johnston can step up and in any case, i'ld back Smack ahead of Giles any day, whether in ruck or forward.

Furthermore, our team has a crying need for more speed, yet bringing in Grundy & Giles would exacerbate that problem.
Both our defence and our forward divisions had problems in 2012 with opposition pace running out of and into defence/forward and if Grundy/Giles also come in then all i can say is, that pace problem will become a mountain - and on top of that we would probably also lose Otten/Smack.
Also, what is the point of bringing in Grundy/Giles as back-up in case we have injuries to Rutten/Talia/Jacobs.
This is our chance to address some real needs with good talent.

I would be going for Rohan/Parker/Polec/others similar.... - offer those players over the $odds to persuade them here, and use other factors such as Dangerfield/Rohan or Polec/home to help.

IMO Grundy + 22 for Tippett is a big loss to us. (i'm not saying that Grundy is no good but that we have his position covered, he would be worth more to a club such as Carlton/Hawthorn etc who want/need a KPD.) (and ditto Giles as a ruck/forward).

If we get Giles though. Who by the way i think does have some real talent.

What do we do with Jenkins McKernan and Johnston though? SANFL again.

Its the same as if we get Grundy. It just means that Otten and Shaw will be playing SANFL.

I would rather get games into these young blokes. And then trade for some others that are more of a need. Ie: Outside runners, Small Forwards.

Not true Caddy could have been to traded to Essendon last year, and Tyson to Richmond this trade period. It's just the initial contracts in the ND are two years (and three if player agrees to it).
