the verdict will come out and we will be told how well the club did in mitigating the penalty and how Trigg did such a good job avoiding long term draft exclusion.

and we will be expected to forget that those people doing the defending were also the ones who put us in the shit in the first place.

you watch

the people doing the defending (also the ones who put us in the shit in the first place) will cop what is coming to them without complaint.

and all the posters on BF who were saying that Trigg would slip away from his responsibilities will conveniently forget the posts they made that damned him as selfish and self-serving.

anyone else think tippett might have made a plea bargain to make sure he misses the sydney game in adelaide?

He'll probably insist on a side agreement with whatever team he ends up with, stipulating that under no circumstances is he to ever play against the Crows.

Are you really that idiotic that you can't accept that the media have been inconsistent on this issue. The Age is not the only media outlet in the country. Cornes, Rowe, Rucci, Shutts etc are all media too. All been consistent have they?
Idiotic? Just because youve been on the wrong side of the argument no reason to be abusive.

so wait, are you suggesting we should be congratulating them for copping penalties for something they did?

They should cop the penalties without complaint, that is the point.

is your position that the media as a collective have been consistent on this issue?
No its not. Theres been one media outlet that has been consistent and on the money. The same outlet you and your possie have derided and been in denial about.

Free agency also makes it a different ball game. Even if we're slugged for two drafts, we can still go out with our Tippett cash and sign free agents for 2013, having had 11 months to target them. I would have expected us to be trading out 2013 picks to fill list deficiencies anyway, much like Collingwood did in 2009 with Jolly, or Hawthorn this year with Lake.
Depends on how we are to be penalised / fined....the AFL may simply reduce our salary cap by $300K....which may hinder us signing free agents.....

FWIW...I think a $300K fine, and loss of two draft picks next year, along with what's already transpired is probably the best we can hope for. The AFL want to appear to be cracking down hard on any draft tampering / potential salary cap breaches, but can't be seen to be too harsh, given previous fines and penalties.

Surely Kurt will not be able to put a $3.5M price on his head if he is going to miss half a season. That being the case, assume next years price is halved from $700-$350K. It now becomes $3.2M over 4 years. Does that then equate to $800k a season if someone was to pick him up? Given GWS most probably have cap space for next year, they may be prepared to pay the $800k for half a season and could budget $800k a year you would have thought.

So far theyve made a lot of predictions and claims that cant be tested. CW hasnt been consistent in her own reporting, neither has EQ, I understand that information 'evolves' over time, but you claiming the AGE have maintained one version of events, outcomes and penalites over time is deluded.

My final thoughts before the hearing

1. On Triggy
- Yes everyone is entitle to make a mistake or two however the actions of our CEO in the Tippett matter was negligent conduct, not a mistake
- the commitment from the club for Directors to calk members seems to be an effort to canvas the feedback of members prior to making a final call on Triggy's future

2. On the penalty, I'm expecting
- a significant fine
- loss of 2013 picks only

If the penalty as I described materializes the loss of draft picks will sting but won't cripple us given that we should finish close to top 4 and if we are well prepared for free agency

FWIW this is a group i have been following throughout free agency and theyre updates can be hit and miss but are usually on the money.

AFL Free Agency, Trade, Draft & Season News

BREAKING NEWS

Kurt Tippett has reportedly accepted a half year ban and Adelaide will accept a $300,000 fine.

Was "broken" this morning by the AFL site. It's just speculation still though.

I think he probably did.
He may of gotten us into this mess but if he gets us out that's super!

if you a referring to the age, then they haven't constantly been on the money, they have constantly been first and the details vary, remember when danger and VB were in a probe!

Nope - not at all.

What I am saying is that everyone who has made in-correct (and vehement) judgements on individuals on BF, saying that Trigg will slip away and get hit with a lettuce leaf and get his mates to cover for him etc etc ... will conveniently forget what they said when Trigg does the opposite.

Thats all.

Hope you get a fair result today, and Tippett feels like he's just had a visit from Zed after dropping into his pawn shop.

Despite some of the main board crap, you're guilty of stupidity IMO, and not trying to manipulate the system to gain an extraordinary advantage, so the punishment should reflect this.

Good luck anyway :thumbsu:

I'm not sure Trigg has an alternative - I guess we will find out when Chapman explains things.

It strikes me as ironic that organizations who rely on the public for its funding, that get found out to have no integrity(most don't have any) throw even more integrity out the window to try and have a perception of integrity remain.

now you've quite clearly nailed the PR at work in damage control, did you pick the apparant PR bullshit around Mcarthys incident to maintain the integrity of some?
