From Adelaide Now

"Tippett yesterday thanked the Crows for their support of him, but said he wanted to make a fresh start in Sydney. He made special reference to the Swans’ football culture"

Mate, I don't even support your club and I want to smash him in the face for a comment like that, down right disrespectful. assclown
In fairness to Tippett, I don't think he was having a crack at the Crows' footy culture, he was just talking about Swans' much-vaunted culture which we hear about all the ****ing time.

Sydney doesn't strike me as the type of club that will try and rip you off. I think they have been pretty fair in what players/picks they have given up over the last few years. From what our list manager has said, once Tippett nominated another club we aren't going to waste time waiting to see what happens, we will be looking at other players to use the salary cap space on.

Intentionally no but if they don't have anything that interest us or satisfies our needs - it may get to that as they may not be willing to trade an important commodity away. and with a player like Tippett, it will come to that. They will have to trade something of importance away to gain his services.

They also have this culture going on where they don't trade player who want to stay, so unless it's the uncontracted Kennedy who gets an offer too good to turn down (doubtful as I can not see why he will leave Sydney) they will have to trade away someone they want or low ball us.

Just on 5AA .....it becomes apparent no deal with Sydney can be done ......GC does trade deal with Adelaide...what does Kurt do, go into PSD?

Wouldn't think he would take that risk ....hello FREO/Carlton

I still would not be counting out Brisbane or Gold Coast just yet?

At this point, I feel Kurt Tippett simply wants to leave Adelaide and play in a different culture. At this stage, it reminds me off the Mitch Clarke situation last year who asked for a trade to Fremantle but ended up in Melbourne. Fremantle (like Sydney) tried to low ball and only offer a trade that was good on their end. During trade week, Melbourne stepped in and offered him a better deal to Clarke and then the Lions and got the trade done.

I'm still not counting the Lions or Suns from offering better deal to Kurt Tippett with more money to get a deal done once trades between the 2 parties start breaking down. They are not out of this game yet.
Agreed. They're still lurking in the background so a bit of water under the Harbour Bridge yet.

Kurt has put pressure on Lions/Suns to up their offer to him, and the Lions/Suns being still in the game will put pressure on Sydney to up their offer to us.

Time for some tough negotiations. Lets see who blinks first.

Hope Sando stays strong and plays hardball with the Swans. Cant let them pinch another gun for nothing. I'd be settling for nothing less than a straight swap for Sam Reid or L.Jetta.

and as for Tippett what a dog. He has royally screwed you guys after you bent over backwards for him for years.

I feel your pain.

Yes we bent over for years and then he gave it to us again today.

Looking through their list though a Hannebery, Jack, Jetta, Reid, Rohan and Kennedy are one's you would say, the rest is BS. What picks have they got....nada.
And people wonder why we're under the salary cap - well we only have 6 good players!

On a positive note I would like to thank all of you for the discussions, insights and laughs on this thread over the last week. You have acted with great dignity and good humour. :thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

If you ever make you way to Metricon, drop us a line and Sunny / SuperNova Clown and I will catch you for a beer and a Tippett hate session:D

Stick it to Sydney and make them pay through the nose, Grundy, Jetta and the premiership cup I say

With Sydney have to remember their business plan is to stay in finals and top up from other clubs

Not going to happen if they are not fair in trading ......clubs will boycott Sydney (as happens with a couple other clubs) .....Sydney don't want that

Our only hope is a big name from Sydney wants to go back home to VIC such as Kennedy. As the only fair compensation to fill a need at our club would be Jetta. And Sydney won't be letting him go. I would take Kennedy but inside Mids is not a need for us (although he would be awesome) and surely the only we he would be let go is if it was to go home.

Grundy is not fair compensation. He may be a premiership player (see Leon Davis, Aaron Keating) but he is not in the top 10 KPD in the league IMO. Sydney are getting a top 10 KPF who may be inconsistent but his best far outweighs Grundy's. And pick 22 would have been a second rounder a few years ago.

Sydney need to upgrade their pick to 10-15 range to even start to get close. They have no power due to being dead last in the PSD and draft. Some team will find the extra cash to pick Kurt up prior to Sydney. Quite simply if we are to be made willing to improve one of our direct competitors for season 2013 we need to be convinced with Sydney's offer. Pick 22 is not going to cut it.

I have a conspiracy theory for you.

Josh Kennedy hasn't re-signed, has a family completely and utterly entrenched in Hawthorn's history and culture and was seen sharing a moment Post GF with his grandfather. I wonder if he's of the opinion that now he's won a flag it's a good time to head home to the club where his family name belongs (hence the roughead rumour).

That'd mean Kennedy back to the hawks, Roughead to Crows and Lebron to Sydney. Swans fans will cry foul but judging by some of their proposals on here im thinking the only way they wouldn't cry foul is if the deal was Tippett and our first for Dennis-Lane.

He didn't want to play for us so let him slide to Melbourne and see how he likes that, geez that would be a thing of beauty, the media would cut him to pieces with every poor performance, beautiful
If Melbourne did not grab him, Carlton would.

I have no issue in letting him walk if Sydney dont come up with decent compensation.

They will have to break up that Premiership team a bit to get him, so be it.

They also have this culture going on where they don't trade player who want to stay, so unless it's the uncontracted Kennedy who gets an offer too good to turn down (doubtful as I can not see why he will leave Sydney) they will have to trade away someone they want or low ball us.

They shopped Jude Bolton around a couple of years ago.

The issue is Brisbane will now move to plan B and spend their money.

In fairness to Tippett, I don't think he was having a crack at the Crows' footy culture, he was just talking about Swans' much-vaunted culture which we hear about all the ******* time.

I think he probably also means the footy culture of not being in a fishbowl 24/7.

Can we offer Josh Kennedy 700k a yr and get him?
Jetta wont leave sydney

Do we need another clearance winning player though? I would have thought a running Mid or KPD would be more in our sights. I don't think we'll get Jetta, but he's definitely worth a shot.

Someone else proposed the below trade:
Tippet > Sydney
Hannebury > Melbourne
Pick 4 > Adelaide

Seems alright to me, if Hannebury agrees to it. GC look unlikely to give up pick 2, and pick 4 will be useful in a strong draft.

AFGM last post was 1 minute before the official decision was made. Hmmmmmm.

He also has gotten rid of his avatar.
Poidacat 2.0?

Get over it AFGM, come back son.....
Yep, no need to be AWOL or change the avatar. It's not that serious. People are more concerned with the AFC's options.

IMO only one deal ......Rohan and pick 22

That might be what we get WW, but no way is that appropriate recompense.

Rohan had a very bad break in his ankle - Nathan Brown style - and there is no guarantee that he will ever be at his best again. Nathan Brown definitely wasn't, and went from a rooster to a feather duster.

As for the other part, pick 22, it may be called a first rounder, but in any sensible world that is a an early 2nd rounder. In the days of 16 teams that would be pick 6 in the 2nd round and even if you accept that there are now 18 teams, it still technically is 4 in the 2nd round.

We are going to be shafted big time thanks to the traiterous Kurt and his smart-arsed manager.
