Not true either....As Maaca and I have said it was between McGregor and Pav. Confirmed by Pav himself as he was told this by Reid

this is straight from Fantasia, he told me this and i have witnesses (who post on here), but you can believe a media beat up if you like!

The FA rules is yet another example of what happens when Anderson is allowed to come up with ideas. Everything he has touched has been turned into a horrible mess that has needed even more rules and changes to try and fix. Great way to run the no 1 sport in Australia AFL..

Yep. Classic Anderson. Announce something, don't make a decision on the details, then frantically monitor the media to see what everyone thinks ... then come up with the details.

Jenkins says most Adelaide players are not happy.

http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/149557/default.aspx

Well said from a young player, and some really nice quotes, including this one;

Tippett had expressed a desire to return to his native Queensland, before shocking the Crows in choosing the Swans as his preferred new club.

"Speculation continued to suggest he would seek a move home at some stage," Jenkins said.

"Most could understand that. But last I checked, Sydney is not in Queensland.

"I couldn't imagine spending several years at the one club, only to leave and burn almost all the bridges that had been built over the years.

"I am not saying Kurt no longer has friends or positive relationships at the Crows.

"But most from West Lakes would have some right to be disappointed in his actions.

"Kurt's situation is not the first and won't be the last trade/free agency scenario where the club that loses the player feels dudded."

Tom Mitchell doesn't want to come to Adelaide? is that correct?

If he is going to be involved with the trade, I feel we need to get Carlton involved (dad Barry played 30 odd games for the blue baggers) as I feel he maybe far more receptive to moving to a club his dad finished his career at rather than move to a city he doesn't want to.

Adelaide gain pick 11, 22 & 42* (from Swans)
Swans get Tippett and 59
Carlton get Tom Mitchell

Would Geelong do pick 42 for GHS ?

Ideally, I'd like to get a pic as high as possible. for example the Western Bulldogs pick 5 or 6 or even Richmond pick 9 but can not see that happening.

History, talent and need sees Tom Mitchel go to Carlton for pick 11.

We have 800k to spend. Hasnt Sando stated we are after a player in the trade period??

I'd be happy with 11 and 22. We wouldn't get an upgrade to 42 as well.

And no, I don't think Geelong would part with GHS for 42.

.
Mmmmm ....if that happened as we have only 3 picks "currently" .....our picks would be 11, 19, 22 , none of the others to be used

Any players come in like GHS or Pears means we have to chop another player ....correct?
Or does reading between the lines ....mean we'll be trading player for player?

Asking for everything, is different to accepting it. But yeah, upgrading 59 to 42 would be a stretching it.

I don't know but if he has, who?

Who would fit our needs?
Any club having TPP issues that we could take over a contract??? :)

Someone may get squeezed out that appeals to the club

Thanks to Tippett giving us really poor options as far as trading goes, I think most would begrudgingly agree that this would be a good result considering the circumstances.

Not knowing anything about Mitchell as a player, if we had the choice, would we prefer Mitchell or pick 11?

Hate him as much as you like but if he went to either of the 2 Queensland sides, this shit storm over that second round pick would be more infuriating that anything the Swans fans hacve dished up.

IMO - him going to the Swans will allow us to get the best deal we can. Him going to the GC would have seen us get SFA in return and him going to Brisbane would have seen us gain a second round pick.

This compensation for FA is stupid at best. Ridiculously amateurish at worst. As it stands at the moment, the formula is something the AFL wing, which is why it's going to take them so long to give the specific picks out. It also means that everyone in the league is virtually penalised, as their picks drop in value each time a FA deal is done. It seems to me, that the team gaining the FA player - pays absolutely NOTHING to the other team for them. Is this not a huge error in the whole system? The compensation MUST be a simple formula based on salary. And the team that is gaining the FA player should have to pay the compensation IMO, not every other bugger!

Mitchell to GWS
Tippett to Sydney
Toumpas (pick 3) to Adelaide

It simply comes down to who GWS prefer? Toumpas or Mitchell?
And are Sydney willing to let him go?

I'm just not sure we'd be happy with pick 3 for Tippett. Also would depend on whether GWS rates Mitchell as better than what they could get for pick 3 in the draft.

or, even simpler there's no compensation at all. (except for the spare cash you save and use to lure a player of your own)

Or if they insist on compensation, release the compensation as soon as the move is made

Look, I agree with you on the compensation pick but also can see the benefit of the way the AFL have introduced it. I don't feel as if they could have simply introduce free agency without adding some compensations pick straight off the bat. That would have pissed more people, supporters and clubs off.

Could you imagine how pissed off St Kilda would have been if they lost Goddard for nothing?this way, they are still getting some compensation and the club he is going to, isn't losing anything.

The processes are slowly getting built up and put in place. The AFL should introduce a 5 year moratorium on compensation picks (the entire life of the longest current AFL contract) and then phase them out so everyone understand what free agency is all about. The way the Western Bulldogs and Hawks did it by trading Brian Lake one year before his contract expired was the right way to do it but clubs need that bridging process.
