IMO the hold up is to do with waiting for the compo picks to be dealt out. A team (IMO St Kilda) has said they will be willing to trade their compo pick for BJ to Sydney for one of their young kids. Sydney will then (in good faith) send that along with 23 to Adelaide. It's possible that we have said we'll have a look at White, as Sydney want to delist him anyway, just as steak knives. Gotta say, at this stage I would be happy with that.

I'm going to guess it will be signed off on Monday, and released to the public Monday arvo.

Crowbots are dead I agree with your thoughts.

What are yours that you should be able to judge his in the first place?

I want to know what his qualifications and experience are that led him to be appointed to this most important position.

I think that's a valid question. After coaching, recruiting and trading (two different skills) are the most important determinants of a team's success.

what i'm asking is, does kurt get to nominate the exact contract amounts that he requires over the duration of his nominated term. ie, does it come down to 4 years with yr1 $x, yr2 $y, yr3 $z, yr4 $zz. or does the club that intends to draft the player simply have to match the contract duration and the total amount to be paid during that period. what i was getting at, is if we said to kurt that we will pick him up again, but that he'd be getting sweet fa until his last year, he may be more likely to re-consider his stance on where he is prepared to be traded. i'm not seriously suggesting that we look to lock in half of our cap for 2016. the last thing we want is for him to be back at the club, but it seems to be the only tool we've got to get a decent deal for the whack-job.

Yes, he nominates specific amounts in specific years. If he nominates a back-ended salary, that's what clubs have to match.

This would require
  • a player willing to move clubs,
  • from the premiers to a team about to become cellar dwellers,
  • the Swans to go back on the we won't trade a premiership player statement
  • the Saints wont give up No 12 or 13 unless they get better than what they could do in the draft,
sorry Danoz not saying it wont happen but seems unlikely.

I'm not happy with the prospect of receiving 22 + White more than anyone else is, but I don't understand why people think 22 + nothing is better than 22 + White.

We're going to be in the run for a premiership next year. White may not be a great player but at the very least he's an experienced depth player who has a small chance of contributing something towards our 2013 flag chase.

Pick 40 or 50 or whatever we'd get to spend instead would almost certainly contribute nothing.

Haha!

Sorry but that's hilarious.

Hello, Club? I'm an outraged fan and just think you should know that we don't need Tippett and shouldn't trade away any good young players. Also can you keep me updated with our latest trade offer?

Sure thing Mr Nutball.
Thought this deserved another run.

Noble was an assistant at the Western Bulldogs, for five years, before occupying the senior coaching position at Glenelg in 2003 and 2004. Probably better qualified in the operation of a footy club/management than most in here I'd say.

Because taking White is actually helping Sydney, by freeing up their (over-generous) salary cap space even further

I'd be happier with the compo pick + 23, without White. Why do Sydney the favour of taking him off their list - they're not exactly doing us any favours.

IIRC he was our midfield coach, and then was shifted (side-ways) into 'list management'.

List management is one thing, negotiating trades (like selecting draft picks) is a specialist skill.

So are you saying coaching skills qualify a person as a negotiator?

As I said, I am willing to suspend judgement, but for our club to be strong we need to have the right people in the right positions, appointed on merit. And I still don't know what his qualifications and experience are in negotiating skills.

Compare that to Vozzo at West Coast - lawyer and former player manager.

We don't know this. I dare say Syd will be paying a heap of his contract or if he wanted out enough he may have taken a substantial pay cut.

Because White is dead wood on the list, nothing more, nothing less. If Sydney aren't paying his wages, then he's $300k of dead wood on our list.

Frankly, I'd rather see the club draft a 3rd kid and give him a year of development than waste that list position on a black hole, with the near certainty that the aforementioned black hole won't be on the list in 2014.

No, he's not a depth player. He's not good enough to qualify as a depth player, not unless we're taking up potato farming.
Pick 40 or 50 or whatever we'd get to spend instead would almost certainly contribute nothing.
Wouldn't be able to contribute anything in 2013, no, but may well do so further down the line. Frankly, any contribution at all is still greater than what White will be contributing.

What is every clubs list manager's history then? Selective filtering is selective.

Wouldn't have the slightest idea, only know of Vozzo's due to connections.

He actually had to apply for that job...there's another key difference with Noble..

you should prob stop deluding yourself
The facts are, the deal has not been finalised. If it was going to be just White and 23, it would've been done last week. FA finishes tomorrow. Picks will be dealt out. St Kilda wants kids in early 20's. Rumours last week that Sydney was quietly shopping around a few of their young guys.

I'm just putting 1 and 1 and 1 together and suggesting my opinion. If you don't like it, you can head back to your own board.
