Can I ask- is Adelaide playing hardball for the best deal (fair enough) or to screw Tippett for leaving and not picking Brisbane or GCS (fair enough too)?

I don't have a problem with either reason, but you just need to not miss out on a really good deal with Sydney, if it comes, just to screw over Tippett from "getting what he wants".

Like your thinking except for this bit. Nominated rookie can be upgraded in the absence of two vets on the list. We will have Truck and Radar, with Stiffy as well next year. This year we only had Dogga, hence Nutta could be upgraded.
Good pick-up :thumbsu:
I thought about that - but as I read the AFL rules, "a club MAY nominate any number of eligible players as veterans". My emphasis. I think that means that while we have 3 eligible players, we don't have to nominate them as veterans.

I'd love to see Triggy telling the Swans that with Jesse White still on their books for 2013, Kurt will have to nominate a smaller salary heading into the PSD, opening the door for Freo, Brisbane, GWS, GC, to pick up him up.

Sydney posters: "oh well we don't need him anyway, we just won a pwemiership and Goodsey, ROK, Bolton, LRT, Rhyce Shaw, Ted Richards and Martin mattner are all going to play for another 10 years and win us more pwemierships"

But the fact of the matter is, if Sydney fail to snare Tippett throughout this trade or draft period, they will go down in history as having orchestrated the most pathetic trade blunder in years. Tippett nominated them as the only club he wanted to play for, refused all other offers; how can they f*** this up!!!

But Sydney could just delist Jesse White to fit in Tippett!

All on here are by this stage 100% with both of the above reasons.

That's the thing we're still waiting for this good deal from Sydney who are showing the footy world what responsible traders they are...I'm hoping Adelaide walk away from the table and send him to the PSD with a big **** you enjoy the next month to Tippett and Sydney. So over this.

If we get offered a good deal by Sydney, then I'm sure we'll take it. If not, then I'll be more than happy to screw Tippett over. Obviously getting something of value for one of our most valuable assets would be ideal, but we happen to be in a position where we can cover Tippett's loss without too much hassle. It would be a case of short term pain, for long term gain. On the other hand, if we roll over and get ****ed long and hard by Sydney on this, it will have long term implicaitions for us, and I would expect every club in the league will be lining up to poach our players in the future through similar methods*.

*Of course we just have to hope that there isn't anybody else on our list who is as big of a campaigner as Tippett is.

Barrett says clubs have room, Rucci says he'll walk to Sydney. Neither of them have great records, who do we believe?

Barrett does on the odd occasion get stuff right, where as Rucci never does. Speculation on my behalf of course, but I do not see clubs just letting Tippett walk through to Sydney in either draft, especially the PSD. How often does a team get the opportunity to add a player like Tippett to their list with no cost to their list or draft picks?

The answer is never.

Both are the absolute gutter press specialists. I'd rather base my opinions and reactions on the predictions of that octopus who was made famous during the World Cup

The main reason Sydney (allegedly) want to get rid of White, is because he's on a $300k contract for 2013.

The problem with this theory, and all the others banging on about Jesse White's salary being a factor in the KT deal, is that it was Jesse White who requested to be traded not the other way round. Indeed Jesse's decision to occured *prior to * KT deciding he wanted to come to the Swans. http://www.smh.com.au/afl/afl-news/...look-for-greener-pastures-20121004-27271.html

Thus Jesse is requesting to terminate his contract, not for it to be transfered to the new club. It is therefore up to him to agree with the Crows what his new salary would be.

Therefore the Swans offer to the Crows became 2nd round pick plus JW (to find him a home), rather than just a 2nd round pick.

The Swans salary cap issues vis KT was solved by delisting Mark Seabey, who is no longer needed.

Why? They have to pay the money, out of the football budget, but why does it come out of the salary cap?

Because for the purposes of the salary cap, his contract is still on their books for 2013, even if they do pay it out. The only way they don't have it count against their cap next year, is if they get somebody else to take on his contract, hence why they're trying to offload the dud to us.

So where a contracted player gets to the end of the year and retires because of injury/heart isn't in it, their salary for however many years still contracted is counted towards the TPP? Perverse outcome.

BECAUSE HE IS CONTRACTED.

if you can call it hardball, there is no way the alleged deal sydney are offering is a reasonable deal and we are saying actually that is not ok (or at least i hope thats what were doing)

There is a reason that clubs generally only offer old players 1 year extensions.

The main reason Sydney (allegedly) want to get rid of White, is because he's on a $300k contract for 2013. Getting rid of this contract would make paying Tippett's salary much, much easier for them. Conversely, forcing them to wear his salary (even if he's not on their list) makes it harder for them to afford Tippett.

It's not about our salary cap (we have plenty of space), it's about Sydney's.

Then again, it makes no sense at all for us to be paying a SANFL footaller $300k. If they're desperate for him to be playing in the SANFL, why should we be paying him more than minimum wages? Sydney can wear the rest of it.

Some players become a lot better players at another club.

Just because Jesse White seems a spud so far, doesn't mean that he won't improve.

How many players have looked like nothing at first, but hadn't grown into their body, or couldn't adapt, and then went to another club and became a much better player.

I'm not saying that White could be as good as Tippett, (and you should hold out for a lot more) but all of you writing White off as a spud, when he could end up at Adelaide and play better for you than he did at Sydney.
