Who else other than Rohan (who was only a rumoured)?

You can budge anyone for the right price mate ;)

I can tell you right now that if some of the names the Crows feel would be acceptable in a trade were agreed to Sydney and we were able to tick all the right boxes $$$ wise this deal would've been done 2 and a half weeks ago.

I imagine you're talking about Rohan, which was nothing but 3rd hand, heard from a friend of a friend who knows a dude information.

Mate im not gonna sit here and say I have sources at our club (I have more connections at the eagles than I do at my own footy club but that's another story). My point is, footy players are fickle beasts for the most part. I can guarantee that for every one of the guys we were interested in obtaining, each of them would have a price. Some may have a price tag that places them out of our reach but there's be at least 2 or 3 who'd be willing to move if you dangled the carrot.

The problem isn't the players being unwilling to relocate, it's that Sydney are unrelenting in their attitude towards what they will/won't give up.

Is anyone else in denial RE White+23.

I've been thinking how unusual it is for all this time and likely a lot of people involved in this deal for there to have been no leaks... but then it occurred to me that there has been plenty of reports, and they all point to White+23...

I think i might be clinging a little too optimistically to the hope that the deal we get for Tippett HAS to better than White + 23 and there just havent been any leaks...

To be fair to Sydney, it's not as if they have a pick #10 sitting there but they are only offering #23 -
True but they have assets that could be traded either directly to us, or to another club to get us a top 10 pick but they choose not to.

Sydney came out and said they would not trade a premiership player. That eliminated 22 players from a list of 40! That's over a half! On top of that they have taken Mitchell and Rohan off the table which means that is 25 players that they are saying no to. How the **** can you get a deal for arguably the biggest name in the trade period without giving up value. We are talking about a type of player that is extremely valuable in the modern game and he happens to be a very good player. On top of that he would be in their top 5 players in terms of quality and certainly the highest paid.

Now Adelaide or any other AFL club at some point or another would have been interested in getting a big name player to the club. One of the things they would have gone through was how much that player would cost in terms of money but also what the player would cost in terms of trade currency and then decide whether or not they are prepared to part with that. If they thought it would cost too much, they would have ended it there and then

But Sydney went after him, dropped a reported 4 year $4 million deal but are not prepared to trade what it would take to get him. Now they could very well be misled by the agreement BUT no one banks their whole strategy on something that is not written in the contract. If you can't trade for a player, don't bother going after them, especially when you don't have the ability front load his contract to get him through the draft.

So they want a very good player, their highest paid player for bread crumbs. Its like me walking into the Audi showroom, flashing out my $10 note and saying, I' like that R8 thanks!

And if that's the case then Adelaide are stupid for not telling Sydney to get lost if they aren't willing to up their offer, but they continue to show a lack of testicular fortitude and continue to keep the offer alive.

Lol...yep sign me up.

Its like prelim this year and semi 09.....in them until the last minute but always that sick feeling we woukd not get the result

I don't think we help our cause by staying on the back foot though. WA has a similar lifestyle to Adelaide, is more expensive than Adelaide and further away from the East Coast and yet when Freo and the Eagles draft kids from Victoria they immerse them in the culture and the lifestyle of the footy club so much so that they rarely want to leave. We need to review our screening processes and our handling of draftees IMO.

That said I genuinely think Kurt is one out the bag. A rare breed of human excrement if you will.

Hoping Triggs comments were to protect White from all this and put pressure on Sydney about there cap. Do not want white surplus to our needs.

Ain't that the truth :thumbsu:

I dont know that we have that big of an issue, look at Dangerawesome or Mackay accepting less than he could have at melbourne. Bock and Davis got offerred a lot more money than they were worth, Gunston and Tippett both shit blokes IMO. watching that video of his tippett didnt look that bright. lucky he's tall

If Trigg says, no, we're not interested in White, the question (that will be repeated ad nauseum) becomes "what are you interested in then?" and "are you interested in pick xx or player yy?" which becomes very annoying to constantly deflect.

Easier to continually deflect the same question over and over for as long as you can.

Also, we recruited both Bock and Davis from SA (admittedly David only moved here several years before we drafted him).

The problem isn't recruiting players from interstate. The problem is in the character of players we've recruited - somehow we've read it wrong.

I think someone said earler at some point they decided to recruit upper crust white collar types, rather than the country lads on the assumption they'd stay out of trouble, but on the flipside people like that tend to have less loyalty and be motivated more by money.

Someone needs to tell Trigg to turn this mediation/legal consultation to our advantage. If the agreement exists, male KT abide by it, tell him we will only deal with GC or Brisbane as that is where he has previously said is home.
