Does anybody on this Board think that Tippett will be traded before Friday 2 pm now that the AFL have given the green light for this to happen?

What will Sydney do? Shit themselves because they may have to pay a near commercial price to get him rather than get him for a mediocre draft pick and a player they'd prefer to delist if not contracted? Also Tippett now being a player who might get either deregistered (which I doubt) or suspended for a few matches?

Contracts can be written to accomodate Tippett's penalties so that Sydney wouldn't be disadvantaged. However will they risk the stench surrounding him being bought into their club?

If they don't, does that mean the trigger-happy Tippett group will be threatening Sydney with Supremem Court writs as they did with Adelaide?

Does that mean that Tippett would then be agreeable to go to Brisbane for pick 8 or a Polec if Sydney give him the arse. or would Brisbane gamble that Tippett could slide past GWs and they might get him for nothing? I doubt it as I'm sure that GWS would snaffle him up for a zero cost.

Originally I wanted Tippett to be tosssed into the PSD. However given that we may face unwanted sanctions by the AFL this year or in the future, I'm now happy to get something for him as new players coming our way might become limited due to AFL penalties.

Thoughts?

I really can't see how the afl would let us get anything for him? Why would they say we can trade still, and then as a punishment take what we get from him away? what's the point? Just put him in the draft. They won't let us keep pick 8 or whatever we get for him anyway.

Stab - forget the Wagyu beef. Pie Floater at Cafe De Villis will be just the trick ;)

Jen - do you now agree we have SIGNIFICANT ISSUES down at the club? Been saying it since early 2010 and I think it's time you finally agreed ;)

AFGM - keep posting, fascinated to see what else you have to offer. Still believe the GCS bit as well. The whole thing has stunk to high heaven for a long time. Why oh why would we bend over backwards to keep him when they were putting such ridiculous agreements in front of us. I'm very interested to view some of Kurt's game day efforts in 2010/2011 again... so many guys played with their hearts not in it, would be fascinated to see his body language again. There is no doubt in my mind he didn't want to be here.

There's a significant issue over one player. That nobody can deny. And look, this may well be the catalyst that lead to our disastrous 2010/11 campaigns. Did other players find out about this back door deal? I wonder if Craig knew - he was a squeaky clean character that one, he would have hated it I'm guessing. He lost the plot, didn't he in those years? I know some of you contend it was earlier than that, but was it? I will wait to hear the full outcome of the investigation before I condemn anyone. But it certainly doesn't look good.

There was only one way this could have ended OK and an AFL investigation avoided:

*As Adelaide believed they would (mistake) Sydney needed to trade fairly - and clearly in hindsight that was never going to happen - they've shot themselves in the foot by being greedy;
*Tippett needed to be reasonable to his old club and consider their needs in the equation and moderate his wage demands and stop being greedy - clearly that was never going to happen either. By lawyering up he forced Adelaides hand. Stupid stupid tactic.

Everywhere this as gone off the rails has been behaviourally predictable, if the people involved were suitably skilled and experienced. When are we going to learn these processes are the domain of professionals and not ex-footballers? (And even they make mistakes due to its complexity).

Knowing what we think we know now, this was always going to end in tears. This train wreck has been years in the making. The biggest fundamental mistake was three years ago in trying to keep someone at any cost who clearly didn't want to be here. It was clear at that point the light at the end of this tunnel was an oncoming train. Recruitment 101. He should have been let go then.

This train wreck has been predictable for years on behavioural terms. I hope the lesson has been learnt but somehow I doubt it unless changes are made. No one, I repeat, noone, is worth this.

Wise up AFC. Its a train wreck which will now hurt our 2013 season. Move the wreckage quickly and quickly buy a new train.

This has all been one big JOKE, Clearly this needs to be cleaned up quick but it wont.
Thanks to Kurt this will hurt our 2013 season, I feel for the players and our new coach...
2 days left of this period, any chance of any positive news?

We can now throw the blame on Kurt, the last 24 hours has been a game changer and now our admin are as equally to blame as Kurt is.

Strike 1: The initial clause selling our soul
Strike 2: The salary cap breach for dud brother
Strike 3: Not accepting a decent deal from Brisbane last year which would've avoided this mess.
Strike 4 coming up: Despite being about to cop full whack for above points and ruining our medium term future, we will accept unders from Sydney thus giving our opponents, Kurt Tippett, Peter Blucher, Tony Tippett everything they wanted.

Pack your bags Triggy, and Reidy your legacy has just turned to turd.

Whatever we get in this trade must be on-traded for a player and we should be left with one low pick only this year.

Yes, they will then likely take next years first pick as well, so doubly crucial we get as much talent on board now as we can.

We all suspected that the Crows paid for Joel to be playing in SA, but we also thought that if that was the case that it would have been ratified by the AFL.

The incompetence behind this whole saga is astounding and surely someone has to take the fall for this. The club will loose all respect should they go into 2013 with the same administration.
What's worse is the AFL are only aware of it because Chapman let his emotions get the better of him and vent his anger and blurted it out

What a disaster from wo to go
- Tony Tippett and Blutcher for being heavy handed and insisting on the clause
- Triggy and Reid for agreeing to the clause and selling our soul in the process
- Sydney for playing hard ball and trying to enforce something they would have well known uld have led to an AFL investigation
- Tippett for bringing in his lawyers and threatening AFC with supreme court action. Stupid move Yippett that decision was always not going to end well

This has been a total disaster incigated by Tony Tippett and Blutcher and Triggy crumbled under the pressure that will surely cost him his job
Don't agree with this. Sure they played it hard. But that was because they had us over a barrel (thank you Kurt) with or without that agreement. In fact, the AFC took that agreement off the table early on.

No I'm not - merely commenting on how her article could well have been based on everything that had been said in here over 15,000 posts! much of what she has said in this particular article has been said, almost word for word in here.
Or what's written in here come from what we read in the media.

Seriously Jenny, she's obviously more in touch with this than we are.

I just wonder if the Ireland/Blucher connection will ever be questioned? Why Sydney came in so high and strong and SURE of themselves in August. This smells of insider trading to me. I hope the AFL smell it too!

I was just thinking during the night that the second round concept makes a lot of sense if Tippett and Read were specifically talking about Gold Coast. If Tip said he was happy to sign for 2 more years but was worried that he might still be homesick at the end of his contract and that he would still like the oportunity to go back to the Gold Coast but that as GC would probably finish last or second last in 2012 there first round pick would be 1 or 2 and they probably wouldn't give that up. Reid could easily have said something like "Nah Kurt, we wouldn't be expecting pick one in that case, if it gets to that we would be happy to deal for their second pick which would be about 19, but lets see if you are happy here in 3 years first". The whole thing can sound quite innocent in that light.

I personally can't see the problem with addressing the issue that they both new would face them in 3 years at that time, that's what you do when negotiating. Kurt probably thought that as he could get to GC at that stage with no issues (because of their concessions) that he just wanted to make sure that if he stayed for another 3 years he would still be able to get home easily and that the fact that they would have pick 1 or 2 would cause problems. I can see in that instance why Adelaide would have been so shocked when he anounced Sydney and why everything has escalated since then.

Not doubting that or her for a minute. But there have been quite a few articles/tweets etc that state things as fact, but have in fact been written about in here before hand.

Reid was pretty old school. A hard, tough negotiator whose role was to get it done.

Was the shady Tippett deal a one-off moment of weakness? Or was it par for the course at the time, every other club does it, have to bend a rule occasionally etc?

The club always bragged about how we didn't overpay our stars, yet none were lured away.

Hmmm.

One of the articles state we still want the trade to go ahead as is, why? Sydney get Kurt, we get 23 which might be taken away. They win, we lose, are we dumb? On second thought, no need to answer.

If Kurt is traded I seriously doubt it will be to Sydney. It's why many of their supporters are no longer so smug

As been said before, who in their right mind would pick him up if he might be deregistered after being picked up, even it’s for a short time?
Surely he has tainted his future career.

We haven't really had an interstate star before Tippett. Closest were stenglein and Johnson and they eventually left

I was thinking about posting a similar question this morning. I think Craigy would have been prety uncomfortable about this sort of BS dealing. The playing group must have got wind of all of this - hell, everyone on BF seemed to know!
$kirt may have been a culture-killer in 10/11. Good luck to any club that ends up with him
