It is taking so long because it seems to be quite ambiguous as to whether we broke a rule or not.

Chiefly, which rule states that a player can not have implied into a contract that the club will assist in moving a player on to their club of choice if they want to leave, when the AFL allows it during trade week. They other being have the AFC erred in not disclosing that they would underwrite a shortfall in expected Third Party Additional Payments, is there a requirement for such a disclosure if the payments fall under the prescribed allowable limits.
If there is a guarantee then they are not A third party deal. And so need to be included in the TPP.

If there was no need to disclose because we weren't over the limit. Then why would you submit any payments.

If we was our president, let's face it, we'd probably love him.

Eddie Maguire I could love as a President. He definitely goes over the top a lot, but he is out there standing up for Collingwood all the time. He gets them on the front foot and happily cops the flack that he gets back in return.

Jeff Kennett just seems clueless. I remember the Hawthorn recruiting and coaching staff not being overly happy when he came out and said that 'no premiership player will be traded' after there were rumours of Campbell Brown being put on the trade table in 2008. Funnily enough he kept his mouth shut when Mark Williams was traded to Essendon soon after.

I really don't think any of us here have a clue why it is taking as long as it is.

So you are saying the AFL is corrupt and will bend things for pragmatic reasons? I guess there will always be that temptation but there are some things that will not live up to scruitiny.

I'm saying they won't make us a basket case if the breaches don't call for them to do so. As it stands, it'd be $200k of undisclosed payments which would have fit in our cap (and the line coming from the club seems to indicate we did eventually include those payments within the cap), and our first indiscretion. Carlton on the other hand, exceeded the salary cap by $1.3m, after having already been penalised several times for salary cap breaches.

Is the 200k your estimate / newspaper reports or have the club confirmed it. Also do we know for a fact that we have not exceeded the cap. I am not aware of there being anything but reporters guessing.

I think most agree that the penalties will not be in the same league as Carlton's, and rightly so. The AFL would not care less how PA is doing though when assessing our case. It is ridiculous to suggest that they would have the integrity to give us a lesser charge just because PA aren't doing so well and they need a strong game in SA. We will get what we deserve, because of what we have done (which still isn't really any clearer).

Obviously it's what has been reported. Why would I have an estimate of what we paid? We don't know anything for a fact yet.

Like I said, we'll get the penalties that our indiscretions deserve. However, the post that started this conversation, was a Carlton supporter suggesting that we'll be made an example of, as in have the most severe penalties possible imposed on us. I tend to disagree with this.

I think the AFL may have found themselves in a tricky spot at the moment.
They halted any trade on Kurt through the investigation, but if they find we haven't technically broken any rule, they will be in deep trouble with Kurt and his manager. If he was unable to be traded to a destination of his choice, because he was banned for no actual indiscretion, the AFL will be sued.
I'm thinking that perhaps what we did was fairly minor (in terms of draft tempering) and whilst the AFL will find us guilty (they have to they couldn't suddenly say we didn't break rules and open Kurt up for trade again!) the inability to trade Kurt will be the punishment. Kurt will be cautioned but free to move to a club of his choice (a defacto trade in which he is traded to Sydney for no return)

The 3rd party deal will be different. It is possible that we followed AFL orders (not including 3rd party payments in salary cap) and may be defensible, but I suspect the AFL will fine us anyway. The AFL are taking their time because they want to have fully explored our books and ensured we are otherwise clean before making any decisions.

They're already dealing with one basket case in SA. I highly doubt they'd want to be dealing with two in the future.

Yes I tend to agree. The last thing the AFL wants or needs is to have two basket cases in SA. In fact they need SA to have a strong competitive side otherwise it starts to mess around with the TV deal as ratings would start to decline.

I think we are not in the same league as what Carlton did nor what Melbourne has done. We will get some punishment but our past record plus the AFL's need to keep SA competitve will help shield us.

The AFL won't care what the state of football is like if the action under investigation is bad enough. Yes Carlton's was worse, but one of the major Melbourne clubs was nearly put to extinction because of it. The AFL will NOT make their decision based on PA's current situation. It's ridiculous to think they would.

I reality, we don't know what the clubs position is or was.

It might be worse, but early indications are it wasn't- but who knows not one person outside an afl investigator would have a clue on what is or has gone on.

Well that's true, in fact I said something similar earlier about no one actually knowing what has happened just yet. All we can really go on so far is reports which have proven they themselves don't really know what is happening.

My main point was the a huge organisation such as the AFL are not going to determine penalities for braches of major rules, on another team struggling in the same city. It's ludicrous.

18000+ posts and you still have no idea inregards to Kurntly's persona - allow me to spell it out

IT'S ALL ABOUT KURNT

he would be absolutely shattered if he doesn't get what he wanted and misses Sydney and goes "inland". GWS is not yet in the "cool" social circles, they are the poor cousins in many regards and Kurnt will not be happy about that, sure he will pocket the cash but GWS will not currently fit into his plans, rest assured right now he will be sulking!

Let me spell it out to you.

Ha hated living in Adelaide - full stop.

He didn't hate the club, players, administration or supporters - he hated the city of Adelaide, it's lifestyle and pace.

Sp before you go assassinating his character with little to no idea of what the hell your talking about, do your due diligence and understand why he's moving.

We all know Money has played a part but first and foremost, he wanted to leave Adelaide, also anyone in his circumstances (wanting to leave that city and was offered a 4 year $4,000,000) would do the same. If he was a "shattered man" about playing for GWS, why isn't he looking at signing with the Crows? why - he hates living in the city of Adelaide.

So after 18,775 post it's you who has no idea or your nothing but a self centered individual who is only seeing it for your own perspective.

you are regularly off the mark....I couldn't disgree with you more...again....

I can't wait for us to win the flag next year while Kurnt is sitting at home (where ever that may be in his mind lol) reflecting on the fact that he went from a team that took him to a prelimanery final to a team that's been belted by 100 points a dozen times during the season and people are saying that he's overrated.....he won't have a powerhouse midfield like ours delivering the ball to him and he won't get nearly as many opportunities to kick goals which is really gonna hurt a Kurnt like him as his accuracy isn't usually the best...

If your going to shoot your mouth off about him, how about looking at this situation from his perspective, rather than your own. Then you may gain some understanding and ideas on why he is making the decision he is making.

You can dream all you like about them being a crap side for the next 4 or 5 years but with 25 plus first round picks and a few other key players - their improvement and upside will be very quick and will show a rapid rise up the ladder.

BTW - I don't give a flying **** if you agree with me or not, quite frankly I don't care as you are only seeing things from a very narrow minded way.

I'd say him not looking at re-signing with Adelaide was more to do with the fact that he burnt his bridges with Adelaide, pissed on the ashes and then nuked the remains from orbit, just to be sure.

I think he may have considered it if it wasn't for the fact that his manner of leaving definitely ruled out any possibility of a return.

I think both GWS and GCS are going to have a lot more trouble finding success than people think. Sure it's great that they have a raft of talented young players, all high draft picks, but that doesn't win you premierships alone. We have seen many teams before get in a whole heap of young talent (not as many granted), and fail. You need mature bodies, hard at the ball and some experience to win finals. GCS got some bigger bodies, experience in, but GWS got Scully, Palmer and Davis, not really the guys to lead you through a final I wouldn't have thought.

Add to that some high draft picks won't come on, others will leave for other clubs, and I just don't see what everyone else does with years and years of dominance.

Then he isn't that much of a 'shattered man' as the idea of playing for the GWS has more appeal to it than apologizing for his actions. The playing group are all adults, they are not teenager and I'd suggest they would all forgive him as they would all do the same if they were in his situation.

Dreamin' buddy, a once in a decade warning is coming

Big fine (half suspended as many have suggested)
Loss of 1st and 2nd round picks in 2013 and 2014 - it is too late for this years draft
Reid and Trigg banned from any AFL club positions for 2 years
Blucher 2 years de-registration
Velocity Sports to show cause why they should not be de-registrered
Tippett 10 weeks de-registration including pre-season so probably 6 real games
Sydney small fine for not dobbing

Very harsh but won't come back and hurt you for a few years yet

That post almost earned you a 'like' (for making me laugh) but I have a policy about not feeding trolls.;)

Who do you think we are, Carlton?!

Pretty sure my mind frame throughout the entire ordeal went something like this..

Woohoo trade week! Sanderson is after someone BIG -> Kurt's leaving, well okay he was going to leave anyway -> SYDNEY WTF? -> Err Sydney are offering us WHAT? -> F*** off Sydney -> F*** off White (pretty harsh but that's how I felt at the time) -> ANGER RISING, TRADE WEEK HURRY UP -> Holy sh*t... we've done what!? -> TRIGG YOU COMPLETE UTTER ASSH*LE -> Omg omg omg it's the end of the world -> We're done for, might aswell wait for the outcome -> Hmm it's been a week and still nothing.. -> Maybe it won't be so bad after all? -> Current state, feel optimistic.

Yeah, this post was pretty pointless, lol. Waiting on 5pm to arrive..

Dumb and dumber reporting rumour out of melb is that tippett informing all clubs he will retire if selected by anyone other than swans.

Just for my birthday weekend to commence. Lol sorry, have absolutely no idea when anyone's going to announce anything :(

No worries.

Wasn't it supposed to be today, that's why I asked.
