What is a 'suitable trade'? There's no guidelines by which a player's trade value is set. You might think Polec + pick 30 is a suitable trade, but Brisbane paying what they deem is overs for a player would not be 'suitable trade' from their point of view. No doubt Adelaide would want overs (and fair enough too) for a player that at the time was currently contracted and had come off a good 2010 and decent 2011, and their opinion of overs was Polec + pick 30. Brisbane obviously didn't want to pay the overs price set for him by Adelaide. Brisbane thought pick 8 or pick 12 + compo was a suitable trade, and at the time Adelaide didn't. No one blinked first, and 12 months on we're in the situation we're in now.

I also suspect Brisbane knew that the second round clause existed, there's too many ways Brisbane could've found out, so when Brisbane didn't want to meet the price set by Adelaide, they figured they could take a shot this season too.

How humble of you.

12 and 30 were suitable, 8 was suitable in itself; not including pick 8 and pick 5(Polec) to a deal for a so-so KPF is smart, you are not reading his comments correctly and you are going off on a tangent in order to make yourself feel better with the loss of this man who will put a dark could over your club or the next few years. We didn't lose out by not gaining Tippett and the saga that has followed. Tippett will most likely miss games and his manager will be sanctioned for operating outside of his duty.

I doubt Dr Kerr is an idiot, and to be calling our football administration idiots at this time is laughable. Adelaide payed Tippett outside of the salary cap, they even backed themselves to keep him and now will be facing severe sanctions because of all the underhanded deals they have tried to push through and the blind faith they had in tempting him to stay.

You can get as irate as possible but it won't get you out of the hole you are in. Calling the Lions names may be a quick anger fix but really, you've taken a libelous article from a so called journalist and decided that the Lions are just as bad, if not worse than Adelaide. Focus your anger elsewhere, or have you exhausted as much vitriol as you possibly can at Tippett, your own administration, Sydney and Tippett's manager. Don't bring our club into your clubs misgivings, I'm sorry the Tippett deal didn't get done last year and this year but I've really enjoyed how it has played out.

Polec will be coming home. Its well known he wants home. Seems fairly obvious he is who Sando was talking about when he said in future we will be raiding clubs to bring some of our boys home

EC is right. Its idiotic not to part with a junior midfielder for a KPF/ruck in the prime of his career. Can only assume Kerr thought Brisbane would get $kirt for free when his contract ran out and the clause kicked in. Enter Sydney

Who wouldn't want to get a KPF in his "Prime" for chicken feed. Sydney entered to fray, sure but Adelaide are still in the same position. Without their KPF and without appropriate compensation for him.

All of this may seem idiotic to you but well still have our picks to build our club along with our promising younger players. You guys are pissed that your club didn't take our picks last year, this is all this article is. It's just trying to portray someone other than the Crows administration as idiots. It should't distract from the real issue but some of you are running with it as a distraction without coming to terms with the real problem.

Do not blame Brisbane because your club didn't take our offer.

Nice dribble. Kerr called him one of the best 12 KPF in the world, not to offer up an unproven midfielder when you don't have a key forward is idiotic. I wouldn't be too happy with what happened this year for you, you compensated for not getting Tippett with Stefan Martin and were considering Jesse White FFS. After Brown you have no key position forward, who is your midfield going to kick it to?

As for pick 8 & Polec, where did you read that?

I think you mean drivel.

I doubt Jesse was strongly considered, it was probably more of a tactic to get Melbourne to move along in the Martin trade faster. How can you say that we can't be happy with how our trade period has panned out? Would you like to be in our position going towards this draft or yours?

Honestly, this is a moot point. You lost out on compensation for Tippett last and this year and you are trying to cushion that with the fact that we didn't take him so we are idiots? WTF? Looking for someone new to blame and you find a team that would've compensated you with a first round draft pick but your club was too stupid to take it!!!

We have Brown and a few others coming through but at the moment it is thinner than we'd like. Tippett is not the messiah that would make us a premiership team next year but he certainly is one that will reduce your clubs chances!

You can try and argue as much as you want, it doesn't change the fact that your club has lost an integral part of it's team without compensation and the sanctions yet to be imposed are going to have ramifications now and down the track.

sure, but the time line on the article suggest he was keen to go home around end of 2011. Polec re-signed with us around June/July 2011 for 2 more years. Why would we put Polec on table knowing he is happy to stay with us for the next 2 years ?

It's interesting the article also implies Adelaide backed themselves in retaining Tippett past 2012, but Lions made a mistake in not trading a 19yo who just re-signed with us until 2013. Lacks any logic.

I think most of us agree with you here triple R,..... in fact our officials stuffed up twice, first with the secret side-deal and then not taking you first rounder.

But don't forget we are now looking back with the luxury of hindsight. At the time of the possible trade to Brisbane our officials had a different valuation of Tippett than yours so no trade was done. Now, we can see we should have taken it.

Sorry to digress, but we are hoping to strike gold with our first academy bunch next year, just like you guys did with Tex Walker. For once, we'll get two KPF prospects bypassing draft lottery.

Back to Tippett, keep the rage going.
