David Edwardson was not responsible for creating this incident. Nor was he responsible for properly prosecuting McGee. His responsibility was to ensure the prosecution did their job properly in order to secure the conviction they sought.

If you are looking for answers don't bother looking in his direction.

Anyway.....waaaay off topic

Gee Peter, with responses like that I never would have guessed that you are involved in the legal profession.

I just feel like I've been:

Hope someone is able to answer this.

With Joyce delisted, our squad sits at 37 (including Tippett).

At the National Draft we will have two picks (1 to probably re-draft Joyce, and another for a new draftee) + another pick to officially upgrade Callinan. This takes the list to the maximum 40.

Tippett can then be delisted from our list before the 3rd List Lodgement on November 29. On November 29, our list will come back down to 39.

My question is how do we fill the final spot (#40) on our list? Will we be allowed to, or do we just stay with 39 players on the main list for 2013?

Will it be via the pre-season draft on December 11 or will we be able to upgrade another rookie (eg. Laird)? I ask because there is speculation we may be banned from the pre-season draft.

The club can't draft Joyce until the PSD as the date for nominating for the national draft has already passed.

Yes, I know I could just google it...but for the sake of conversation (and pushing this thread on to the great frontier of 30,000)...who is Eugene McGee and what did he do?

Please tell me you don't live in SA. Otherwise you must have been living under a rock for the last couple of years! :)

Adelaide defence lawyer, hit a cyclist driving home from the pub, didn't pull over and render assistance, never got breathalyzed, got acquitted due to a shamefully poorly presented prosecution case and poor police investigation. Magnet for conspiracy theorists.

drunken hit & run although not necessarily in that order according to the allegations against his barrister, one Eddo, who apparently nearly wasn't made a QC because of said "unethical" behaviour. PeterJ can elaborate.

Not to sound like a homer, but one of these seems less severe than the others.
Do you think the introduction of free agency will have any impact on the Crows' punishment? eg is there a chance the commission will take an even harsher view of salary cap breeches than previously?

She's definitely going hard on that one.

I do find her a bit hypocritical on the Rendell incident though. I remember watching the Rendell interview on Footy Classified. Caro seemed to basically ignore what Rendell was saying and was just trying to attack him further. She had already made her mind up about the situation and nothing was going to remotely change her mind.

I got the impression that she though Trigg's decision was absolutely the right one to make, yet her article above now suggests that Trigg handled it badly (which I think he did). So she seems to have changed her opinion now to suit this article (which is not really surprising to me).
Agree with this - was going to say the same thing !

Bullshit and defamatory.

A lawyer who hit and killed a cyclist while driving but didn't report it till the next day allegedly to hide the fact that he was drunk.

Arguably he should be in jail, but escaped with a wrap on the knuckles.

This is not Tippett's fault. It is our fault. We chose our path now we need to finish it.

It's both of our faults, but certainly it is not fair to place it entirely on Tippett's shoulders. It's sad that an entirely innocent person, who wasn't even a player at the club at the time, has become the victim of this situation.

Even if we lose draft picks, we'll have a rookie selection available. (Hopefully two as I don't believe the AFL would be allowed to prevent us from upgrading a rookie, and Laird would likely get the nod if we are barred from using pick 20) In that case the Crows owe Joyce the opportunity to be drafted back onto the rookie list at the very least.

After listening to SEN this arvo - Terry Wallace and most of Melbourne think that Tippett should be out of the game for 12 months and Adelaide should have the book thrown at them. The whole book. Was the closest I have come to calling a radio station - seemed way over the top considering the other draft offences and punishments for other clubs in the past.

I can't agree with that. The position that we are in and the delisting that happened today is because of the actions we as a club took. It has nothing to do with anyone else. The situation KT is in and the punishment he gets will be a result of his actions not anything that the AFC has done. He is responsible for his actions and the consequences as are we. Some of the consequences of our actions were felt today.

I believe you're thinking of listed out of contract players. The deadline for de-listed players to nominate for the national draft is tomorrow.

They have to comply with overriding principles of procedural fairness and natural justice.

Agreed. The lawyers for both sides will be now trying to find out the structure for the hearing and the AFL's rules governing the hearing.

If you know those things you're not ethically allowed to defend or prosecute someone.

I share an apartment with an ex defence lawyer who had his own firm in Georgia. There are no ethics.

Edit: Never goes near pedophiles though. Only because as he has stated, he would be looked down upon by others in the business.
