I share an apartment with an ex defence lawyer who had his own firm in Georgia. There are no ethics.

I think it's something like "I don't want to know certain details". If I don't know I cant perjure myself. Self preservation is high on the agenda, right up there with winning.

Agreed, it shows in his work AND unfortunately his social life.

But what I really hate is the AFL .... Way too much underhanded crap from them helping the expansion teams at the cost of clubs that made the competition what it is today.

Amen. I was hoping the two expansion teams failed and Vlad had to go as a failure......but having seen some quality GC posters on this site I now hope GC survives.

Actually he's told me that he's knows they are guilty. He tells his clients that he KNOWS that they are guilty but to hire him to minimise the damage.

I can't agree with that. The position that we are in and the delisting that happened today is because of the actions we as a club took. It has nothing to do with anyone else. The situation KT is in and the punishment he gets will be a result of his actions not anything that the AFC has done. He is responsible for his actions and the consequences as are we. Some of the consequences of our actions were felt today.

The fact is both the club and the Tippett camp are responsible for this situation having occurred. When there are consequences to that situation, both must wear blame.

You can argue about the ratio in which that blame is shared, but it's too simplistic to say we wear the blames for consequences that directly affect us and vice versa.

IMO Trigg's future may well be decided by the AFL rather than the AFC.

Exactly right Macca, depends on how hard the AFL hit us. If the AFL really do have a high regard for Triggy this is our best hope, that they'll go easy on AFC so Triggy keeps his job.

That case had less to do with whether McGee actually committed the offense and more to do with technicalities and multiple police bungles. Everyone knew that McGee hit the cyclist and left him for dead, but it was the incompetence of the police that lead to a lack of admissible evidence. Edwardson is a shrewd guy; he identified this, and hopefully he'll destroy the AFL on monday

But the AFL is the judge and jury!

Surely Trigg's position as CEO is untenable.

If he survives, something seriously stinks.

True KM, it is unlikely he will survive (Queen Caroline has spoken after all) but if, big if here, the AFL accepts our arguments and say, best case, just fines us along with losing Tippett for nothing

or

all the fault is put on JR

then

I think the Board would keep Triggy on (but he would start looking for another job and leave after a decent period of time to preserve his dignity).

Whilst JR probably instigated this (after being forced into a corner by Tippett senior), Trigg approved & attempted to cover it up & lied to everyone including the board about the illegal contract.

Sorry, but IMO this makes his position untenable. No "ifs & buts" in my mind.

according to what has been reported in the media. Trigg isnt the only one facing a charge here.

Harper has been charged, but if he gets into big trouble, this will be a joke as what else could he do, given the contract was already signed years ago. It's not like he was in a position to blow the whistle on the club & kiss his job goodbye.

This is not before the courts, its not a court of law, the most important thing is a knowledge of AFL regulations imo

One of these kids is not like the other

No, it's not a court of law, but there is a chance that a court of law is where it could end up. As such, knowing which of these laws is going to stand up in an actual court of law becomes very important.

Hope someone is able to answer this.

With Joyce delisted, our squad sits at 37 (including Tippett).

At the National Draft we will have two picks (1 to probably re-draft Joyce, and another for a new draftee) + another pick to officially upgrade Callinan. This takes the list to the maximum 40.

Tippett can then be delisted from our list before the 3rd List Lodgement on November 29. On November 29, our list will come back down to 39.

My question is how do we fill the final spot (#40) on our list? Will we be allowed to, or do we just stay with 39 players on the main list for 2013?

Will it be via the pre-season draft on December 11 or will we be able to upgrade another rookie (eg. Laird)? I ask because there is speculation we may be banned from the pre-season draft.
Is the Nominated Rookie option still available next season? Vader If so, could just play Laird as a NR on our senior list from round 1.

but youre assuming trigg knew about this before the fact as well. The AFC have been keeping quiet over this and if Blucher is the big source on this one then you can imagine how a one sided picture would start to emerge. Im not saying trigg should or shouldnt keep his job, i think its too early to make that determination. There are a handful of people that ARE in a position to make that determination and i think we should wait to hear both sides of this before we condemn Trigg and end his career.

Trigg authorised the contract & his name is all over it & the emails.

He OK'd the illegal agreement, then covered it up.

Not even the best lawyer in the world could get him off clean of any involvement - just way too much evidence!

I think its pretty safe to assume the QC's will have a browse of the AFL regs.

Cross post from 'time to go trigg'

Seeing the word untenable so often has become painful.

According to thesaurus.com here are some synonyms

absurd, casuistic, cockeyed, fallacious, false, fatuous, faulty, groundless, hollow, implausible, inconclusive, incongruous, inconsequent, inconsistent, incorrect, invalid, irrational, irrelevant, mad, meaningless, not following, nutty, off the wall, preposterous, screwy, self-contradictory, senseless, sophistic, sophistical, specious, spurious, unconnected, unproved, unreasonable, unscientific, unsound, unsubstantial, untenable , wacky, without basis, without foundation

I take it you havent actually seen the evidence, so you dont know if it exists as has been reported. are you claiming that based on what youve read on the internet and your gut feel you know the truth behind all of this? let the AFL know as it would save everyone a lot of time and money.

But the AFL is the judge and jury!
This is what concerns me. The Crows have hired a gun lawyer to defend them, the AFL has hired a gun lawyer to act as "prosecutor", and yet the final call will be made by the AFL commission which is more or less Demetriou and Anderson. Whatever happens, whether the result is good or bad for the Crows, the adjudicating body will not be impartial or independent of the AFL.

There is no denying Trigg's involvement ... but feel free to stick your head in the sand.

in reality, the saddest part about this, weather we are innocent or guilty the AFL will need to ping us for something given they got in the way of the trade and have created a rather large shit storm (well the 2 parties created it but the AFL and magnified it's impact - not that I'm suggesting they had any other option)

The AFL, to save face will find us guilty of something, its going to depend how bid Vlad and AA want to pump their chest as to what the penalty will be and what particular thing we are found guilty for.
