Again, Chapman has been very adamant that we will, so why are you criticising the club on something you are making a bold assumption on? You are basically assuming that Chapman is not a man of his word, when I know full well he is.

The club has lied to us throughout.

And how exactly do you know what chapman is like? First hand experience or 2nd hand hearsay?

I'd like you to be right, so please help me believe in your credibility

WTF is wrong with that? Believe me, the majority of people living in SA are over this whole saga, and I doubt tomorrows hearing result will change their membership status.

Seriously, what a ******* stupid thing to say.

And again, making assumptions about the penalties from media articles, before they are known, and then criticising the club (without even knowing if they intend to fight the charges in court).

I liked it when you dissipated into the BF wilderness for a while, go back there please.

Give it a rest with the personal sh*t will you. I'm sick of seeing you abusing people and constantly getting away with it. Act like a human being for once keyboard cowboy.

Yes, looking forward to hearing the truth. Especially the part about Chapman only finding out about the Tippett deal when Trigg returned from holiday.

Of the infamous handshake at West Lakes in 2009 that was supposed to give Tippett an easy return to the Gold Coast, Chapman said: "That was three years ago...and some people have selective memories."
Hang on... three years ago? Didn't you just find out a couple of days ago, Rob? Memories of what?
Oh, and the truth from Trigg will be interesting too:
His remarks to The Advertiser on Monday and Tuesday sounded like riddles. To specific questions on what had happened on Friday, Trigg politely responded: "If I answer that, I'll give the whole game away."
The whole game away? What game?

We know why our lawyers told us to shut the **** up.

Less than 24 hours then the Truth Telling Competition can begin! I'm hoping it's Chapman to take the new ball with Trigg first change.

There is no doubt Trigg & Harper have been less than truthful.

With regard to Chapman, he may have been out of the loop with what Trigg, Reid, Harper & Co were doing ... but even up until recently he has been backing Trigg & Co in as if there was little in it/no more skeletons in the closet & we would challenge certain charges ... yet we now have pleaded guilty to all. Was he nieve to still believe what Trigg was saying. I suspect so, rather than him being part of the cover-up, as I don't think he would have acted so confidently early in the piece if he knew the full truth. My main issue with the board, is why were they the only ones in the footy world who didn't seem to know about this illegal contract of their highest paid player, when so many rumours were doing the rounds. Surely they could have dug deeper.

I know him first hand. Baccs is on the money as far as Chapman goes

Colonel, I'm reasonably comfortable in suggesting to you that you don't get to run a bank if you lack smarts or credibility.

Safe to say he's got runs on the board.

Dude, you've thrown so much mud over the last 6 months that some of it was bound to stick in the right place. I wouldn't be patting yourself on the back, given that 90% of the crap you've written has been proven to be rubbish, leading directly to your self-imposed exile when he announced he was going to Sydney. Such a pity you chose to return, the forum is worse off for your decision to backflip.

Arrghh, the usual balanced commentary from Darth.

Just to put the record straight, I went on holidays just after Kurt announced he was going to Sydney. The change of avatar was meant to be a prediction of what was lying ahead (a bit too subtle for you Vader?) I subsequently found it even more entertaining to watch you and other keep digging a bigger hole for themselves rather than continue to cop insults for predictions that eventually were accepted as facts. I returned when the majority of my "good oil" was made public. No, I wasn't aware of the final Tippett doublecross but not even the inner sanctum at the Crows saw that coming.

I will be happy to provide a detailed list of where I was right and where I was wrong once the club provides the full story. I am confident I will be much, much closer to 90% right rather than 90% wrong as you have stated. I would match my record against everyone except Emma Quayle (now that's what I call a source). I haven't noted your commentary on the accuracy of Jenny's statements for example (she was still saying her sources were assuring her that Kurt would stay as the moving guys were carrying out the grand piano).

My recent statement regarding the earlier indicretions under Triggy's watch did not come from anyone at the club. My source is impeccable and I am interested if anyone else has heard something (nothing has come out in the press yet).

Soon we can put all of this behind us and concentrate on more relevant matters like the accuracy rate of Canberra posters predicting the delisting or trading of 30% of our young KIDS. What level of accuracy would you attribute to those predictions by posters that have never/hardly ever seen these KIDS play :p.

again contradicts EQ who said we'll plead guilty to all charges

Interesting what Chapman said when interviewed at the airport, only caught a bit of it but heard him respond to a question on the penalties and he finished with "if in fact there are any more".
Sounded like he may be expecting less than what has been bandied around the last 3-4 days or maybe the loss of $kirt and the first 2 picks in this years draft may be it, other than possibly monetary penalties and suspensions to Trigg and or Harper.
In any case I thought it was an odd comment to make.

Righto...

Picking Up The Pieces
I hope we don't get whacked too hard. A fine and the first two picks on the 2013 draft will sting but won't cripple. Anything more than that though... well, we can worry about that later.

Just as vexing an issue though is how to make fans care for the club again. I'm not talking about the unconditional AFC lovers. I'm talking about the normal people with opinions, minimum standards, who expect a level of professionalism and actually want to see the club succeed.

This whole thing has left a bitter taste in the mouth and whilst the wounds are fresh, it is difficult to muster the same enthusiasm for the club as we've had previously. This time last year for instance (coming off two diabolical seasons) the board was lit up with training chatter. Now it's on a drip feed.

So whatever the final penalties, how can the club pick up the pieces and rebuild?

I think step one is honesty.

And not the banal, fake honesty that no doubt will get trotted out tomorrow afternoon and has already been typed up ready to hit the air waves:
Acknowledge that we made a mistake...
Accept the AFL Commission's decision...
Error of judgment that has hurt the club...
Never intended to breach AFL rules...
Etc

I would like the club to talk openly about the last three years. What was it like living with this contract that we realised early on was illegal and could get us in deep shit? A dark cloud that has hovered over the club ever since.

I can imagine that the stresses of this illegal deal have simmered away in the background at the club for a long, long time. This was not the domain of a few - it impacted on the coaching staff, recruitment, list management/trading, finance department, sponsorship/marketing department, media... It was a burden shared by many and must have made for a very unpleasant environment.

What was it like being in two minds about whether to come clean to the AFL, suck it up and cop our punishment... or try to stay quiet and hope that someway, somehow it would go away?

Also the pressures of 2009. When we had Neil's new dream team on the rise and Tippett was the centrepiece. How close was he to leaving, how desperate did we become?

What happened in that three week period? The one between Reid's letter and Trigg's annulment. And the machinations within the club at the time.

Phil Harper - what was it like coming to work and having to administer deals that you knew were underhanded? How frustrating was it to inherit this deal from your predecessor?

The worry that someone would find out about it - Brisbane hovering around in 2011 and possibly finding out about the last year of Tippett's crooked side deal that Blucher might have raised with them and asked them to match. The quandry this placed the club in - do the trade and possibly get sprung... or don't do the trade and hope that we can talk Tippett into staying.

The panic stations there must have been at the club when the media started speculating about the 'exit clause' all those months ago. Who else knew? Who had leaked?

Trigg's quandry about having to deny publicy that the deal existed when he knew there was more to the story.

I want to hear Trigg, Reid, Harper, Chapman... whoever explain exactly what has transpired and the pressures it has placed the club under. Not in an attempt for sympathy, just for understanding. There CANNOT be questions left unanswered. If there are then this issue will continue to bubble away. It will fester. The trust factor between fans and club will remain at zero. The only way we can move forward is full, complete, unadulterated disclosure. It might be painful, it might be embarrassing but it will provide an end point. We can't start healing and repairing our club until it happens.

Wow, I bet you could interchange Caro's and Gary's (is that his name again? been out of Australia too long) hair and you wouldn't notice.

All good mate. I don't take things too literally when people are expressing their frustrations. I back myself in to read between the lines a little - but always happy to be proven wrong. For what its worth I was calling 'significant issues' at the club back in early 2010. Now look where we are...

FYI - I'm still leaving it open for AGFM to have a tight connection to Craigy as defending him so vigorously and now wanting to dump on those who sacked him do make sense ;)

He reminds me, at times, of Crow-mo - and god knows we all miss him ;) (there - I think this thread has covered everything now hasn't it?)

Oh, I totally believe that there have been issues at the club for a while. Don't get me wrong, I love AFGM's posting. I'm just not sure how much is his 'high level' source or just a forensic mind that can put two and two together. FWIW I want him to be legit. This board is much more fun when there's a sniff of a genuine leak in the air.

Oh, and Crow-mo was my favourite poster when I first discover BF. His excoriations were Keating-like. I still follow him on twitter but he's not nearly as entertaining there.

My ears pricked up as well at his comment at the airport...but I heard the word sanction directly followed by 'if indeed there are any'

I thought it was a weird thing to say.

Having said that we will get a six figure fine. I will cop that if no further draft picks are taken off us and Flogface gets a holiday #friends4lyfe

No one believes the Vanuatu story. It's very Poidacat. I was online when the news broke that he selected Sydney and so were you (and many other people). I remember you posting literally moments (possibly even seconds) before the news broke still pushing the Gold Coast claim. And boom, as soon as the news broke you stopped posting. Then you conveniently started posting again right after EQ broke the gentlemen's agreement story to let everyone know you were right about that. So, let the story go please, no one cares if you lied or whatever, it's not that serious. I disagree however with Vader about the sentiment that the forum is worse off with your return. Just let it go and move on. Thanks.

That is scarey.

Looks like 4 blokes - a drag queen modelling themselves on Santo, 80's rock star, pretend journo & grumpy-old man.

To quote some of tha apologist. "don't you understand the difference between the role of the board and the CEO?".

Whilst I haven't had the chance to read the constitution, or whatever over-riding document that sets out their roles and obligations as board members, I'm quite certain that it would have been to protect the football club against against multi-year draft penalties and 6 figure fines.

A ball has been dropped here and someone, or some people, need to pay the price.

Ffs, if you work in a supermarket and steal a mars bar you could get the sack.
