Very brave boy. Be interesting to see if dad ever comes to watch him play, or whether that honor will be bestowed only on the golden child?
I don't know much about him, but I would hope people don't judge him based on the actions of his brother. Always will be a few knuckleheads who will, but I hope the majority leave him alone.

I'm proud of the kid. Probably first time he's ever said no to his dad (you'd have to think his father was involved in the Sydney/rookie offer). Problem for him is that he looks like his brother. Undoubtedly will cause issues.

That's not the context of these posts. There is no dispute Trigg has monumentally cocked up re this Tippett saga. I'm just addressing the perception that he was a f**k up even before these events unfolded.

The fact out corporate sponsors are happy for our Chairman to come out and say that Trigg has their (the sponsors) full support, in spite of his balls up in relation to this issue, surely suggests that are more than happy with where their investment in the club is at, and where it is heading, with Trigg at the helm.
One of the reasons put forward to retain Trigg is because he has the support of the sponsors. Sure, but it's not like they are all going to jump ship if Trigg was sacked. So what the sponsors think should be irrelevant to Trigg keeping his job. ie. We can kill off that bit of spin.

I still don't understand what knowledge/skill-set Trigg has built up that is so critical that the Board felt compelled to keep him, given the huge incompetent mistakes he has made, covered up from the board (or has he...) & according to him he can't handle pressure sometimes, making him prone to more mistakes.

Not after this disaster. Prior I had little regard one way or the other.

Ok Fine so your answer is No.

Now if Trigg had come out last week and apologised, said it was all his fault etc etc would I be correct in saying you would still not be a fan of his and you would still want Trigg to resign.... yes or no?

I note that a sponsor's biggest issue is whether they get the exposure they are paying for, and probably not whether or not we win, or are well-governed.

Lance Armstrong??

Sponsors do not like their name associated with anything disreputable.

Port Adelaide??

Losers for the past 5 years and can't get a major sponsor of any worth.

No, I was not implying that at all. Far from it. If I were in Triggs position, I would have resigned and I feel he should also resign.

However, my post only ever attemped to offer a possible reason for Trigg's (poor) demeanor and public reaction to the penalties, particularly considering, the diametrically opposted ones of Chapman.

You having a go at me without considering my motives, is what Big Gazoongas is aluding too.
I'm sorry, but that is exactly what you implied - go back and read your post.

I would still have wanted him to resign, you are correct.

The only way I wouldn't have is if we fought the accusation and won, or lost but stuck to our side of the story that didn't paint Trigg as a cheat or incompetent.

I would have a lot more respect for the man if he was IMO genuine in his remorse. Instead I perceive arrogance and apathy toward supporters.

Good point. Also, they prefer their brand not be dragged through the mud. But, do they want to win, or just get positive exposure?

What really frustrating even more than Trigg buddies supporting him and no showing real strength is that $urt will now end up at Swans with GWS saying cant afford . Boy is Sheedy full of crap.
My hope Brisbane come from left field and draft him.
But here is a question how can the premiership team afford him but btm team full of kids and has beens cannot.

Oh really? I haven't been following him much post SANFL season, was he was being told he should leave Adelaide was he?

So "No" on both counts. This is the point I have been trying to make. No matter what Trigg said after 30/11 he was doomed.

Thanks for your honesty Stripple:thumbsu::thumbsu:

There is another method that I suggested before if people are that angry - an organized no-show for a big game with a guaranteed national TV audience, like the first game of next season against Essendon. It's a very visual indicator to the club (and the rest of the AFL) that supporters are pissed off with what's happened, but if the majority who don't turn up are paid up members it doesn't hit the club's bottom line - it just looks very, very embarrassing.

But, but, it hurts the team I hear some of you cry. Not any more than the loss of draft picks and the loss of respect our team has incurred from this whole disaster - the players should know they have our full support if there's the usual turnout for the other 21 games of the year anyway.

What about standing with our backs to the game for the first five minutes of the quarter. It would be a strikinginly visual protest and would not hurt the club we love at all?

The sponsors for Armstrong got it both ways. Got the good when he was winning, and then could discard him and say how disgusted they were and not being involved with him once the cheating all cam out, creating more attention to their brand, none in a bad light.

Umm. Sydney announced last week that they were looking to rookie him. I have no idea what he has done since SANFL gf - although I did hear he attended both the game and post match celebrations. I'm sure someone in here suggested he'd packed up and was moving to Sydney?. Not 100% though.

You got there before I did... definitely exposure is important, but an integral part is the association that people make between club and company. No one wants their brand to be associated too closely with losers, nor cheats for that matter, well in principle they shouldn't. However, I can't say that I have a negative reaction toward VISY at all.

Perhaps someone in here thought they should do the boards job? ;)

Where did you come across the information?

I note that a sponsor's biggest issue is whether they get the exposure they are paying for, and probably not whether or not we win, or are well-governed.

Are you suggesting that a Corporate sponsor is indifferent to the success of the club they are partnering with?

On field success directly impacts their return on investment. Off field success has a massive influence over on field performance.

Of course they care.

I would have still wanted him to resign, however, I would have had some form of respect left for him. He's acted in the same way that Tippett has, which is blame his actions on others. It's ****ing pathetic.

And a predictable response from you:thumbsu:

Funny how you would receive a predictable response to a moronic comparison, isn't it?
