I just wish my employer was stupid enough to offer me a too good to turn down deal to stay and then be even sillier to sign off on it knowing it was against company and organisation policy.

The only party I'm angry at right now about this is the Adelaide Crows who allowed it to ****ing happen.

Yeah, lets keep moving the blame away from the real people.

Awesome.
I read back over the posts on this page and fail to see what you had a hissy fit at with your "Leave Britney/Sydney alone" comment..

Maybe you should stop constantly assuming things for others.. Some blame sits at the feet of some people at the AFC, doesn't change the fact that some sits with this guy, and that he is a huge tosser.. And as for Sydney, we all know they were involved in trying to use the clause.. Just a pity that it is impossible to really prove..

Still think it doesn't make sense - a) how Kurt (NOT a free agent) can manipulate the draft to get what he wanted all along - isn't that against the rules? B) how Sydney, who attempted to take advantage of an illegal agreement, still get what they want. And how is it that they can now afford $800,000 in the first year, yet insisted we take white as part of the trade because they didn't have room within their cap, but now do?

But i am pleased for nick Joyce, that this is all over now.

Edit. Wonder if tippetts legal threats had anything to do with GWS suddenly not being able to afford him, and Sydney being able to afford the massive first year?

I don't get why so many are actually having a hissy fit towards Sydney?

Don't blame them, blame the Crows for allowing this to happen. It should never have reached this point.

Kurt Tippett was always leaving, we knew he was leaving 3 years ago when he agreed/suggested a go home clause was added to the contract.

Maybe you should just stop assuming this was directed at you. I didn't link it to anyone quote, it was a generalization and their has been plenty of blame linked towards Sydney and Tippett to justify my comments.

If you're sitting on the fence and blame the club, how does my comment influence you or was even directed at you.

After it became clear the White trade wasn't happening, the Swans cleared the decks of about 3-4 players to make cap room.

A predictable (and infuriating) ending to what has been an absolutely sickening saga from the get-go. Those responsible still at the helm. Well done to the AFL also, you really showed Kurt who's boss..

They had the opportunity but chose not to and they didn't go after Tippett for the reason you are suggesting.

Yeah, I wonder why all 17 other clubs didn't dump $800,000 from their salary cap at the last moment. That's why they didn't go after him.

Lesser known ones though? $800,000 the first year for 11 games (if that) - how do you feel about that?

isnt that my point? that they didnt? you said every club would.
not that it matters, he's gone, and we're still in the crap.

every other club who had a pick passed over him...
they could have cleared space and got him if they wanted

The reason that all other clubs passed on Kurt was because he is not worth the value that he has placed on his head, Syd have paid way overs, other clubs were not prepared to do the same

Personally and as I said from day 1, I could not stomach the $800k a year that we had offered, his performances over time does not warrant that bracket of coin and the argument that some on here have that he is important to our structure is flawed, Jacobs, Talia and Tex are all important to our structure just as Truck has been for years, none of these players earn anywhere near that coin and one is a AA, the other a rising star, the other two were under AA consideration

Kurt's CV, finished 15th in b&f

And if every club could fit him under their salary cap, they would. But they couldn't, so they didn't.

Sydney did nothing wrong. We did.

I think 2 of Dennis-Lane, Moore, Meredith & Seaby were late delistings, from memory. All mid-long term players who between them would've had decentish coin. Easily 300-400,000.

Regarding next year, I'm not too worried about his per game wage. He's not pricing anyone else out of the side, and front loading it like that will give us room to resign players like Kennedy, Hannerbery and Jetta in 2014 and onwards.

TBH, I'm probably happier we're paying him a shitload of money next year, rather than 2-4 years down the line. And I'm pleased with the 2 year deal rather than 4.

I didn't say it was directed at me.. I haven't even posted in a while in here for you to be replying to me.. So you just decided to erupt with a post like that based on someone blaming Sydney from page *random number 23* of the thread? Umm ok..

I don't know all of the facts so I don't place 100% blame in one area or another as some experts have been doing.. But I do know they were all involved.. It takes 2 (or more on this occasion) to tango..

Will be fresh for the second half of the year, will take a few games to fully get up and running but will hopefully get us deep into September. Not over the moon, but not unhappy either.

How do you feel about it?

The buck has to stop with someone? can we agree on that?

That's why 100% of the blame has to stop with the Crows. They needed to make this null and void and in writing as soon as they found out. That is why, they are 100% to blame.

They have a duty of care to govern the club and make decisions on behalf of the supporter base.

Whine and bitch about my posting all you like but that is the end of story. Crows say no, this doesn't happen and that's why he is in his position.

What is going to stop other players looking at what Kurt has done and not do the same??? I feel he might of just started a trend of players holding clubs for ransom.....

White's salary was reported to be 300-350k wasn't it? That's 2 of those players they cleared, probably with some change leftover when you factor in the CoL allowance (assuming it's being dispersed among the entire playing group as intended).

Tbh I'm just glad this whole saga has come to an end. It's our own fault for not getting something in return and the individual/s involved at the club should be seeking new employment over Christmas.

Glad it's finally over now, most of us can move on and forward now.

Interesting the article saying it is now a 2 year deal, the first year at $800k and the second year significantly less. Does this mean the offer the Crows put to Tippett would have actually netted him more money?

If he doesn't fire a shot (which he hasn't done that often for us), no way will the Swans offer him another massive contract. Put that with missing 11 games, he'll hope he loves living in Sydney.

People there will comes time in future where both clubs will need to retain their stars or attract a key recruit, one club won't be servetly restricted by cap issues the other will have a significant portion of their cap invested into the one player

I am not pleased with the club on handling of this matter however given Kurt's salary I do truly believe that we have dodged bullett

Big gamble by Sydney giving that 1. Kurt as yet has not lived up to the currency and 2. Clubs are taking aim at Sydney's cap assistance

In your eyes they are 100% in the wrong because it affects you and your club.. Why was Kurt Tippett found/pleaded guilty and suspended? Oh.. His player manager did nothing wrong? Oh.. If they said no, this doesn't happen either.. You're simply trying to have it one way..

Honestly, I cheered for Sydney to win the GF this year, even went to the mcg to join in the celebrations. Bought a poster and all. Now? I'd struggle to even muster an ounce of interest for Sydney which saddens me. They were one of the first teams I ever saw live (south Melbourne v Carlton) in 1979, so I've always had a soft spot. Now I hope their greed in trying to (and now achieving) get him for next to nothing, turns around and bites them in the arse. May both Sydney and Kurt Tippett implode under the cancerous stench his selfishness permeates. I don't think sydney supporters have a clue what's about to hit them.
