Rules will be changed to fix this at end of season. I rekon you can lock that one in thanks eddie.

Yeah. Look, he didn't maliciously kick a guy in the face. But having the boot up that high to protect yourself is asking for trouble.
Players have been doing it for ages, never been a great fan.

Neither have i. And i didnt like this even a little bit. But he shouldnt have been suspended because he the rules dont disallow what he was doing. You also are not allowed to have an end result like that. But he was strangely protected by the rules.

The afl will fix this like they always do when a publicly hated player does something stupid.

he wasn't protected by the rules but by the MRP incompetence. High, careless and medium impact at best. How could you come to any other conclusion?

It's absolutely appalling that Greene has gotten off. The AFL should appeal the MRP's decision, unless they want to be seen as supporting this sort of act.

...until it happens to, oh let's say, Zac Merrett...
Couldn't care if it was our player or not. There have been several instances where opposition players have hurt one of of our players and I've called for them to be let off. I actually wasn't too fussed if Greenwood got let off for his hit on Merrett earlier this year

You are kidding me that he only got fined. Obviously AFL understands his importance to them. Clearly intentional, it was reckless, dangerous and it injured Dahlhaus. Just disgraceful. For the Cats, duncan and worse hawk both suspended for 5 weeks down to three for early pleas. This guy was kept out of considering his record. Ok, one rule for GWS/Syd/haw/Adel with intentional dangerous acts. Tex rammed a guts head into a post tgen went oh no I didn't mean it, sorry. That act was one of the most dangerous acts I have ever seem. Papley going to ground is hardly in the same category. AFL has head up bottom on what needs to be protected and how and what doesn't.

When something happens against your team or by a player you hate "Head is sacrosanct, rub him out, stick his head on a pike outside the G!!!!".

When something happens that your player did "Nanna state, games gone soft, but player X did worse, the bump is dead, the games turned to netball!!!".

Because i dont view it as a suspendable offence rather as incidental contact.

He broke the rules and collected him high so therfore the result is a free kick against for high contact.

That doesnt mean i agree with what he did or like it. But when i saw it live i thought "wow thats ugly... but technically he didnt do anything wrong"

I know people dont agree with me and thats fine.

Incidental contact is when you have no other option and contact happens. Like McGovern's marking attempt on the weekend. Greene had a lot of options to not kick Dahlhaus in the face whilst still 'protecting his space' and playing the ball. This wasn't incidental contact, if it was he wouldn't have copped anything.

It's really difficult for me to reconcile the fact this thread has over 1000 replies whilst at the same time the Wines on Langdon incident has less than 100.

Is it simply the Toby Greene factor?

There was more reason for Wines to be given a holiday than Greene.

We see the Wines incident every three weeks, cut and dry 1 week suspension, not much to talk about.

A lot to talk about when a player gets kicked in the face

Are you suggesting the AFL has a bias towards GWS? Must be why they are 4th in free kicks against and 13th in free kicks for. Would explain Mumford missing a week and Wines getting off this week.

Imagine GWS had players in positions 1 and 2 on the Free Kicks for stat.... Woah!

Also, not sure how Hawthorn got a mention in this post. Please list the Hawks that should've been suspended in the last 12 months and got off? Was Tex Walker part of the JOM deal?

You would expect an extraordinarily high proportion of Geelong whining after Moron 1 and 2 got done for something completely irrelevant and unrelated

This is normal.

CAN whinge those blokes.

Correct decision other than the silly fine.

A roundhouse action happens many times a season. A quick kick around the body at a lose ball sometimes has that action.
You've never kicked around your body, have you?

You don't roundhouse kick to kick around the body.

Your post was foolish, just own your stupidity.

Contender for post of the year.

Why are misconduct fines separate from other ones?

If I had to guess I would say because they are not designed to be used they way it was for this case.

There are other charges they could have used in this instance like rough conduct (like he was charged by the umpire) for or making unresionable and unnessesary contact to the face. The problem being using those and Greenes bad record would have seen him being suspended for at least 3 weeks.

Leaving a misconduct charge to be used for things like chucking away an opponents shoe or the like. These charges have no ability for any level to end in a suspension just higher fines. All of the charges that are separated this way are for non violent incidents or incidents that do not result in injury with the exception of attempting to strike.

In reality the question that needs to be asked if Dahlhaus had been knocked out or concussed from the hit would it still be a misconduct charge or something else? If the answer is no then why does splitting open a face get charged for it?
