Today I was riding my bike through a school when I turned around and saw a shadow of a bird behind my wheel, I look up and see this magpie  just about half a metre above my head! I turned around suddenly and kept riding, turn back and it's still staring at me...I think it was making noises too...

I was so scared, I rode as fast as I could, luckily, once I got off the school grounds it left me alone..

Ooohh I hate magpies now!

Have you ever been swooped or swept?? by a magpie?

Today...

Is the greatest day I've ever known.

Can't live for tomorrow, tomorrow's much too long.

Swept:
- Yes, several times in cricket. Damn it, I never got any LBW's.
- When I was laying on the pavement, Mum was sweeping at the same time but I was too lazy to move.

Swooped:
Yes, by Magpies a lot! Used to ride my bike quite a fair bit to school, got swooped, but kept on riding. Not a big issue. Accidentally injured a Magpie when it swooped, and I swung my hand around and knocked its head. It got up and slowly walked away... but it couldn't fly.

i was playing cricket, and this chick was walking home or something....neways a magpie started swooping her, she fell to the ground, so a batsman from the other team started swinging at the maggie, he managed to hit the magpie with his bat.

She didnt even say thanks to him. what a bitch! :p

When I used to operate the scoreboard for the football at the TCA Ground in Hobart I used to get a lot of little birds hanging about the place.
Bearing in mind that this was an outdoor scoreboard rather than one you could sit inside of, and I only had trouble with a Magpie once during a Sunday game - I just threw a beer can it in the finish and it never bothered me after that. Because the ground was high up on a hill set in amongst bushland and parks you could get days where you could be joined by Rosellas, Kookaburras, Magpies, Plovers, Finch, Crows all stting along the front rails of the board. I know they liked hot chips :p

The question is, did he start taking swings at her with the Grey Nicholls for being an ungrateful bitch ;)

After Brisbane's second won over Collingwood a couple of years back, we were out in a park having a kick when a magpie swooped the one guy out of a dozen who had a Brisbane jumper on. Spooky.

The walk to uni is rife with the buggers, as well as bloody plovers.

Coming back on a 'field trip' from Melbourne, we dropped another student off at an intersection near the uni and not 10m away he started getting dive-bombed rather ferociously, so he started running away with his hands over his head in a rather ungainly manner. Naturally we all laughed ourselves silly and kept driving to uni.

Entering the uni grounds, we saw a female jogger prone on the ground with two or three magpies continually diving over her, which wasn't as funny. Fortunately someone came to her rescue.

Yeah several years back we had a nest of the,m in this tree in my next door neighbours yard. They swooped and made contract with me like tiwce. They tore a lock of my neighbours hair outand they scratched my dads neck which bled alot. ********ty bastards Should alll be shot.

Magpies are very clever birds, and apparently will hold a grudge for years. They can remember exactly who it is they don't like and will only swoop certain people. I'm not sure if the scientists have worked out why those certain people are targetted.

So, if you have eyes on the back of your head they won't swoop?

I originally believed that but someone told me they may be actually attracted to shiny things ie your eyes gleaming. Just wear a hat I say.

This one used to constantly swoop at me when I used to walk through a park on my way to school. Annoyed the hell out of me to no-end, until one morning I came prepared with a soccer ball. It tried to swoop me, I turned around and hit the ********er right to the ground with it.

That's funny as. Me and a mate had a much larger bird swoop us when we were on the roof of the high school near his house. There was a rather large stick up there that I used to smack it square in the head.
