Who in the 1999 grand final (or premilinary side) reminds you of who of a player in todays side.

B: Rice, Silvagni, Franchina
HB: McKay, Sexton, Nelson
C: Camporeale, Kotoufides, Massie
HF: Hamill, Whitnall, Bradley (c)
F: Lappin, Manton, Murphy
R: Allan, Ratten, Brown
Inter: Beaumont, Christou, Hickmott, Hogg
Coach: D. Parkin

IMO reckon fraser brown would be the hardest to put a tag on in todays side.
Franchina= Jamieson
McKay= Simpson- dont know why
Hamill= Mitch Robinson
Camporeale= Carrazzo
So who do you think in our 2010 side reminds of the above players

Murphy - Murphy

Amidoinitrite?

Seriously, looking at that line-up does anyone else think there seems to be similarities between Waite and Lappin? Similar builds, both great disposalists, both great engines, both very versatile...

Franchina = Joseph
Silvagni = Jamison (we can hope he will be at least half as good).
Sexton = Thornton
Bradley = Gibbs
Massie = Russell
Whitnall = Henderson
Murphy = Yarran (Yaz will most likely end up better than Murphy).
Lappin = Tiller
Bradley is too much of a dasher to be 'coupled' with the Gibblet.
Kade reminds me of Braddles for some reason, probably the long runs and short legs.

I actually believe Gibbs is a cross between Bradley & Motley. Although Gibbs is not as quick as Bradley, his skills & the amount of time he seems to have in traffic are similar to Bradley. Gibbs tends to have more of a 'loping' running style like Motley & his kicking style is not unlike that of Motley, with a tendency to lean back a little bit as he is kicking the ball.

henderson hasn't even played yet

I just checked out lappins stats
183cm
77kg

hes 2 cm taller than me and weighs 4 kg more than me... I look like i've got 10 kg on him...plus he'd have a lower bf

I was thinking AJ was a little more like Matthew Hogg. A real worker, gives you everything, and loves getting in the face's of the opposition.

Thornton - Sexton. Very cool down in defence, both are good spoilers, don't get beaten that often. Thornton would have him on skills though.

Had a laugh on the comparison of carrazzo and campo, i think one of them has quite a lot better disposal, and i think bradley would be the hardest to put a tag on......remember when he just ran around the centre square without stopping to shake a tag?

Kouta = Kreuzer

Well, not quite yet. But if he gets some meat on them bones of his...

his ground work is similar, all he needs to master is the one handed pick up. Can't wait for him to tear the opposition a new one once he hits his strides :thumbsu:

Franchina = a poor man's Andrew Carrazzo
Aaron Hamill = the permanent forward version of how I envision Jarrad Waite in the forward line
Matthew Hogg = a less talented Aaron Joseph
Paul Bower -- a taller Glenn Manton
Jeff Garlett -- a poor man's Matthew Lappin
Jordan Russell -- the potential to be the team's Macca.

Anthony Franchina - Andrew Carrrazzo
Michael Sexton - Austin.
Christou - Bower with a piercing 60 metre kick and more poise.
Yarran - A faster, stronger and better version of Lappin.
Nelson - O'keeffe...SA HBF with a massive kick
Hickmott - Robinson...Rangas have to stick together.
Beaumont - Russell
Koutoufides - Hampson...Non-footy background plus incredible athleticism and huge upside that will be realised
Camporeale - Simpson...Where's my opponent and the mid feeding me the ball?
Mclean - Ratten.
Allan - Kreuzer after Allan sold his soul to the devil for superpowers like Spawn.
Brown - Browne.
Hogg - Aaron Joseph
Bradley - Judd
McKay - Armfield
Murphy - Walker
Whitnall - Cloke...Bogan family and no pace
Hamill - Fevola :thumbsd:

Franchina= Jamieson (f*ck I hope not!!)
McKay= Simpson- dont know why (i wish!)
Camporeale= Carrazzo (i wish!)

I'll always remember Kouta, Fraser Brown going ape shit, Essendon's bums trying to be heroes (especially Wallis) and the wonderful booming goal by Lance Whitnall from just inside the boundary line 50 meters out, which to me was the moment I said to my mother "Mum, holy shit, we're gonna get this." I was also convinced Banga was going to be an absolute champ for the next ten years :(

IT was the last win we ever attended together as after that she was just too ill to go to the football. She died at the start of 2002 (January) -- she always said Carlton never won a wooden spoon in her lifetime and that she'd die before they won one. How right she was, unfortunately.

Grouse memories, Y-Man. :thumbsu: I was there. Mum sounded like a quality Blue through and through. :)
