Coll vs North
For those wondering how we drop games like last friday's loss to North, here's some insight into how we do it.
The main thing we do is keep nearly all of our major midfielders and forwards off the ground for at least a qtr.
TOG % (##)=Poss
Medhurst(11) 82% Harding 87%
Didak(21) 78% Wells 89%
Pendlebury(25) 76% Campbell 95%
Swan(22) 76% Grant 92%
O'Bree(18) 73% McMahon 89%
Thomas(13) 75% Harvey 94%
Burns(22) 71% Simpson 70%
Bryan (11) 61% Petrie 88%
and keep our running defensive players on the feild virtually all game unrested,
Clarke(18) 99%
H.Shaw(11) 92%
Lockyer(14) 91%
Johnson(18) 89%
R.Shaw(19) 82%
With our major attacking players not playing 85% or more of the game, but our coach basically saying "We were never in it from the start", you have to wonder what the result would have been with proper use of the 22.
MM blames the ruck performance, but has Bryan on the field for only 61% of the game. Blames our forward line's effort but has Medhurst (82%), Anthony (78%) and Thomas (75%) all off the ground for up to a whole qtr. each, while Maxwell is used up forward, and veterans Brent Harvey & Shannon Grant grind out 94% and 92% of the game respectively for North. Surely its not a fitness issue......
Yet Cloke who was getting humiliated by Firrito managed 85%, and Goldsack who also struggled was played for 88%, H.Shaw and Lockyer both played over 90% of the game on a night when they both had poor games.
When will people start to ask why this happens year after year? In the same types of game. Who stands to benifit from these rotations?
