Sure does...

Maybe wait until Billy actually does something in the seniors before crowing.

Cant believe this triumphialism.

I hope Billy does well in the AFL.

I hope Tom does well when he is in the AFL.

Dislike this agenda against one of our players.

I don't have an agenda mate, I was replying to a smartarse comment.

From that Richo quote it's pretty clear that they aren't happy with Hickey's form and he was in fact dropped.

I could be wrong, but if you list a player as rested as opposed to omitted don't you need to still pay their match day fee?

If this is the case, why would we not just say he's been dropped. I am backing the club on this one, reckon he's been rested.

i think the club is just keeping their options open should any circumstance arise. Looks better on hickeys resume to say that he was managed and not dropped when it comes to trade value at the end of the year. I think ideally the club would like the both of them to have played some good football in the senior side throughout the year

I have no doubt that he's probably sore and in need of a week off, but I also very much doubt we'll be looking to rush him back in if Billy goes OK this week. His ruckwork has been getting exposed badly in some games this year and there are plenty more games to come against the likes of Mumford, Sandilands, Goldstein/Preuss, Gawn and even a 209cm, 110kg Witts.

Yes. Hickey needs a rest after the first four rounds of the season.

Please.

Lots of players are sore. The club said Hickey pulled up sore but would have been dropped anyway. Four gruelling rounds in the ruck I wouldn't be surprised if a player needed a rest.

Haaahaha.

I actually saw him the day after the Round 2 WCE game (where he played very well I thought).

I was walking my dog near home and stopped to cross a quiet residential street. A little Corolla (or similar meep-meep) slides by. Behind the wheel, knees in the air Mr. Bean style and a sleepy look on his face, is the Hickster. Rare unit.

It was an odd moment. Not the least as about 15 hours previous he'd been in Perth and I'd been standing in front of a screen, cheering for him and abusing the life out of the umpires.

Feel bad for Tom. Had a terrific year last year and he tries hard, but he's just not tall enough or strong enough and doesn't have a crazy leap (like a Ryder/NN) and this change to the ruck rule out of the blue has just sideswiped him (and us- we could have done without it for sure as we had a good thing going with Roo and co. going and 3rd-up).

Needs to now make his non-ruckwork game so good that he can almost get picked for that alone.

Your Hickey assessment. I think your all over reacting.
MG said the club isnt happy with him. Then he gets dropped. I think that was very reactionary and more focus should have been put on the midfield. Although I understand if they just want to give Billy a run and see what he's got.
Nothing wrong with that.

LOTS of testosterone flying around this thread over Hickey vs Longer.

Who cares whether Tom is being " managed" or dropped, or who predicted it,
surely we should all be rapt that we have two very handy ruckmen fighting it out for top spot?

Longer had it in 2015 and Hickey in 2016, both holding their spots largely due to injury of the other...now with both healthy this competition can only be beneficial for our team, both in terms of playing or end of season trade value, no matter who we might personally favour.
