We should be looking to draft this guy. :thumbsu: 191cm and 82kg, McNamara is a tall defender from South Adelaide. Went down to the ressies today and my word he’s impressive. Was a potential top 20 pick heading into the year but hasn’t had the year he would’ve liked. But he was great today and IMO is a lot better than James Turner who’s currently on our rookie list.

Got a terrific mark, a booming and accurate kick, and he does all the 1%’s.

Wouldn't mind taking him with our 2nd rounder, but chances are he'll be there for our 3rd pick. Get on it folks!

With all the names being bandied around what can you tell me about Allen from North, the current Magarey favourite, Drummond?

Yeh he's had a ripper year, but Ian Callinan will poll more votes IMO. But who cares about them, McNamara is the one we’re discussing here! ;)

Will be drafted this year, just depends when. Got all the makings of a very good defender. Please Adelaide, get him!

Drumm, I know you've mentioned a number of names on here over the course of the year. Wona... , McDonald and now McNamara.

Who do you think the AFC should look at from the SANFL and what type of picks are they worth in this years draft.... in your opinion ?

Well it’s interesting because they’re all very different players.

Wonaemirri is a small forward who applies excellent defensive pressure and is extremely quick. He might not be overly quick over 20 metres which is what they test so this may hurt, but once he gets on a roll watch out. He also has good skills and a good work rate. I would expect him to go late in the draft, probably about 50. He’s had a good season for Norwood but there are probably a few too many question marks over him in order to go early. In all likeliness he’ll be a late pick or rookie selection. But with doubts over Bode, the Crows will have interest.

McDonald is a midfielder with great vision, skills and he likes to run and back himself. Question marks over his defensive skills and perhaps there’s nothing that genuinely stands out, but he’s a big ball winner with senior experience so he could probably go anywhere from 30+.

McNamara was highly rated entering the season and he had a reasonably good carnival for SA. As I’ve said he’s a great mark, has good skills, a big ball winner and he has the ability to get a fist on anything. Bottom aged, it’s hard to gauge where he’ll be taken. Maybe not so early due to a lack of appearances in the seniors, but to me there’s more upside than with McIntyre, Gallman and Turner. Maybe 20-40.

There are lots of fantastic lads out there, just waiting for the right opportunity.

However the biggest single issue in selecting draft prospects is the one area us, as fans, cannot judge.

How much of a 'solid citizen' is the lad, that aspect is so much more important these days I reckon.

Can have all the talent in the world, but if between the ears is out of whack, the lad will amount to no more than a trivial pursuit question.

I'd imagine the Crows have learnt their lesson, after stories like Gilligan, Nash, Williams, Watts & Angwin.

Yeh i already mentioned him as a potential for us to take up with a 3rd/4th rounder. I think it wouldn't hurt us taking him this year, mainly as a result of 3 good defenders coming to the end of their careers (mcleod, basset and torney). As he is bottom-aged it could be really good for him to learn the tricks of the trade from those 3 while their still there. Also what this would do is set up our back line for the future with Truck and Bock being the leaders and having mcintyre, pfiffer and Gallam (really like this kid) and hopefully mcnamara conducting the supporting roles. In a year where the SA boys don't look to flash we and i personally reckon after ebert, greenwood and mcnamara are the standouts.

I was just curious about his pace. I'm just wondering if he could be somthing like a Jesse Smith down at the kangas for us?

What's the go with this bloke? Haven't heard him mentioned much on the D&T board, but surely he's a real chance to get drafted and fairly highly.

pick 30/38 - McNamara

I expect him to go anywhere between 25 - 35. If he lasts as long as 38 i'd be jumping all over him.
