Player Watch Tom Mitchell (Delisted 2025)

Would likely mean Mitchell can focus less on being the anchor defensively and more on hunting the ball inside, feeding the likes of Sidebottom, Daicos, De Goey etc

Long can be the sweeper and stop offensive thrusts out the front, Mitchell as the in and under and Daicos would be a good trio to have in there. De Goey, Sidebottom and others rotating with dynamic tendencies and skill.
I like it

I think people forget how poor Mitchell was before his injury, game looked like it had gone past him. Even in 2023 up until finals he was slow and clumsy. The same people wanting him back into the team are probably the same people who wanted him dropped at the start of last year.

Only way he gets into the team is if Long get injured.
Mitchell or Sullivan🤔

Sullivan. I see no reason to think the game hasn’t gone past a player like Mitchell at his age

If I’m wrong, perfect. He will be a 2x premiership player!
Just like it went past Pendlebury and Sidebottom.
Don't see why we don't give Mitchell a chance to prove himself. His 2023 form was better than a large portion of our team. He should at least get a chance.

Agreed. If the guy has earned his spot, play him.

I don't see Ned and Titch as mutually exclusive.

That's almost 2 years ago, a lot can change in 2 years.
Mitchell isn’t the problem. Fully fit he has plenty to give and no reason to think he can’t return to an injury free period. He’s been pretty durable over the years.

The problem for Mitchell is Colllingwood…… bloody hard side to crack into and sooner or later opportunities need to be be given to the next generation.

He’s ready to come back so selection this week will give an indication of which way the club is leaning. But no better time like the present in my view to provide development opportunities to the likes of Parker DeMattia Hayes etc when senior players go out with injury. it’s starting to pay dividends with Allen.

Agree, the next generation needs to get experienced in the senior side.
It was interesting listening to the VFL coach re Mitchell's leadership in the side . Maybe he's needed more doing that than playing in the senior side. Don't suppose he would agree.

Not sure there is a burning need to bring him back right now. Depends what your priority is. Do you want to keep getting games into less experienced players like Sullivan, Hayes and Allen, or do you want to see how/if a Mitchell/Long combo is the right mix?

His form would probably warrant promotion but the team is flying so no real need to do it. It should come down to their plans for the end of the year which is a terrific place for club to be in.

Very likely, he would disagree.

He has put himself through a long rehab stint. Playing senior footy would have been the driving force, more so now that we're flag favourites.

If his body is good to go, he'll be an advantage in September, as will JDG. I'm thrilled that the club will face these selection decisions.

Yeah Tommy can push forward and hit the scoreboard pretty well too

I'd rather his kicks for goal sail through the middle of the big sticks.

Booooom tish.

* Will see myself out
