do you see the irony, there both shit clubs, without scully were still better off than you guys, you didnt beat won VIC side last season, the time you guys fire riewoldt will be 36, if you nuts think us or you are going to win before GC or GWS your in a dreamworld,GC have a better list than our clubs now, sad but true.

Lol .......................... raelly funny post dude

1st point we are both shit , but if im playing for a shit side at least it could be the one i actually support.

beating vic sides, when has that been a part of any disputes or arguments isnt it suppose to be harder to win away than at home & last i looked we did pretty well away.

you say the time we fire riewoldt will be too old, well by the time jack watts fires there probably wont be a mfc & you will be playing games in either tassie or canberra with half your current list retired.

Gc dont have a better list than anybody atm , they have potential and we all know how potentially all players are champions untill they hit the afl.

I personally dont believe that scully will go anywhere (yet) but cdertainly not worth paying overs for a player who was selected at number 1 but hasnt done anything yet.

why would he play for a club thats played 3 finals matches in 27yrs, do you want him to end up like richo.

coz it's the next 27 he's more concerned with boofhead, you got a cyrstal ball or ya just blowin straight from the clacker...you tell me :p, remind me when the dees last saluted, try and get a colour DVD of that one

BAHAHA:p

All that tanking and he can't wait to get out of that crappy club :D

He is on his way to GWS no doubts about it. If he wasn't he wouldn't be deferring contract negotiations like gazza did last year would he? Hell this is terrific news. The only better news would be that the mercenary Judd was leaving Carlton for GWS with Scully.

This has made my day.........cheating scum melbourne are about to cop some karma :p

Betray the club that chose him? He didnt chose melbourne, the kids have no say. He just has to stay and rot at Melbourne because they happened to be on the bottom of the ladder in his draft year?

What if he wants to play for the club he loves hypothetically?

I agree financially its an almost impossible sell - not only to him but his management group. But questioning loyalty is not in play if he was to come to richmond.

But what if he loves the tiges? Would anyone here start supporting GWS for triple their current pay packet?

Its worth a shot at the very least.

Any calls for Scully to come to us are delusional. GWS have the capacity to offer far more and even then why would we want a player so readily wanting to betray the club that chose him? On top of that, even should we be able to match the absurd pay packet it would take to get him, how would that sit with the rest of our list? Would they be comfortable getting paid a third as much as a greenhorn kid? What about at contract negotiation time? How much more will they all be asking for?

But all this useless rhetoric gets in the way of the simply stupidly blatant truth, Scully isn't going to go anywhere full stop.

Scully was always earmarked for the number 1 pick, so hypothetically, if Sanchez had missed that goal we probably would have picked him, and this board would be now in meltdown. Thank God for Dusty.

Melbourne would still have Scully, we just would have had pick 2 instead of 3

Scully still had a poster of Lids up in his bedroom even after he had been drafted to Melbourne.

how do you know??

very good post.

This whole thread is bizarre. GWS can afford to pay overs because they have an extra $1M in their salary cap. Richmond don't. All you have is an incredibly tenuous argument that he used to support Richmond. Newsflash: 99.9% of all draftees follow a team, and 90% of them don't get to the club they supported, and just get on with supporting the club they have joined.

Another major hurdle is that we would have to make a trade to satisfy Melbourne unlike GWS who just sign him and the Dees get what the AFL decides they can have

Eddie said on Triple M this morning that it is a VERY strong rumour that he is already signed to GWS.

I for one hope it's true. Melbourne tanked to get those two picks and I'd love nothing more than for them to have that pick taken off them.

:thumbsu:SPOT on Lance. Any kid with the potential to play AFL is fully accepting from the moment he knows he might be good enough to fulfill that potential that he is unlikely to lob at the club of his choice. Further, most - once at a club - are keen to establish themselves as 'one club' players.
It's a cut-throat industry ... a kid making his way in the AFL is solely focused on doing all that's necessary to retain his place on his list and not shift his focus to be plying his trade elsewhere!!

Forget DVD, try and get a copy on Betamax, jerk

not you Bo

We should have a crack just to get his asking price up i reckon.

GWS are gonna offer the big bucks because they know ppl will only play there is they are gonna get $$$$$

Richmond should offer something inbetween what GWS are offering - and what Melbourne are offering. Will definitely test his loyalty if Richmond offer more $$ than his current club he has been at for 5 minutes - and he has barracked for the club the majority of his life.

GWS has not got a lot going for it IMO, $$$ isn;t everything to everyone - and the boy would most likely earn more money staying in Melbourne with endorsements, than he would staying in a part of Australia where they don't give too ****s about him.

I'm a big fan of ****ing with the market, making clubs overpay for their own, clubs have done it to us brilliantly over the years ( Ben Holland :o ), we should be re-paying the favor back

GWS doesn't have to trade for him. They get him via compensation picks, like Gold Coast did. If we forced him into the PSD, then GWS would just take him with their first pick.

We won't trade for him either. It won't happen.

The contract is out there.............

The GIANTS will not be the only club making a play for him that's for sure. Great young player coming out of contract, he'll have a stack of offers. Anyone that thinks Collingwood, Carlton, Richmond and Essendon etc. won't be lining up to poach him is well naiive. Travis Boak was approached by Gold Coast, Geelong, Richmond, Essendon. A lot to think about for young Tom.

The old rumour mill got it right, almost to a man, last year.

Ablett, Brown, Bock, Krakouer and Harbrow were all at first rumoured to be heading to the Suns, most of them from very early last year.

Doesn't look good for the Dees in my opinion - they are going to have to work very hard to keep Scully. They will also be restricted by an improved list in terms of talent and value.

I hope the drums don't start beating for any of our lads...

We'll make contact I've no doubt but along with everyone else we won't be able to compete with the offer coming from GWS.

If Tom Scully were to come to Richmond it would cause a shock that hits double digits on the richter scale.

Obviously Melbourne are in the strongest position as they hold possession. Boak ultimately chose to stay at his current club (as Scully is likely to) but from what I've heard Boak was weighing up a move to one of the Vic sides making a play for him over the buckets of money on offer at the Suns. You just dont know what Scully's priorities and thinking are. The Tiges could be in with a chance if you have a good year ;)

your smarter than the rest.

No it didnt, remember the name Trent Cotchin? Where is he playing this year?

Yes they got some names right, but we all quickly forget the names they got wrong.

On the Tom Scully to Richmond thing, it won't happen, we arent in the same position as GWS, we would have to offer up a trade and Melbourne would probably want either Cotchin, Deledio or Martin.

The only chance we would have is to play hard ball with Melbournes knowing that if they didnt trade with us GWS would swoop and they would get nothing. If Scully chose Richmond over GWS, I'd doubt very much he would like to go through a week of crap to find out at 2pm on a Friday whether he is staying in Victoria or not.
