The big fella looks a bit flat in the ressies at the moment.
I reckon the plan is to flog him on the track and in the weights room for a month. Hence his current form.
Then they will rest him up for a few weeks like an Olympic sprinter that will physically peak for a 2 week period.
They will name him as an emergency for our 2nd final regardless of whether it is a prelim or a semi.
Then they will quietly slot him into the 22 and he will become our x-factor for the final thrust to premiership glory.
The bottomline is the kids best is already good enough to make an impact but he is too immature to do it consistently.
On the otherside of the coin Thompson will keep a trick or 2 up his sleeve for crunch time...you can bet on it.
Other teams will have been studying us for months come crunch time. We will have to have the courage to do something different if we are to go all the way. Hawkins will become the perfect x-factor to throw a cat amongst the Eagles (or whoever) plans.
Finally Thompson toyed with a similar idea when Nablett burst onto the scene late in 2005 but it didn't quite come off as he pulled out of the Sydney game.
My other tip is I am not convinced we have seen the last of Charlie G for 2007.
Time will tell...........
