They have an obligation to the team to have sons damn it!! just because they stopped playing 20 years ago doesnt mean there not commited!

FYI they are also required to marry tall athletic amazon women with large child carrying hips.

I wonder if you can claim father/son from a sperm donor, in which case i would get Peter Matera to fill truck full of it for future generations of West Coast success.

C'mon you know this is the future.

If the Eagles get a PP I would love the Eagles to get Butcher and Morabito.
I would be just as happy with Scully and Morabito though.

Or Morabito and Lucas.

On B. Matera. Ten News just ran some BS about the GC.

Personally ive got an idea, first he reject the GC offer this year and tells them he wants to play for us.

We then trade our first (pick 10?) and second round draft picks for the a pick somwhere in the range of where we expect Matera to go. Say he looks like a top five pick then we ask for pick 3.

Must play for Westcoast and we must move heaven and earth to get him.

IMO there are 4-5 players better than Lucas in this upcoming draft. So I don't believe the Eagles will get him if they get a PP.

B. Matera can't be taken by us this year, so it's a non issue. I'm sure the Eagles already have plans to get him to the club next year.
If the Eagles lose him east, I'm sure they'll lure Matera home in 3 years from now considering his desire to play at West Coast.

Well this thread was started about B.Matera following his performance for our U18 side.

I dont know where Lucas will sit in the draft come the end of the championship, im of the belief he is being played forward to give other less talented prospects greater time in the middle. It's the same reason Swallow is being played down back most of the time.

Depending on where we finnish on the ladder in 2010 could well decide if he is still avilable. Will potentially be available to sides that finnish in the bottom five. I very much down want to finnish in the bottom five in 2010 so a trade with the GC is the only other option.

I think we'll get B. Matera whether we draft him or whether he comes out of contract after a stint at another club.
The history of his uncles at the club will make an offer by the Eagles pretty hard to turn down, especially if he already is leaning towards making the Eagles his prefered club. A home coming back to WA would be enticing as well.
B. Matera is pretty much family at the Eagles considering the great careers of Peter and Phil had here. The Eagles should let Brandon know that to help in ensuring his services in the near future. The Eagles should push the idea of making the Matera name synonomous with success at the WCE. We must pull out all the stops to get him here.

If Peter's son turns out half as good as what they say he will be then you would imagine the Eagles wouldn't hesitate snaring him under father/son so will be even more pull to get him at the club.

Brandon is Wally's son.

Can't father/son him.

Peter's son is something around the 12-13 mark?

That's what I mean, sorry if it was clear as mud.

If we get Peter's kid Jordan to the club under father/son, then there will be more of a pull to get Brandon here.

Well if Brandon is drafted next year that would make Jordan 14ish, we draft Jordan at 17 when Brandon is around 20. Between Jordan being at the club and his uncles playing at the club its entirely possible that Brandon would want to go home, this all comes into effect around 2013 when Swift, Shuey, Masten, Ebert, Naita, Notte ect.. are around 21-22.

So we also pick up Brandon (for nothing after 3 years of development hopefully :) ) and Jordan Matera (for a third round father and son) to compliment our other mids in one years worth of drafting. I just hope that no wank job of a club decides they want to use a first rounder on Jordan just to screw us around.

Cue Fremantle stage right

Depends on how good he is, but if he does play like his old man then im sure he might be decent prospect in a few years.

Wally wasn't that flash... He did well at WAFL level but definitely the least talented out of Peter, Phil and himself
