Pretty simply really, what are your favourite race tracks in world motor racing?

1. Laguna Seca
2. Monaco
3. Bathurst
4. Phillip Island
5. Canadian F1 GP
6. LeMans
7. Brands Hatch
8. Budapest
9. European F1 GP
10. Sandown

Ive probably missed some but these are the ones I could think of off the top of my head. Some seriously fun and entertaining tracks in this.

What tracks do you enjoy?

Special mentions to the old Cleveland Airport layout which was used when CART/ChampCar was still around, no other track ever like it. The Silverstone layout before it was ruined by adding the extra infield straights, Gold Coast's Full Indy circuit which we'll never see again thanks to the light rail and the old Hockenheim also are honourable mentions.

In no particular order, my 10 are
- Road America (Elkhart Lake)
- Suzuka
- Spa Francorchamps
- Monza
- Istanbul Park (Turkish GP)
- Knockhill
- Mount Panorama
- Phillip Island
- Streets of Singapore
- Indianapolis Motor Speedway

Worst tracks ever designed include the now defunct San Jose street circuit (speaking of light rail), Abu Dhabi, the new Hockenheim, the new Silverstone and Magny Cours.

Potrero de los Funes is a pretty cool looking circuit. It's kind of like a trumped up version of Albert Park. Has some decent elevation change too.

I'm pretty standard when it comes to liking circuits. I like the things most people do: history, elevation change, naturally follows terrain etc.

Spa
CDLS
Bathurst
PI
Monza
Laguna Seca
Nordschleife
Watkins Glen is simple but provides some good races.

Some unpopular(?) ones I like are
Hungaroring, nice little track imo just not great for F1.
Monaco, see above.
Montreal simple but good. I can't get into NASCAR but the Nationwide races there are some of the best racing there is.

Mount Panaroma is streets ahead of anything I'm aware of. Doesn't just work over a drivers skill, it works over his ability to manage his car. As well as having some very exciting sections for the spectator. Sometimes the racing up on the hill is better in the car parks than on the track, NOW thats saying something.

The history:rolleyes:

Luguna Seca. it flows like the golden locks of a mermaid. Brilliant place to ride.

I use to like watching the 500's there. Until Kevin Mcgee caved his head in.

Hell of a race this one. See if you can spot the young 5 times world champion battling to get into the points...

Some tracks I used to love were butchered by adding chicanes in stupid spots.

Motor racing just isn't like it used to be. There are no really deadly fast tracks anymore.

Not really in any particular order.

Istanbul

Love that high speed bending straight and the big high speed left handers.

Hockenheim

Brilliant track with some good twists, can't just plant to foot, requires skill.

Spa

The long winding roads, great scenery, super high speeds. A classic.

Monza

The chicanes are tried and tested. Plenty of history, love to see them come flying out of the parabolica and seeing who can brake the latest to make it around that first chicane.

Monaco

The barriers, the history, the streets, the atmosphere. Yes it lacks overtaking but this is the rare race that doesn't need it.

Silverstone

A great track with the twisty stuff. That first sequence of high speed bends is magical and requires nerves of steel.

Suzuka

Ups and downs with lots of bends. Drivers are tested to the limit.

Nurburgring

A good track for racing without being spectacular, has enough high speed corners and sometimes it rains which makes things interesting.

Montreal

The wall of champions!!

Brazil

Great elevation changes and plenty of high speed action coming into that first left hander make this a good watch.

Mount Panorama has nice scenery but I'm not a big fan of anything non-F1.

Shanghai is a great track but like a freeway which makes races boring.

Imola is fantastic but I guess it's time had come. Still wish it could be saved. RIP Senna.

Catalunya is the track that was wrecked with a stupid chicane.

Magny-Cours was a great track. I wonder if the French will being back their GP.

great thread!!

For me

Spa - just a magnificent circuit. has everything
Adelaide - biased here, being at the 94 and 95 GP's was just something else. being parallel with the start finish line in 94 was magic!
Bathurst - just cos..
Indianapolis - history of the place is great. circuit is surprisingly difficult to drive too (if iRacing is anything to go by..)
Monaco - losing it's relevance to F1, but i love it anyway
Cleveland Airport - Completely agree with what was said. Incredible circuit
Le Mans - there aren't enough longer tracks like this still in use.
Daytona - history of the place. USA's version of the superbowl along with Indy
Talledega - pack racing at its best
Bristol - it shouldn't be possible to go that fast on such a short track!!

Speaking of Iracing , check out last monday nights v8 championship race from Virginia , Scott Mclaughlin loses his shit

10. Laguna Seca
9. Interlagos
8. Albert Park
7. Montreal
6. Suzuka
5. Lemans
4. Spa
3. Monza
2. Nurburgring
1. Monaco

All fun to drive (in video games at least), and while some of you may question Monaco, yes F1 there is dull but lower spec cars are a ball to watch there.

Whyalla speedway.

Years ago the top 4 american super sedan racers use to tour Australia racing the best 4 from here. Whyalla was a small speedway circuit but a gravel based one that was one of the rounds. All the support races use to be overflowing with entries as well as adreniline from the full house and the best of the best in the world at super sedan racing there. Every driver from America for years said this was the most fun track and best they ever raced. They were use to clay surfaces.

Thats the dirt circuit track. Speedway is out on the Iron knob road on the west side of that big hill overlooking the north west of the town.
