Yep - but they're highlights ;)
They aren't going to show the bad kicks and handballs of anybody
Kelly could be really good, but I don't think he was as switched-on all the time as others

But it's all opinion - and my views should in no way affect or change what you feel :)
I just like the discussion. Feel free to tell me to sod off :D
good points- when I say highlights- the whole 07 prelim- first viewing after that game live.
Anyway, I could write out a very different list of other favourites too, like Jacko, Brownless, Lindner, Bruns, Kevin Higgins, Barnes, Marshall, Walker, Polly Farmer, Sharrock, Clarke snr, Jefferies, on any given day, such is our talent pool and enjoyability factor.

Enjoyed watching Robert Scott and Paul Brown play in 1992. That game against Brisbane I think Ablett got 9 and Scott 6

37.17
11.9

Thankyou, with not a whole lot of thought, but the Pies I always loved watching, and pity it's only 10.
1. John Greening- the most brilliant player I'd seen until he got felled by Jim O'Dea.
2. Peter Daicos- superb goalsneak
3. Peter McKenna-brilliant FF
4. Scott Pendlebury- has usurped Buckley as the GOAT Pies
5. Nathan Buckley- the complete footballer
6. Steele Sidebottom-most underrated player in the comp.
7. Len Thompson- best ruck in the country for a while
8. Phil Carman- magical skillset
9. Barry Price- Price/McKenna rivalled Goggin/Wade
10.Nick Daicos and ascending rapidly

Unlucky- Jamie Elliott

Obviously Farmer and Jumping Jack would have been in my top 6 as would have Wade but I never saw them play live (this is just the guys I've seen play)

Also loved the great Paul Couch and Stoneham as a kid-pre broken leg he was awesome.
Also thought Harry T was awesome some of his marking and his personality. Menzel was also poetry in motion for a short time before the injuries.

Yeah i somehow forgot Pendles - so he comes in at Number 6 - thus the previous 6-9 all drop down a rung and now Twiggy Dunne misses out

----daylight

GAJ (son of GOAT, so say no more)

Dangerfield
M. Scarlett
Bartel
SJ (outside GAS best to watch)
Chapman
Selwood (and outstanding Captain)
Hawkins
David Clark
Hocking (unlucky)

It looks like PO, GG and myself are of similar vintage, so not surprisingly our 10 best are similar. Mine is:

Ablett (no need to put S or J for me)
......

1 years worth of daylight (ok, slight exaggeration, but not much!)
.....

Dangerfield
Bartel
Scarlett (ok, Junior this time, his dad wasn't anywhere near as good)
Selwood (best overall clubman though)
Ablett Junior
Hawkins
Stevie J
Cameron
Blicavs (maybe controversial, but he is unique) otherwise David Clark or maybe Bruce Lindner

I wanted to mention one more, Menzel, if he had had knees, he could have been 2 or 3, I've never seen a better first 20 games (except the incomparable one, but he was almost 'mature age' when he came to us)

" The Rifleman"

Teddy Whitten in his calls reckoned that Grant Tanner looked like Chuck Connors who starred in The Rifleman

Thus Teddy referred to Tanner as The Rifleman , and it stuck

5. Jimmy Bartel
6. Buddha Hocking

Are you saying that as a Collingwood supporter or a Geelong sympathiser !!!

Because i have never seen a player especially a key forward who dropped as many chest marks as Mensch , it looked like he use to shut his eyes , plus he was slow , but back then he was the best we had thus he got a regular game . No wonder Geel got killed in the 95 GF we had Mensch as CHF and Handley at CHB - it was never going to work

Haha. I enjoyed watching him play.

What the he'll happened with Stephen Hooper number 1 pick In the draft? Like Handley he was from WA. didn't deliver and season finished after 3 years.
