Why stop at 10?
FWIW I had the following that just missed the cut and some others I've been reminded of, in no particular order.

  • West Coast 24 -reminded by other posters, grasping defeat from the jaws of victory
  • Essendon 2021 -72 point loss, pregame tag line " this one means a little more". Considering it usually means **** all, it was no surprise the added motivation did nothing to alter the result
  • Bulldogs Round 23 2024- Sam Darcy game. Prelude to the next week.
  • Gather Round 1 & 2- both as bad as each other
  • Bulldogs 2020 - again a reminder from another poster, Poor old Cunners looked like he just had a hip replacement but he passed the fitness test.
  • Gold Coast 2022 in Darwin, 70 point loss to rival cellar dwellar
  • Geelong 24, pre the demoralising Hawks loss. Pummelled at KP yet again

Ah, so many memories! Thankyou for that little trip down memory lane. I've always referenced the Bulldogs good friday thrashing as the worst performance I've seen. Josh Bruce with a lazy 10 was just laughable. If you look at it in that light then everything since has been an improvement.

Not in the Top 10 but a couple of HMs from 2023

Round 8 v St.Kilda. The Saints were good in 2023 but this entire game was a stinker. In perfect conditions under the roof we go goalless in the first half - 0.7. Mind you, the Saints were nearly as bad with 3.9 at half time. The second half was a little better but the final score of 64 to 34 tells of an absolutely dire match. Both sides would have been smashed by any one decent.

Round 18 v Hawthorn. 16th v 17th. Finally a game we can be competitive in after a tough run. Again, in pristine conditions under the roof, Hawthorn dominate all day but inaccuracy keeps us in it - 4.1 v 3.13 at half time. But the ordinary Hawks kick 9 goals to 2 in the second half for a 48 point win to inflict a 15th straight loss.

How much leeway do we give him based on covid? I said at the start of 2020 that we'd be shit, but no one could've predicted this, and we did actually scrounge together a torrid win and a gutsy win before the hub happened. We had a backbone, and lost it over that year. Be interesting to know exactly what went down in the hub and exactly what happened to his mind
He gets some but not a lot. You are the coach and gotta take some accountability.

The fact we never have really truly known what went down doesn't fill me with much hope that we ever will.

Reading through this list  🍷

Sad Over It GIF by Amanda Cee Media

Can’t believe no one mentioned the West Coast game in Tassie last year.

They kicked. 3 goals in 90 seconds didn’t they?..
the worst part of that game was this Eagles campaigner.

Chom got rorted from a mark in front of goal and the Eagles kicked on immediately. It was a clear free but they didn't pay it, late in the third quarter.

This campaigner started up then, yelling at the bench "They're gonna lose. They always do, they can't win a game.

I wanted to go jam his beer bottle down his throat and shut him up but had my youngest daughter with me.

But that campaigner cost us that game. He ****ed their minds up.

He'd be yelling things like "See told ya's you will lose." For the whole last quarter.

The lesson in this is never take your kids to the footy.

App says we had 514 touches.

Higgins 38 & a goal.
Goldstein 34 and a goal.
Simpkin 33 & a goal.
Polec 32 & a goal.
Ziebell 33 and a goal.

Brown had 10.1 from 14 kicks.
Larkey 5.0 from 11 kicks.

We didn't have a single player register less than 10 touches. Don't know what was wrong with Port
They were playing for a finals spot is what was wrong with them.

They won their last game but were in eighth and needed to beat us in the second last game. Instead we put them out of the eight and dropped their percentage by 6 points.
